We are looking for a great motivator with excellent communication and organisational skills. Applicants should have relevant team or project management experience in social care, health, education or the voluntary and community sector. You will have experience of working with vulnerable adults and/or children and operational knowledge of multi-agency working. A practical understanding of barriers faced by unpaid carers, and an awareness of cultural differences will be key in this role.

This is a full-time role and the postholder can either be based in the community in Lewisham or our New Ash Green office, with travel to the other area/ office 2 days a week. The postholder must have access to their own ULEZ compliant car.

About the role

Becoming the Programme Marketing Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is a fantastic opportunity to help drive progress for women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by engaging more people in our work.

The key purpose of this role is to effectively market our programmes to participants – chiefly our HerVenture business skills microlearning app and our sector-leading Mentoring Women in Business programme.

This will span three main projects:

· to successfully manage a marketing agency to effectively market the HerVenture app to women in South Africa (as part of a fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Mar ‘25);

· to successfully manage the same marketing agency to promote the app in Nigeria (as part of a separate fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Dec ‘24); and

· to effectively promote the opportunity to become a mentor to a woman entrepreneur through our Mentoring Women in Business programme to paying professionals worldwide. Your objective will be to secure 18+ paid mentors for the Nov ’24 programme intake and 20+ for the May ’25 intake.

Following the completion of the two HerVenture marketing projects, you will also lead other programme marketing initiatives in 2025. These will be determined in late 2024.

Following the May ’25 Mentoring intake you will deliver a strategy, harnessing your learning and analysis to outline an approach for marketing the programme to paying mentors in future.

You will also be called on to support other forms of programme marketing on an ad hoc basis, for example advising on development of corporate pitch decks, or co-designing materials for fundraising events.

This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing, however this is a highly collaborative role and you will also work closely with the Entrepreneurship programmes team and the Programme Funding team to develop and deliver plans and manage projects.

Our ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and motivated marketer with experience in ‘selling’ professional development / online volunteering opportunities, and in managing agencies and contractors to deliver on fixed projects as aligned to good marketing practices. You should be highly organised and goals-driven, with a collaborative approach, a growth-oriented mindset, and a strong desire to harness the power of marketing to support women’s economic empowerment.

Thurrock CVS are passionate about supporting, developing and promoting the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise Sector, and recognise that as a sector, we are better together.

We are looking for someone who can take a lead in supporting three of the four key functions of infrastructure and includes leadership & advocacy, partnerships & collaborations and capacity building for the sector.  These characterise the role of Thurrock CVS and help to support and strengthen locally based voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations and showcase the strength and worth of the sector.

In addition to the support to the sector, you will manage a fund developed to support the sector, overseeing the administration and governance of the fund, and supporting a wider team in building relationships with businesses to drive the social responsibility agenda.

We are looking for someone with experience of working and developing the VCFSE sector, including organisational structures such as in incorporated charities, CIC’s etc, training, funding advice, policy guidance and general support around funding and grant applications

This is a demanding role and requires someone with tenacity and a real interest in people and social action. Superb communication skills are a must, at all levels, as well as a good understanding of an organisations development and structure.

This new role will lead on Platform’s People and Process functions as we progress through the next stage of our exciting restructure process.

We are a flat-structured organisation that makes decisions collectively. We are currently developing and designing a new organisational structure based on sociocracy where staff are supported to work more collectively and strategically across our seven programs. 

The focus of this role will be on transforming and strengthening our HR systems and processes to centre compassion, care and liberation. As well as delivering the day-to-day HR functions within our small organisation, this role will lead on the long-term design and implementation of a People Strategy and a Learning and Development Strategy, supporting our staff to develop their own roles while growing as a team within our new structure. Key priorities for this work will be:

• Leading a review of recruitment practices, with a particular focus on equity and anti-oppression

• Leading a review of our line management practices and processes

• Supporting the review of our Socially Just Waging System policy

This role will sit within our new ‘Resourcing Circle’ - working with the Finance and Fundraising staff and liaising with our Board of Trustees.

We are looking for someone passionate about radical HR practices, who is excited to help us develop a structure that empowers and adequately resources our team to deliver their work.

Details:

Hours: 4 days: 32 hours per week based on a 40 hour week, flexible hours possible.

Contract: Permanent, subject to 6 months probation.

Salary: Baseline salary as of March 2024 is £42,248 pro rata  (£33,791 at 4 days a week) and is subject to Platform’s Socially Just Waging System.

Location: Oxford House, Derbyshire Street, London, E2 6HG, but remote working is possible. Most Platform staff are supported to work from home most of the time, but all permanent members of staff are expected to attend in-person monthly meetings, and other in-person meetings when required.

Duties and responsibilities:

People work

• Working within the Resourcing circle to manage all aspects of our People work

• Leading the development of a People Strategy, Wellbeing Strategy and Learning and Development Strategy

• Managing recruitment, selection and contracting

• Managing all employee on and off boarding procedures ensuring the company meets its statutory obligations and delivers an effective probationary process

• In collaboration with line managers, developing and managing performance appraisals, probationary reviews and annual reviews

• Providing necessary HR administration and remaining up to date on employment legislation (training provided) ensuring that any changes are communicated in a clear and timely manner

• Developing and managing our organisational policies and procedures in line with Platform’s values

• Support the Fundraising and Finance Manager in a collaborative review and redesign process of our Socially Just Waging System 

• Leading a collaborative review of our line management process and overseeing its implementation

Culture and wellbeing

• Coordinating the anti-oppression working group, and bottom-lining the development, delivery and monitoring of the anti-oppression strategy

• Managing individual and team development and training

• Supporting and maintaining a culture of care, compassion and liberation in Platform where team members can thrive and achieve personal development

• Maintaining safe working environments for staff and volunteers in line with our policies and procedures

• Providing an additional point for pastoral care for staff

Operational support and office management

• Provide general operational coordination to the staff team on a day to day basis.

• Manage the office, ensuring everyone has the supplies and equipment they need, the post is well managed, and the office is well organised and safe

• Liaise with our IT consultants to manage assets and IT needs/processes

• Lead and manage our organisational systems and processes

Board of Directors

• Prepare reports for the board meetings and subgroup meetings, providing advice and recommendations where necessary.

• Attend board meetings and subgroup meetings (involves a few hours of work in the evening, outside normal working hours, which you’ll be able to claim back).

Collective organisational management

• Pro-actively participate in sociocratic, consensus decision making in our team meetings, contributing to the general strategic development of Platform.

• Participate in line management processes, including line management of colleagues after probationary period

• Active participation and collaboration in Platform’s restructure process, including development of roles, circles and teams

At the core of RABI’s mission is the commitment to address the individual needs of farming people.  We offer one-to-one, expert support, advice and guidance, tailored to the individual circumstances of the farming person.

You will be part of a wider Volunteering team responsible for developing our approach to volunteering and engaging stakeholders and partners through local events, shows, talks etc.

We currently involve approximately 500 volunteers who help raise funds and awareness of RABI within local communities.  Most of our volunteers are linked to one of our 40 county committees across England & Wales.

You will take the lead for volunteering across a range of projects including the development and implementation of new volunteering systems and processes and the piloting of a new volunteer ambassador programme.  The role also includes the line management of the Volunteering Projects Co-ordinator. 

Key responsibilities:

Volunteering systems & processes

• As the lead ‘subject matter expert’ for volunteering, you will lead on the implementation of new volunteering systems & processes across RABI.  This includes making decisions to support system development, testing, communications and training for users.
• Work closely with the National Volunteering Manager and the team of Regional Managers, to ensure they are equipped and supported to make best use of the new systems. 
• Work with the Head of Volunteering and Volunteering Projects Co-ordinator to ensure the appropriate processes and policies are in place to support good practice and an accessible and inclusive volunteering experience.
• Lead on the evaluation of new systems & processes for volunteering and agree clear recommendations / priorities for future development.

Diversify and expand volunteer offer

• Lead on development and implementation of new volunteer roles – including the introduction of community and corporate ambassadors.
• Work with a range of stakeholders to clarify priorities for future development for new types of volunteering – from flexible, micro roles, to more formal roles such as volunteer ambassadors. 
• Develop and agree approach to volunteer recruitment, engagement and development – to support ambassadors and other roles.
• Put in place a clear development plan for ambassadors – including opportunities to come together, collaborate on future content and training etc.
• Manage and evaluate pilots – gathering evidence to inform future development. 
  

Volunteer learning and development

• Understand volunteer learning and training needs and organisational requirements to inform future development. 
• Lead the introduction of new learning systems, volunteer portal and content to support volunteer training and development – to ensure volunteers feel supported and we are meeting appropriate safe and legal obligations.
  

Volunteer communications and recognition

• Work with Head of Volunteering to improve volunteer communication – including volunteer forums and newsletters. 
• Lead on improvements to informal and formal recognition of RABI volunteers / county committees – including introduction of long service awards and involvement in national initiatives such as Volunteers Week and Big Help Out.

Team management and leadership

• Work closely with the Head of Volunteering, National Volunteering and Senior Regional Managers to set direction, make decisions and engage the wider team.
• Manage the Volunteering Projects Co-ordinator, setting clear goals and supporting their development.
• Work with the wider Volunteering team and other departments, to support and embed the volunteer journey and good practice in volunteer management.

General

• Comply with RABI’s Health and Safety Policy, Data Protection Policy and to protect your own and others’ health, safety and welfare.
• Take responsibility for professional development, working with your line manager to identify training that will support growth in the role.
• Promote the Charity’s work. Attending external meetings and events in agreement with your manager.

Essential

• Affinity, understanding and demonstration of the goals and objectives of RABI.
•  Project management & leading change – experience of managing projects across an organisation and working with different stakeholders to support change – ideally related to volunteering.
• Volunteer management – very good understanding and experience of volunteering development and management good practice. 
• Learning and development – experience of supporting people’s development and confidence through provision of guidance, e-learning.
• Previous people management experience – including setting goals and managing performance. 
• Communications & interpersonal skills – ability to engage and build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders through good communications.
• IT & digital systems – experience of using and supporting others in use of CRM and similar systems.
• Be resilient and open to change in a developing department, and able to adapt to those changes.
• A positive and creative approach to work.
• Self-motivated and confident in working both independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise workload and plan ahead.
• A full UK driving licence.

Desirable

• Experience of managing and developing a volunteer ambassador programme.
• Experience of using and supporting others in use of MS Dynamics.
