UNICEF ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated, and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws and policies to help protect children than anyone else. We get things done. And we’re not going to stop until the world is a safe place for all our children.
This is a great opportunity to join the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) as the Children’s Rights and Sport Specialist.
UNICEF recognises the power of sport to change children’s lives for the better and is committed to the realisation of children’s rights in, around, and through sport. As part of this work, UNICEF UK is developing a model for child-friendly remedy to be utilised by Mega Sporting Events.
The Children’s Rights and Sport Specialist will take the lead in developing this model through researching existing examples; engaging with key stakeholders to gather and analyse good practice; gaining insight from actual Mega Sport Events, including the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago; and synthesising this information to develop a pilot model for testing.
The successful candidate will be experienced in human and/or child rights, with an understanding of remedy mechanisms and a track record of working on human and/or child rights considerations, ideally in the context of sport. They will be an effective communicator, with experience in project management, research, and analysis.
Closing date: 5pm, Monday 29 August 2022.
Interview date: Monday 12 September 2022 via video conferencing (MS Teams).

We are gradually moving back to our offices on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London and we anticipate most colleagues will work one or two days a week in the office and the rest of the time from home. We will happily discuss other flexible options to suit your circumstances.
We particularly welcome applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, LGBTQ+ candidates, disabled candidates, and from men, because we would like to increase the representation of these groups at this level at UNICEF UK. We want to do this because we know greater diversity will lead to even greater results for children.

Making The Leap is a small and innovative societal change charity that aims to make a big difference. From direct delivery, to advocacy and leadership, we refuse to stay in our lane and believe passionately that those we exist to serve have the right to be anything they want to be.
