The Carers Information Service was established in 1997 and is part of the John Whitgift Foundation. We are a small, friendly team dedicated to providing free advice, information and support to carers in Croydon.
Offering a wide range of services including health and wellbeing activities, carer's assessments, respite care, bereavement support, digital and printed publications, meeting room hire and much more. We are supported by Croydon Council and work closely with colleagues across the borough from the voluntary and community sector, NHS, and local authority.
As an Advice and Assessment Worker your main responsibilities will be to focus on the Carers Assessment Service in line with the John Whitgift Foundation, Croydon Council and Care Act requirements. This will also include giving advice, information and support to adult carers who are looking after a relative, partner, friend or neighbour of someone who needs help due to illness, disability, or old age.
Based in the ground floor drop-in service at the Carers Support Centre, alongside other Advice Workers, you will provide this service via email, telephone, online and face-to-face. The ability to work well in a team is essential!
This role is for 35 hours per week.

Main Duties

➢ To carry out comprehensive risk assessments and draw safety plans for service users supporting them to access safe accommodation/refuge and referring them to specialist agencies if needed.
➢ To maintain accurate and up to date records, files, and case notes in accordance with KMEWO’s policies and procedures.
➢ To gather statistics and data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, providing reports as required. ➢ To ensure that service users can access interpreting services when required.

A bit about the role:
As an Outreach Support Worker, you will provide a service where planned support and crisis intervention is delivered to vulnerable people with low, medium and high support needs living in independent accommodation with the aim of them maintaining their home. Some of the key results for the role include:
- Being responsible for the effective operation of the Support Service, in line with its policies and procedures, including encouraging a co-operative and supportive environment within the service

Refugee Action exists to work with refugees and people seeking asylum who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes. We are a national charity with more than 40 years’ experience of empowering people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes to secure the protection and support that they need to live with dignity and respect and build a new life in the UK. We do this by providing expert advice and casework, building the capacity of partner organisations and campaigning on the policies that affect them.

- Commitment to removing barriers to power for people with lived experience, and commitment to anti-racist practices.
- Understanding of how the UK’s hostile refugee protection and asylum system impacts those affected by it.
- Understanding of the wider needs (including legal immigration advice needs), hopes and experiences of asylum seekers and refugees in the UK with an understanding of how the UK’s hostile and racialised border regime impacts those affected by it.
- Understanding of the different OISC levels and how they relate to the advice needs of people in the immigration system.
- Facilitation, networking and partnership-building skills, with the ability to initiate and maintain effective collaborative partnership projects or partner network meetings.
- Experience of leading on creating, developing and maintaining partnerships with voluntary, legal or asylum/refugee/migrant sector organisations with a specific purpose.
- Experience of organisational needs assessments leading to an organisational development plan in the context of voluntary sector organisations and their specific needs.
- Understanding of the experiences and needs of different kinds of voluntary sector organisations.
- Experience of either applying for grants or issuing grants / funding, managing small grants (either as grant holder or a grant maker) and ensuring grant monitoring and evaluation is submitted and meets the grant conditions.
- Experience in drafting sensitive and detailed contractual documents between organisations such as Service Level Agreement and/or Memorandum of Understanding.
- Experience of community development work or organisational capacity building that is empowering, preventative and / or asset-based.
- Understanding of how organisations can be supported to increase asylum and immigration legal advice provision within their services, as well as across local area networks.
- Experienced Project Manager who is able to plan and manage their own workload.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to create accurate verbal and written content, presentations and reports in English and confidence to use Information Technology to the required standard.
- Ability to communicate key information about the OISC and the regulation of immigration advisors to organisations of all sizes.
- Experience or understanding of how digital technologies and user research methodology can support capacity building programmes.

Job Purpose
Money Minded: Professional advice and support because your mental health matters
Money Minded is a new service designed to support adults, (18 years and over) in Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow. The service provides support with welfare benefits, accessing debt support, housing and well-being/peer support groups/workshops.
The role of the Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will be to provide advice, guidance and customer representation to tri-borough Residents living with Mental Health difficulties. Advice issues may include, housing, benefits, council tax, accessing debt support, signposting etc.
The successful candidate will deliver support to enquirers and manage a caseload of individuals, as agreed with the Service Manager. In addition to advice casework, the Mental Health Information and Advice Officer will also be expected to assist onboarding referrals to the service, as and when needed.
The successful candidate will be required to work alongside the Team Leader and volunteers supporting on the project, within the Advice Quality Standard framework (AQS) and adhere to Mind’s policies and procedures.
Due to the nature of the work, if successful, you will need to have an up-to-date DBS check completed, prior to undertaking unsupervised client work.

We have a great opportunity for an Advice & Wellbeing Specialist to join the team on a permanent basis. In this Outreach role you’ll be working predominantly within the North West London Region.
As an Advice and Wellbeing Specialist, you will report to the Advice and Wellbeing Team Leader. You’ll deliver proactive and trauma informed support to meet the holistic needs of residents. Your support will be tailored to your resident’s needs, and you will work closely with them to understand their wellbeing concerns and agree an action plan to enable them to sustain their tenancies and feel connected to their community. You will empower residents to manage their wellbeing needs by helping them to develop and maintain skills and resilience to lead independent and fulfilled lives.
You will work collaboratively with wider teams, statutory services external advice and support services to ensure residents have the appropriate support. You will build partnerships with external stakeholders in your area to ensure there is a strong network for support for our residents. You will also be delivering advice and wellbeing support in community wellbeing hubs and providing peer support to colleagues.
What you'll need:
- A Full UK driving licence with access to own car.
- Demonstrable experience dealing with vulnerable people.
