We are seeking a Finance Officer with a keen eye for detail, and an aptitude for learning new skills, to take on purchase ledger and payroll administration duties in our Finance Department. You will have either begun on the path of attaining a financial qualification or had some experience in a similar role. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all purchases, payments and returns, including supplier invoices, staff payments (salaries, expenses and advances), project and contractor payments and credit card transactions. Responsible for project reporting against budget.
Key responsibilities (full responsibilities listed in the application pack):
- Ownership of the purchase ledger system, administering the entire process of invoice receiving, checking, coding, distributing for approval, posting to the accounts software (currently Sage), setting up domestic and international payments for authorisation, and electronic filing of documents.
- Administering all credit card returns including distribution of statements to colleagues, checking and coding returns, collating documents, submitting for line-manager approval, posting to Sage and following up on outstanding items.
- Administering staff and contractors expense claims, advances, returns and funds transfer requests, including checking and coding, submitting for budget-holder approval, arranging payment both domestic and international, and electronic filing of documents.
- Recording project expenditure against budget and drafting project financial returns to meet funder deadlines.

- Exposure to SAGE Line50 or other accounting package.
- Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.

About the role
As our Senior Finance & Operations Officer, you will be at the heart of our organisation’s success. Having been paused to new referrals, Action for M.E.’s free, independent, Adults Advocacy service will soon be re-opening. It’s one of our range of free Support Services that work with adults, young people, and/or families living with M.E. We support colleagues across the team to take part in and share reflective practice, self-care, peer-support and training.
Our Adults Advocacy service offers non-statutory, single-issue, instructed advocacy for adults with a confirmed diagnosis of M.E. We encourage self-advocacy where possible, though many of our clients are too severely affected by M.E. to be able to take undertake this.
As an Adults Advocate, you will manage a caseload of clients, as well as inputting and contributing to the triage process along with your Advocacy colleagues. You will meet with clients by phone, email, Zoom and/or SMS; we can also facilitate communication by post if this is required. We are not able to offer home visits or face to face meetings.

About the role:
As a Political Advocacy Officer, your role will be to work with policy and programmatic experts to help influence government, parliamentary and sector targets, coordinate events, and play a part in mobilising World Vision’s tens of thousands of UK supporters around our cause of standing with the world’s most vulnerable children. About you:
We’re looking for someone with creativity and drive, who is confident engaging and building relationships with political decision-makers and networks.
You’ll need superb writing skills, good working knowledge of and/or interest in UK government and politics and be skilled in building relationships to influence change. Experience in international development, and/or UK politics is desired but not required. We are looking for a team player with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and grow. Most importantly, you must be passionate about advocating alongside and for children in the world’s poorest and most fragile places, and ensuring their needs and voices are heard at the highest level of government and parliament.
Key skills required for this role:
· Educated to degree level or equivalent level of thinking gained through experience.

About the Role

About the role
As Senior Health Officer: Knowledge Management and Communication, you will be responsible for the knowledge management and MEAL functions for the health team. This will include collection, collation and dissemination of learning and evidence from across key country and donor markets. You will also be responsible for the dissemination and communication through various platforms, social media outlets. Within this role you will play a key role in highlighting both internally and externally the health team's achievements and keep the Movement updated on the impact they have had both in the UK and globally, while also reporting on all active grants and partnerships. You will get to work closely with all technical advisors and play an important role in the production of the team's publications as well as in organising policy advocacy events at the UK parliamentary and global levels.
In this role, you will:
- Lead on the learning, reporting and communications for the health team, including on the various advocacy projects, grants and workstreams.
- Play a leading role in editing the health team's reports and policy briefing documents, including any research, fact-checking or writing that is required.
- Lead on updating and maintaining the health team's web pages. While maintaining brand requirements.
- Deliver high-quality editorial content for a wide range of planned key corporate communications, in line with the organisation's priorities and brand, implementing Save the Children's editorial style and standards.
- Ensure health team develop quality materials, blogs and thought pieces, while implementing our brand positioning, communications guidelines, and house style.
About you
To be successful, it is important that you have:
- Demonstrable experience of high-quality health policy advocacy work, including writing and editorial skills.
- Experience of working with a range of partners to engage key policy stakeholders.
- Ability to write compelling, imaginative copy tailored for different audiences, explain complex issues in accessible and motivating language.
- Ability to research, absorb and retain information accurately and to lead publication projects where necessary.
- Experience of writing for the internet and other digital outlets. Understanding of basic web processes and ability to perform basic alterations to our website where necessary or liaise with developers to progress these.

Ways of Working:

Some of the key responsibilities:
- Leading on strategically planned engagement and growth across all our communications audiences, channels and initiatives. Including defined communications moments, brand engagement, UK advocacy communications and cross departmental campaigns.
- Own War Child UK’s voice and brand, providing consistency in tone and messaging across all channels and ensuring that our voice and brand is engaging to our wide range of audiences
- Lead on creating and assessing opportunities for cross departmental communications campaigns to increase fundraising and/or brand awareness, including overarching narratives and key campaigns each year
- To provide first-rate line management to the Communications & Content team and line manage the Marketing Lead and PR Manager. You will model excellence in management that will result in the team thriving in their roles, with high standards of performance and behavior, and team members that are developed to achieve their best, whilst maintaining strong wellbeing. As a Head of, you will model these high standards of performance and behavior to support the Fundraising Engagement Director and other functions across War Child UK.
- Use your experience to provide insight and recommendations to the Fundraising Engagement Director and War Child UK CEO when communications decisions are needed
- In most instances you will be accountable for the successful delivery of campaigns led by others in your team, in some instances – including cross departmental communications campaigns - you will lead on end to end delivery
You will be:
- Strategic, with experience of designing and delivering communications strategies across a wide portfolio
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of emotional intelligence to deal with a variety and internal and external stakeholders and the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
- A diverse knowledge of communications delivery, with the ability to transfer this knowledge and adapt your experience to different audiences, objectives and campaigns
- Experience of team resource and people management and able to delegate tasks in a clear and concise manner.
- A clear understanding of the importance of brand behaviour and having a strong tone of voice. You are able to use this to instil ways of working across an organisation to achieve success
- Able to set up and manage a successful press function
- Experience of policy and advocacy initiatives, delivering public facing advocacy campaigns and getting traction in the media
- Experience of humanitarian emergencies and managing a media responses to work for a UK market.

The busy, award-winning Alzheimer’s Society national media team is looking for a proactive, strategic and experienced Media Officers to deliver our proactive and reactive press activity to raise the profile of Alzheimer’s Society as the only dementia charity to tackle every aspect of dementia and give help for today and hope for the future.
This is a full-time, permanent role and you’ll be joining the organisation at an exciting, defining and hopeful time for dementia. You’ll be working in a friendly, busy team and on a variety of projects across fundraising, influencing, research, innovation and brand.
We’re looking for someone with proven press office and/or journalistic skills and experience to work flexibly across priority campaigns to secure consistent, quality media coverage that instigates and sustains dialogue on dementia.
You will devise and deliver media activity involving our storytellers (case studies), high-profile celebrity ambassadors and supporters, researchers and thought leaders. Your work will show the devastation of dementia, while sharing the help available and the hope the future brings.
Most colleagues in the media team work from home, but we are open to being flexible and provide you with a flexible/hybrid option to work in our offices.
