What we are looking for
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Programme Assistant to support the delivery of our In2STEM programme. We are looking for a candidate who has an interest in promoting social mobility and diversity in STEM, and who understands the barriers young people from low socioeconomic backgrounds face when accessing higher education, postgraduate research and careers. Candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and will be highly organised and efficient, with great attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting the team with student and volunteer recruitment activities.
- Data administration including updating contact databases, managing participant and volunteer data and gathering evaluation data.
- Supporting the management of email inboxes and acting as a point of contact for student and volunteer enquiries.
- Drafting, compiling and proofreading newsletters and bulk email communications using mailmerges and marketing communication software, such as Sendinblue.
- Managing web content and creating engaging communication resources for students, teachers and volunteers.
- Attending staff meetings; chairing and taking minutes.
- Supporting the planning and delivery of in-person and online programme activities including inductions, training, mentoring sessions, workshops and celebration events.
- Providing administrative support to ensure that students and volunteers have all the required information and documentation for work experience placements.

JOB PURPOSE
To inspire people with severe and enduring mental health conditions to progress and to gain and sustain paid employment and contribute to a thriving team and organisation.
The Employment Specialist (ES) role will work across and within the local Barnet or Haringey secondary care network. You will work to assist referred patients (clients) to find competitive and sustained employment. Around 25% of referrals will be to assist clients to remain in work if struggling, or return to work, if off sick.
Employment Specialists will follow the 8 principles of IPS, adhere to the IPS Fidelity Scale and achieve monthly targets and KPIs with the required administration and compliance.
You will need to be comfortable supporting people who have experienced / are experiencing serious mental health challenges, as well as possibly other serious difficulties in their lives. Although you will receive full training and support, it’s important you are aware of the potential impact this may have on your own mental wellbeing.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Engage a caseload of clients with serious mental health problems and establish trusting, collaborative relationships to support them into employment in line with contract targets and IPS fidelity.
2. Assess clients’ employment support needs; implementing and adjusting employment plans as necessary to support each client’s desired outcomes along IPS requirements.
3. Develop and deliver a range of practical services to meet clients’ needs including career guidance, job searching, CV preparation, interview skills, individual coping techniques or work coaching.
4. Build a constant flow of referrals to ensure a dynamic caseload.
5. Conduct weekly employer engagement activity in line with IPS Fidelity.
6. Understand the complex issues a client may face, recognise holistic support needs and work in conjunction with clinical staff.
7. Facilitate access to expert financial advice on welfare benefits and ‘access to work’ resources.
8. Provide support and reasonable adjustments if required, to employed clients to support them to stay and progress in work.

- Record all membership and supporter income and activities on the database including setting up new memberships and recording donations from fundraising appeals.
- Manage and update supporter information on our database (ThankQ).
- Ensure new memberships are fulfilled in a timely manner, including liaising with our fulfilment house to prepare and upload data for welcome packs, magazines, membership renewals and thank you communications.
- Support in gathering content for high quality communications to our supporters, e.g. newsletters and appeals.
- Support our corporate fundraising activities.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Responsibilities
- Ensuring the smooth running of the organisation by leading on operational processes and administration, including managing our office space and creating a welcoming workplace.

- Managing our annual governance cycle, including being the point of liaison between Demos’ Board of Trustees and Leadership Team, working closely with the Chair and Chief Executive to ensure legal compliance and prepare all Board meetings, papers and reports, including taking appropriate minutes
