ABOUT THE ROLE
We have a new service based in Lewisham, we are looking for a specialist to join the team as a Substance Misuse/Dual Diagnosis Worker. You will be based within our SLaM Independent Community Rehabilitation Service which runs 24 hours a day. It provides specialist enhanced rehabilitation support to adults typically aged between 18 and 65 who are diagnoses with severe and enduring mental health needs, who would benefit from an intensive rehabilitation and recovery-focused approach. We provide accommodation and support across two sites in Catford.
In this role, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve improved outcomes. You will deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills. You will work to the long term support needs of our residents and work towards facilitating improved outcomes.
Shift Pattern: This role is part time 22.5 hours per week which could range 09:00- 17:00 or 14:00 - 22:00

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet resident/participant needs.
Include appropriate substance misuse interventions within support plans for those with co-occurring substance dependence and mental health need devising systematic plans for care; implementing this plan; coordinating the input of others and evaluating effectiveness. - Undertake joint holistic assessments and risk assessments with residents/participants to help determine service and support needs and identify where these can be met. Provide outcome-based support measured against goals, recovery, and achievements.
- Encourage residents/participants to identify and define their own goals and work towards being resilient and independent as possible, support with reducing reliance on clinical interventions and hospitalisations.
- Promote active involvement of those with substance dependency and dual diagnosis, assist residents/participants to identify their own strengths, personal interests and goals and support them to access and participate in activities of their choice.
- Undertake time-limited, SMART, and a range of evidence-based interventions such as 1-1’s, including harm minimisation, increasing awareness and motivation through stages of change and relapse prevention.
- Support in creating and maintaining a welcoming, psychologically informed home environment for residents/participants, ensuring a continuous focus on safety, health, and wellbeing.
- Positively promote and support connections with local communities and boroughs of SIG’s services and liaise with other teams to maintain and share knowledge and links to support people to access resources which include print, personal and digital.
- Develop community links and liaise regularly with a range of agencies and individuals across voluntary and third sector services in the community including but not limited to; drug and alcohol services, supported employment schemes, gyms and healthy living programmes, recovery colleges, and benefits and advice agencies.
- Act as a role model for staff of all disciplines and grades working with people with co-occurring mental health, alcohol and/or drug problems.
- Share knowledge and skills to help enhance awareness around dual diagnosis and best practice, challenges, and services available with other services of Social Interest Group.
Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.
KEY CRITERIA
What we are looking for:
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with people of complex backgrounds. Ideally ex-offenders, those with enduring mental health, substance misuse and challenging behaviours
- Experience of assessing needs and strengths, and supporting people with dual diagnosis and complex needs
- Previous experience in a similar role, providing holistic assessments and support for people experiencing mental illness who use substances
- IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software
- Able to recognise ill health and additional support and need for interventions
- Knowledge of the interactions between mental health problems and drug and alcohol use and the issues facing people trying to stabilise their situation
- Applied knowledge of the principles of risk assessment and risk management, particularly in relation to harm minimisation
- Ability to engage those who may be hard to reach, able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others
What we would like, but not essential:
- Experience in delivering training in motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Theory informed approaches and other relevant recovery models

About us
Providence Row believes that no one should have to sleep rough and that everyone should have access to the support they need to find a safe place to call home. The Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Treatment Grant (RSDATG) programme was established in 2020 and is based within The Dellow Centre; run by Providence Row. The service aims to support and enhance the quality of life for all locally connected rough sleepers in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets; by offering through care service from initial engagement and harm reduction and for some, then moving into treatment, and then recovery.
The role:We are recruiting to fill two vacancies. The role will involve but is not limited to the following.
- Holding a caseload of people who are sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness through eviction, where their substance and/or alcohol use has impacted on their housing and ability to sustain accommodation
- To work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure positive outcomes are achieved, safeguarding is shared and to increase the persons access to support services.
- Increase the total number of people accessing structured treatment & recovery through a bespoke pathway for rough sleepers as well as sustain treatment for these individuals, reduce their risks, and support bespoke planned treatment exits or transitions into community-based services (continuity of care).
- Reducing barriers of accessing Primary Healthcare services, such as GP registration, attending hospital appointments and specialist health services by advocating for and supporting clients.
- Attending and coordinating client related MDT’s and attendance at meetings relating to the rough sleeping community
- Delivering a non-judgemental, non-coercive needle exchange service that centres each person’s own goals in regard to their substance use and overall wellness.
- You will lead on delivery of Naloxone distribution & training internally and to external partners
- You have excellent communication skills and can create positive working relationships with a wide range of people, including external services.
- You will support the development of the service and ensure that you are delivering a solution-focussed and strength-based approach.

Your challenge? To do everything you can to help the individuals we work with to source appropriate work experience placements with local organisations/employers. Day to day, you’ll offer support, careers advice and guidance, helping people to set their own recovery and employment focused goals and provide training in personal and skills development such as CV preparation, interview techniques etc. You’ll also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive links with partner organisations, local employers and Mental Health teams and have the initiative to develop and promote the service. - Ensure all participants understand their rights and responsibilities and have access to the right tools and resources, to support them back into society and building networks.
- Provide advice, information, guidance and life skills training to participants.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external persons and agencies.
- Administration duties will vary. may include but is not limited to; complete participant records, reports, support plans, risk assessments, case notes, and other documentation for internal and external stakeholders as required and with accordance to policy and procedure.
- Other duties may include but not limited to, maintain clean and tidy offices and communal areas, removing rubbish, reporting repairs and ordering/replenishing supplies.

KEY CRITERIA
What we are looking for:
- Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours or a good understanding of the sector.
- IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
- Ability to manage own caseload and determine priorities with time management. Able to use own initiative
- Understanding and/or practical application of key legislation regarding social care, housing, criminal justice and mental health
- Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with mental health issues, addiction, exploitation, homelessness and within the criminal justice system
What we would like, but not essential:
- Experience working with different agencies/organisations and understanding the multi-disciplinary approach (For example working alongside MAPPA)
- Appropriate professional qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Community Justice/Psychology or professional equivalent
- Experience of providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role
- Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs

As well as responsibility for the operational management of the service, including service delivery within policies, procedures and quality standards, the Registered Manager will ensure the service complies with relevant legislation and will oversee the work of a team that comprises of 1 Peer Support Coordinator, 1 Administrator, 1 Community Links Worker and 2 Team Managers that provide line management support for 15 Recovery Workers.
The Registered Manager will also help the Regional Operations Lead to prepare and deliver business plans and budgets. Substantial experience of contract management and the competency it takes to manage regulated activity and attain relevant qualifications as well as meeting the standards required by CQC. A proven ability to develop business plans and manage budgets is important too, as is an up-to-date understanding of the recovery/crisis management model and the ability to ensure the safe management of medication.
You are outcome focused, with a collaborative and flexible approach, you're great at motivating and inspiring others, adept at managing conflicting priorities, negotiate with tact and diplomacy and have good investigation skills. You will also need skills in managing conflicting demands and priorities, motivating staff and delegating work, as well as a good understanding of managing client risk and safe working practices. A relevant professional social care qualification to support your experience would also be an advantage.

As SCT’s HR and Quality Manager you will report to the CEO and work closely with the SMT and wider management team, including SCT’s Co-Production worker and external HR Consultancy. You will ensure SCT works to a consistently high standard across all areas in the recruitment, support, engagement, management and development of high calibre staff and volunteers; leading, promoting and implementing key HR initiatives across the organisation and providing SCT managers with expert advice, coaching and support in consultation with SCT’s external HR consultancy provider, in the areas of:
- Employee and volunteer human resources and people management (circa 70% of time)
- Continuous quality improvement (e.g. development of policies and procedures and coordination of corporate function accreditation review) – circa 10% of time
- Health, Safety and Wellbeing – circa 10% of time
- GDPR – circa 5% of time
- Head office Administration – circa 5% of time

Expected experience and competencies we would like to see from you:
- CIPD qualified to level 5 or significant HR management experience will also be considered
- 4+ years demonstrable generalist HR Management experience or similar role types
- Demonstrable experience of working across multiple sites
- Excellent communication skills both in the written form and in person with the ability to adapt to all audiences
- Experience of presenting material to a range of audiences and report writing
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise own workload, deal with conflicting demands and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- The ability to work to a schedule of deliverables where requirements can change
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and methodical research skills with the ability to think creatively and strategically
- Excellent IT skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint with HRIS system experience
- A willingness to work flexibly and proactively and respond to the emerging needs of the charity and our supporters
- Ability to work across teams and departments in a collaborative manner and to proactively engage colleagues on projects and initiatives
- A creative, enthusiastic and motivated ‘can-do’ approach
- Sensitivity to the complexities of cross-cultural communication and able to sustain good working relationships across multiple sites and in person
- An empathy with the aims, objectives and activities of SCT.
The following additional competencies would also be valuable but are not essential
- Health & Safety qualified such as NEBOSH
- Previous experience in managing third party relationships
- Charity / third sector experience
- Experience of using Breathe HR
- CIPD qualified to level 7
This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week, usual working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with an unpaid hour for lunch. You will be based at the SCT Head Office in Haggerston (E8) and other SCT sites in East London, with the ability to work from home up to 2 days per week.

We help individuals find paid employment or return to work after a period of ill health. We also assist employers and employees to successfully resolve mental health problems and other health issues in the workplace. But, it’s only possible with the help of people like you.

To do everything you can to help the individuals we work with to source appropriate, meaningful paid roles with local organisations/employers. Day to day, you’ll offer support to individuals who are suffering with mental ill health and other chronic health conditions, offering careers advice and guidance, helping people to set their own recovery and employment focused goals and provide training in personal and skills development such as CV preparation and interview techniques. You’ll also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive links with Primary care providers, clinical teams, partner organisations, local employers and other relevant agencies and have the initiative to develop and promote the service. Additionally, you will have responsibility for maintaining efficient admin systems to ensure referrals, assessments and reviews are completed in a timely manner.
As well as a good understanding of the IPS model of working, mental and physical health problems and the issues and barriers this can create for our clients, you’ll need excellent motivational, presentation and listening skills and a willingness to travel in the local area and to work outside of office hours as required. Excellent organisational and time management skills are required, as well as the ability to prioritise workload and be flexible to the demands of this ever changing role.
There are 10 roles available which are based in Woking. The post-holder will be required to be a car driver.
This is a permanent full time role requiring the post holder to work 37.5 hours per week.

About the role
- Leading on a busy needle exchange service, you will offer harm reduction advice & support to all people who access the service.
- You will oversee stock levels and ordering of new supplies, with an emphasis on ensuring all stock is stored safely.
- You will ensure policies, procedures, and quality control are in place for all people and staff when carrying out the Needle Exchange and further develop good practice.
- Delivering a non-judgemental, non-coercive needle exchange service that centres each person’s own goals in regard to their substance use and overall wellness.
- You will lead on delivery of Naloxone distribution & training internally and to external partners
- You have excellent communication skills and can create positive working relationships with a wide range of people, including external services.
- You will support the development of the service and ensure that you are delivering a solution-focussed and strength-based approach.
