We are a high performing specialist College, the first brand new FE College in England since 1993, focused on developing our student’s technical, creative and entrepreneurial mindsets, skillsets and networks. We are passionate about educating, supporting and creating the next generation of digital pioneers, and we are particularly proud of our focus on identifying and supporting students from tougher backgrounds and young women. In November 2018, we were rated ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ features by Ofsted. We are looking for a Director of Finance and Operations, on an interim or permanent basis, to support us during a transition period.

All our students and apprentices are passionate about tech and we are committed to supporting them to progress onto highly skilled roles in the digital sector. We run a high-performing specialist 6th form in which all students study computer science with regular off-curriculum industry projects with partners such as King Games, Deloitte and Bank of America. We consistently are rated in the top institutions in the country for our computer science curriculum. Students can also study a range of related A-levels and BTECs

We also train 240+ Higher Level and Degree Apprentices digital apprentices for 30+ companies ranging from Google to Deloitte, Expedia and the FT as junior developers, data analysts and tech consultants. We use innovative Foundation and BSc. Programmes developed with our employer partners and validated by the OU.

With campuses in Tottenham Hale and Whitechapel we have a very diverse student body from a wide range of backgrounds and are committed to using tech as a tool for social mobility. We offer a supportive culture for students and staff and our excellent industry links mean staff get regular formal and informal CPD to support their learning and development as teachers but also as leaders.

As Director of External Relations you will be responsible for both the high level strategy, including working with the Executive Leadership Team to implement and update the College’s Strategic Plan and, with your team, the daily implementation of a number of key functions. A few are listed here but a fuller list is in the attached job description:

  • Ada’s fundraising activities including corporate philanthropy, major donors, trusts and foundations and implementing a wider individual giving programme.
  • Facilitating and managing the extensive volunteering by industry partners in Ada’s sixth form and apprenticeship programme, including virtually due to pandemic restrictions.
  • Raising the profile of the college including marketing and communications as well as public speaking and network building, and including virtual prospective learner outreach.
  • Managing the outreach and recruitment of sixth form students and apprentices, in line with Ada’s social missions.
  • Defining Ada’s alumni engagement and support strategy

The appointed candidate will be a champion for Ada’s unique mission and have a passion for supporting young people to succeed, especially young women and those from tougher backgrounds.

The right candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the College’s future success and will join at an exciting time in our evolution. We are looking for someone who is engaging, proactive, influential and aligned to our values; someone who will lead change management and who will support and motivate colleagues to be as efficient as possible with their budget, operations and team to drive high performance.
