About the role
The St Mungo’s Pan London Rough Sleeping Teams (No Second Night Out and Somewhere Safe to Stay) provide a rapid response service, intervening to ensure no one needs to sleep rough, our work is ongoing and we are currently looking for inspirational people to join our Somewhere Safe to Stay (SSTS) team in West London currently based in Shepherds Bush. As an Assessment and Reconnection Worker, you will:

Be part of a busy team environment working closely with those new to, or at risk of rough sleeping.

Provide a personalised case management service to clients, turning assessment recommendations into practical action plans which fully involves the client.

Build and maintain effective relationships to support clients throughout their recovery.

Develop a knowledge of relevant legislation such as, welfare benefit and housing legislation.

Work on the weekly rota including weekends and bank holidays, in Mixed Shift roles (Including - early and late day shifts).
About you
These roles will suit people with experience of working at pace in a public facing environment with the ability to adapt to new situations; as well as:

An understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerable people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.

Good communication skills and the ability to work with others whilst managing your own time.

The ability to manage complex behaviours and to deal with people who may be in a difficult personal or emotional situation.

The ability to empower individuals to make positive changes and a willingness to develop these valuable skills.

At St Mungo’s we have a locum bank of approximately 340 casual workers who provide temporary cover, ensuring our services can continue to run smoothly when there are staffing gaps.
We are looking for people who would be interested in joining our locum bank as an Assessment & Reconnection Worker (Locum) to work across our Assessment Hubs and Staging Posts across London.
The St Mung’s Pan London Rough Sleeping Teams (No second Night Out) provide a rapid response intervention service for new rough sleeper to identify and work towards the quickest route away from the streets.
As an Assessment and Reconnection Worker (locum) you will:

What we can offer you
As a casual locum worker you work flexibly, on an ad hoc or temporary basis and can chose to work the shifts that best fit your circumstances – this can be day or night. In order to provide you with ongoing support you will be allocated a supervising manager, and you will have access to training to ensure you have the tools to keep our clients safe. We offer enhanced pay for bank holidays and you can also accrue holiday pay.

Provide a safe and supportive environment at night to clients; and support a team of Assessment and Reconnection Workers, with key tasks; such as implementing reconnection or assessment plans and supporting clients into appropriate accommodation.

Work on a 7 day weekly night rota pattern with an average of 3 waking night shifts in a row (for example 8pm–8.30am or 9pm–8am)
About you
These crucial roles will suit people with an interest in in developing key skills to build a career working in a support role, as well as:

Some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or customers in a busy service environment.

Good communication skills and the ability to work with others effectively to get things done.

Some understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.
