The Role

As FareShare continues to build broad and successful partnerships with key food suppliers across the UK, the Impact Reporting Officer will play a vital role in managing data and effectively demonstrating our impact to the food industry. This position is central to achieving our mission of saving usable surplus food and feeding communities.

This role is a reporting and systems lead, providing administrative and analytical support to the Food Team with a primary focus on consolidating and managing food volume data. Demonstrating to companies the difference their food makes  in an informative and engaging way is a key driver of continued support and motivation for the food industry. We seek a fast learner who can engage across various internal systems, including FareShare’s national WMS, Power BI, and our CRM Salesforce.

Working closely with the Food Team, the role will extract and manipulate data from our systems, presenting it meaningfully in reports and updates for our key food partners. Additionally, this role will collaborate with FareShare’s in-house technology department (The Info Centre) to champion and support the maintenance and accuracy of systems used within the Food Team, ensuring account records are up-to-date, and live reporting is both accurate and beneficial to account managers while adhering to GDPR policies.

This role will champion the further embedded usage of our CRM system (Salesforce) to better manage multifaceted relationships with our partners across the food industry. Having a clear and aligned view of the relationships across the industry is central to our ability to achieve our ambitions in partnership excellence. This role will both support the teams in keeping the CRM accurate and work with the Info Centre in suggesting and implementing builds and developments to the CRM that enhance our ability to successfully track and monitor key relationships.

Alongside the ownership of our impact data, this role will also contribute to cross-departmental data analytics projects and support the Marketing team to gather qualitative impact stories. Across both qualitative and quantitative impact data, this role will look to translate all of this into meaningful insights for companies that highlight FareShare’s work and ultimately help to deliver more food for those that need it.

Main areas of responsibility

Impact Reporting

• Design, build and implement impact reporting activities across the Food Team, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with key partner joint partnership plans
• Develop and implement best practices for impact reporting to effectively communicate the difference made by partners’ food .
• Support the gathering of qualitative impact stories, working collaboratively with charity partners and individuals to compile compelling narratives.
• Bridge the gap between qualitative and quantitative impact data, translating both into meaningful insights that resonate with key stakeholders.
• Develop content that effectively communicates the broader impact of our initiatives to both corporate and charity partners.

Data Analysis and Insights

• Provide comprehensive reports and analyses on food partner volumes, aiding Commercial Manager presentations and reports to food partners, including Tesco reporting requests.
• Utilise analytical skills to extract meaningful insights from various internal systems, contributing to informed decision-making and strategy formulation (including where possible providing data to marketing team and to support commercial decisions across the procurement team).
• Collaborate with Commercial Managers to support data gathering for monthly reporting and quarterly/annual forecasting and targeting.
• Contribute to cross-departmental projects and discussions as the Food Team data lead

CRM System Enhancement

• Champion the embedded usage of the CRM system (Salesforce) to enhance relationship management with partners in the food industry.
• Collaborate with the Info Centre to suggest and implement CRM builds and developments that improve tracking, monitoring, and reporting capabilities.
• Provide hands-on support to the Food Team in improving the effective use of Salesforce, ensuring all team members are proficient in utilising its features.
• Work collaboratively to identify opportunities for CRM optimisation and efficiency gains in managing partner relationships.
• Support in the ongoing assessment of the Partnership Excellence pillar using our CRM

Food Data Accuracy

• Support the maintenance and accuracy of our food volume data across visualisation tools like Power BI, including full ownership of the food team Power BI report.
• Collaborate with the Info Centre to streamline processes related to live reporting, ensuring accuracy and relevance for account managers.

Troubleshooting, System Support and Training

• Work closely with the Food Team to understand how systems, including CRM and Power BI, are utilised for decision-making, strategic planning, and day-to-day operations.
• Offer troubleshooting support, identifying and resolving issues related to system usage and data management.
• Support in the delivery of training on existing systems with the ambition of building a stronger data culture across the Food Team and wider organisation

Role Summary

As the Director of Research and Public Affairs you lead a team working across the full range of research work (including commissioning, grant-making and in-house research) and public affairs work (including policy analysis, advocacy work and mobilising our activists). You also contribute to the charity’s strategies, leadership and governance as a member of the Executive Team. Ultimately, your role is to generate new knowledge; and communicate knowledge, ideas and emotions to change hearts and minds, creating tangible reductions in alcohol harm across the UK.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Leadership, strategy & planning

1. Lead the research and public affairs functions at Alcohol Change UK.

2. Produce and deliver plans across our research and public affairs work programmes that are ambitious for change (impact), realistic given our resources, and consistent with our strategy, our other work programmes, and our values.

3. Set budgets, tightly control costs and identify opportunities for making savings, growing income and making the case for investment.

4. Appropriately monitor and evaluate our research and public affairs work with a view to knowing, growing and showing the impact we make.

Research

5. Work closely with the CEO, Policy and Research Manager, R&P sub-committee and Wales Office to determine and oversee the charity’s programme of commissioned research, research grants, and in-house research.

6. Ensure that all research is designed with impact-in-mind and, once complete, that it delivers on that impact through active and ongoing communication of the findings to the right audiences with the right messages through the right channels.

7. Lead the research function to be the central hub for the charity on the topic of alcohol harm and its solutions, staying on top of new research.

8. Influence the research spending of other agencies (e.g. NIHR) with a view to maximising funding into alcohol research in general.

Public Affairs

9. Lead and manage the charity’s public affairs activity, deploying the CEO, Research & Policy Officer and other staff as a team.

10.  Lead our work with external alliances, such as the Alcohol Health Alliance and the Alcohol and Families Alliance, and on the APPG on Alcohol Harm.

11.  Develop excellent relationships with Parliamentarians, civil servants, charities and other important institutional actors in our field.

12.  Build Campaigner journeys for our engagement audience to best mobilise them to help us with our influencing work.

13.  Lead on the commissioning and management of any external public affairs agencies, parliamentary monitoring services and similar suppliers.

Role Responsibilities:

Administering grant processes:

· Working with the Programme Manager (Social Change) to update application and guidance forms for each funding round

· Work closely with colleagues to set up the grant call in our online grant management system.

· Provide guidance to potential applicants and respond to their queries, e.g. about eligibility.

· Work with colleagues who run the research funding programme to ensure that opportunities for efficiencies and shared processes are maximised

Who are Women’s Aid?   

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federal corption of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.    

Purpose of the Senior Corporate Fundraising Officer role:   

As Senior Corporate Fundraising Officer, the successful candidate will play an integral role in the implementation and maintenance of a rolling programme of prospect identification, research and the nurturing of relationships. Leading on maximising support through the corporate fundraising streams, the post holder will draft and submit applications among other approaches to prospective funders and donors. In addition to developing persuasive cases for support in line with organisational priorities, the post holder will ensure that the activities for which funds are sought are impactful, measurable and can be effectively reported on to funders. Understanding Women’s Aid work, business plans and strategic priorities will be essential, as well as an involvement in fundraising events with the purpose of relationship building, nure and networking.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Corporate Fundraising Officer: 

• Line managing one team member 

• To be responsible for a portfolio of prospective and existing corporate supporters to solicit large donations, funding and ensure meaningful partnerships are created 

• Work to match funders aims with Women’s Aid’s vision, purpose and mission – using creativity and innovation to package up relevant areas of Women’s Aid work and strategy to be appealing to funders 

• Understanding the organisational needs and strategy in order to provide excellent account management to Corporate funders and Major Donors/High Givers. 

• To employ a variety of personal engagement mechanisms to ensure that prospects and supporters become, and remain, fully engaged with our cause whilst ensuring the highest level of standards of data capture are maintained on the organisational CRM.

What we are looking for in our Senior Corporate Fundraising Officer:  

• Proven experience of successful fundraising from Corporate supporters, major & mid level donors and Trusts.

• Experience of acquiring and managing corporate Charity of the Year partnerships.

• Demonstrable initiative and determination. 

• Line management experience. 

• Experience of writing reports on activities, summarising and analysing figures to make recommendations using Word, Excel and databases. 

• Experience of managing events for high level donors. 

• Experience of researching and developing targeted proposals for presentation to prospective corporate partners and major donors. 

• Experience of developing a strategy to meet targets. 

• Excellent attention to detail and accurate record keeping.

• A flexible approach to work, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities. 

• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to liaise with people at all levels, on the telephone, face to face and in writing, and confident making presentations to diverse audiences. 

• Ability to monitor and evaluate patterns of support and match appropriate project proposals. 

• Experience of working within agreed budget constraints, ensuring that expenditure is maintained within budgets, and that income is closely monitored. 

• Experience of compiling budgets for funders. 

• Good knowledge of the funding landscape and of best practice in multiple areas of fundraising (corporate, trusts and foundations, and major donor). 

• Experience of using a CRM database, preferably Raiser’s Edge. 

• Willingness to work occasional unsocial hours as required. 

• Understanding of the role of Women’s Aid, of domestic abuse and the issues relating including the impacts on women and children.

Director of Impact & Development – The Solicitors’ Charity

We’re looking for a Director of Impact & Development to develop and implement income generation and communication strategies and to develop strategy and practice around impact measurement and client feedback collection. The Solicitor’s Charity is the independent charity that, since 1858, has been supporting solicitors and their dependants in times of need or crisis.

Salary: c£66,000 - c£70,500(rising to c£67,250 - c£71,750 after successful completion of 6-month probationary period). The point on these salary ranges at which you will be paid is currently dependent on your location.

Flexible working arrangements are possible, including homeworking with occasional attendance in person at meetings, largely in central London (6-8 per year). Most staff work from home, though we also have an office in southwest London.

The Director of Impact and Development role

 We have recently agreed our strategy for 2024-2026. Two key objectives for this period are to grow and diversify our funding streams and to increase awareness of the charity.  We are also keen to understand better the impact that our activities have on our clients so that we can ensure that we are doing well the things they need to support them and so that we have stories to tell to help with fundraising and communications. Finally, we are keen to engage members of the profession in spreading the word about our work, including through a volunteer ambassadors’ scheme.

As holder of this senior role you will lead in these areas, developing and implementing effective strategies ad processes. You will work initially with our existing communications agency and with fundraising consultants but by the end of the year will need to have formed a view and put in place plans that either continue with these arrangements or bring more work in house.

Success in the role will be shown by significantly more income coming from sources other than our investments and donations of unclaimed client balances by law firms; by more people knowing about, supporting, and approaching the charity for help; and by us understanding better what works to help our clients and using this knowledge to promote development of the charity.

We’re looking for someone with at least 10 years’ experience in leading change in organisations (as an employee and/or a consultant) and evaluating organisational impact through metrics, feedback and benchmarking. At least 10 years’ experience in leading a marketing, communications and/or a fundraising function with proven experience in leading the development and implementation of marketing, fundraising and communications strategies and implementation plans in a similarly sized and geared organisation. You will also have a track record in developing organisational design, targets, operating models and business modelling in the charities and not-for-profit sector.

Other key demonstrable skills and experience include:

· Strong interpersonal and partnership skills, able to influence and work with a range of stakeholders at all levels, within and outside of the organisation.

· Ability to lead and motivate others and create strong working relationships with colleagues at all levels.

· Strategic thinker, able to see the big picture, recognise long-lasting, high impact decisions and implement clear operational delivery plans

· Strong analytical skills to be able to provide analysis of financial information (and other data) and oversight.

· Ability to present ideas, concepts, plans, and policies at Board level (and to a range of individuals, including senior external contacts) clearly and persuasively.

· Experience of working in a flatter organisational structure where levels of resource mean being willing and able to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels.
