We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Assets who will help us achieve that ambition.

In this role you will support the Director of Assets & Compliance to deliver our strategic objectives, including our statutory and regulatory obligations focusing on the safety of our clients, quality and value for money.

You will oversee Asset, Responsive Repairs and Portfolio teams providing motivational line management to Managers of these teams; supporting them in your key role to ensure the organisation makes sound investment and divestment decisions, implementing the asset management strategy and developing and implementing quality repairs, maintenance and voids standards.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations. 

About you

We are looking for a dynamic, customer centred and systematic Head of Service with experience of successfully delivering strategic asset management and responsive repairs and voids services.

You will have extensive experience of working at a Head of Service/senior management level ideally gained in the housing sector and will have the ability to work with a range of customers, colleagues and external key stakeholders. You will have experience of leading a large functional diverse team, have a solution focused approach and an interest in collaborative team working.
Above all else you’ll be strong leader with a track record of delivering and a talent for driving innovation, quality and customer satisfaction.

Finance Management

Comms & Marketing

• Work with the Communications Team to plan and deliver communication and participant recruitment campaigns and implement appropriate strategic marketing for each project.
• Arrange photography and video documentation as necessary.
• Write copy in line with ICA guidelines to promote programme

General Administration
• Ensure all day-to-day project administration is carried out efficiently and appropriately.

Role Summary

As the Director of Research and Public Affairs you lead a team working across the full range of research work (including commissioning, grant-making and in-house research) and public affairs work (including policy analysis, advocacy work and mobilising our activists). You also contribute to the charity’s strategies, leadership and governance as a member of the Executive Team. Ultimately, your role is to generate new knowledge; and communicate knowledge, ideas and emotions to change hearts and minds, creating tangible reductions in alcohol harm across the UK.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Leadership, strategy & planning

1. Lead the research and public affairs functions at Alcohol Change UK.

2. Produce and deliver plans across our research and public affairs work programmes that are ambitious for change (impact), realistic given our resources, and consistent with our strategy, our other work programmes, and our values.

3. Set budgets, tightly control costs and identify opportunities for making savings, growing income and making the case for investment.

4. Appropriately monitor and evaluate our research and public affairs work with a view to knowing, growing and showing the impact we make.

Research

5. Work closely with the CEO, Policy and Research Manager, R&P sub-committee and Wales Office to determine and oversee the charity’s programme of commissioned research, research grants, and in-house research.

6. Ensure that all research is designed with impact-in-mind and, once complete, that it delivers on that impact through active and ongoing communication of the findings to the right audiences with the right messages through the right channels.

7. Lead the research function to be the central hub for the charity on the topic of alcohol harm and its solutions, staying on top of new research.

8. Influence the research spending of other agencies (e.g. NIHR) with a view to maximising funding into alcohol research in general.

Public Affairs

9. Lead and manage the charity’s public affairs activity, deploying the CEO, Research & Policy Officer and other staff as a team.

10.  Lead our work with external alliances, such as the Alcohol Health Alliance and the Alcohol and Families Alliance, and on the APPG on Alcohol Harm.

11.  Develop excellent relationships with Parliamentarians, civil servants, charities and other important institutional actors in our field.

12.  Build Campaigner journeys for our engagement audience to best mobilise them to help us with our influencing work.

13.  Lead on the commissioning and management of any external public affairs agencies, parliamentary monitoring services and similar suppliers.

14.  Ensure our policy positions are kept up-to-date, based on emerging evidence and contemporary thinking, and consistent with our principles.

15.  Work closely with the Director of Engagement and Fundraising to effectively mobilise and deploy our activists, Community Champions and other supporters so they (i) make a difference, (ii) become better informed over time, and (iii) remain motivated to campaign for our cause.

16.  Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to influence all forms of media to better support our desired outcomes.

Team Leadership and Management

17.  Lead and manage the research and public affairs team(s), ensuring excellent line management.

18.  Lead the process of recruiting and inducting new team members, as appropriate.

19.  Proactively develop your own skills and experience as well as those of staff within your team.

Cross-organisational Role

20.  Act as a spokesperson for the charity at high profile events and across media, including radio and TV.

21.  Be an active and positive member of the charity’s Executive Team.

22.  Work with colleagues across the charity to support their work and to act as ‘one team’.

23.  Work particularly closely with colleagues in the Wales office, optimising opportunities for joint working.

The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is looking for an experienced and results-driven marketing professional with great know-how in marketing opportunities and managing agencies, and a commitment to women’s economic empowerment to join our team as Programme Marketing Manager for 12 months.

About the role

Becoming the Programme Marketing Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is a fantastic opportunity to help drive progress for women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by engaging more people in our work.

The key purpose of this role is to effectively market our programmes to participants – chiefly our HerVenture business skills microlearning app and our sector-leading Mentoring Women in Business programme.

This will span three main projects:

· to successfully manage a marketing agency to effectively market the HerVenture app to women in South Africa (as part of a fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Mar ‘25);

· to successfully manage the same marketing agency to promote the app in Nigeria (as part of a separate fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Dec ‘24); and

· to effectively promote the opportunity to become a mentor to a woman entrepreneur through our Mentoring Women in Business programme to paying professionals worldwide. Your objective will be to secure 18+ paid mentors for the Nov ’24 programme intake and 20+ for the May ’25 intake.

Following the completion of the two HerVenture marketing projects, you will also lead other programme marketing initiatives in 2025. These will be determined in late 2024.

Following the May ’25 Mentoring intake you will deliver a strategy, harnessing your learning and analysis to outline an approach for marketing the programme to paying mentors in future.

You will also be called on to support other forms of programme marketing on an ad hoc basis, for example advising on development of corporate pitch decks, or co-designing materials for fundraising events.

This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing, however this is a highly collaborative role and you will also work closely with the Entrepreneurship programmes team and the Programme Funding team to develop and deliver plans and manage projects.

Our ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and motivated marketer with experience in ‘selling’ professional development / online volunteering opportunities, and in managing agencies and contractors to deliver on fixed projects as aligned to good marketing practices. You should be highly organised and goals-driven, with a collaborative approach, a growth-oriented mindset, and a strong desire to harness the power of marketing to support women’s economic empowerment.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a lively, dynamic and driven fundraising events team. Over the last decade, Breast Cancer Now has built up a strong events function, with community and events currently accounting for nearly a quarter of the charity’s overall voluntary income.

We are now looking for an experienced and passionate events manager to lead a team and help us to continue to deliver our targets and identify new opportunities for our challenge events portfolio. This currently comprises of running events, triathlons, cycling events, overseas and UK challenges. You’ll support the creation and delivery of the events strategy, developing a varied and impactful portfolio which positions Breast Cancer Now as the go-to charity for events.

With the support of the senior events manager, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the Great North Run and Women V Cancer partnership. The post holder will also have their own budget areas working to agreed targets, maximising income, and minimising expenditure through innovative stewardship and strong budget management to maintain engagement and retention of supporters. They will also have line management (not all direct) for 1 event officer, 1 event executive and 1 event assistant.

About you

We’re looking for someone with experience of successfully delivering events programmes, including recruitment of participants, development of supporter journeys and stewardship communications to meet net income and supporter retention targets.

You’ll be an excellent relationship builder, with knowledge of the charity events sector. You’ll be an experienced line manager able to develop your line reports. You’ll also have demonstrable knowledge of setting and meeting financial targets to ensure a good return of investment for the charity.

As well as leading a high performing team we are looking for someone with experience of successfully delivering marketing and recruitment plans, developing supporter journeys and stewardship communications. You’ll be experienced in delivering charity events and possess outstanding organisational, communication and marketing skills. The Fundraising Database Manager will be responsible for the provision of data and user support for all fundraising activities on the Raiser’s Edge system by ensuring that the data on the database is useable, consistent and accurate.

You will have line reports, and will be responsible for managing the team to perform at a high level. You will also develop the team so that they will be a leading force in how the fundraising functionality will be managed in the Foundation’s future.

To be successful in the role, you will have experience in a similar role and be ready to champion the benefits of a fundraising system. You will have line management experience, be able to build rapport, and constantly look for ways to improve.

We have ambitious goals here at the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and are looking for an experienced, strategic, and financially savvy Head of Finance to join us. The RCR is a charity with a focus on supporting doctors who deliver medical imaging and cancer services and we require a passionate and dynamic finance professional to helps us continue making a difference.

The Head of Finance will manage the high-performing finance team consisting of a Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant and Finance Business Partner. Sitting in the Business and Resources Directorate the team are instrumental to the successful running of the RCR. In this role you will be responsible for the operational finance function which handles accounting, financial reporting, planning and transactional activities as well as supporting longer-term strategic planning.

As a finance professional you will use your expertise to further support the RCR by delivering the organisations financial objectives and build strong working relationships with managers to equip them with the tools to make good financial decisions. Furthermore, you will support the Executive Director, Business & Resources in the delivery of effective risk management activities and reporting, lead discussions on how our financial controls and processes may need to change and adapt, shape and drive business performance to ensure your leadership of the finance function results in the delivery of excellent services.

What you’ll do:

• Lead, motivate and develop the finance team to deliver essential business services adapting and anticipating changes in business needs.
• Develop, agree and maintain a suite of internal service standards to meet business needs.
• Plan and lead the organisation’s financial budget process ensuring a comprehensive capture of business needs and advise SMT and managers.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial management accounts are produced according to appropriate standards.
• Maintain a suitable suite of business financial policies, processes and controls that meet the business needs and are compliant with legislation and external standards.
• Lead the provision of commercial advice to directors, managers and staff to ensure best practice on procurement and contract management.

What you’ll need:

• Experience of operating successfully at a Finance Manager or Head of Finance role in a comparable organisation.
• A strategic and critical thinker with the ability to develop a team to deliver on long term goals.
• Understanding of risk, risk management processes and the use of risk analysis to help plan and develop organisations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical/non-professional audiences.
• Skilled manager of people, able to bring together, motivate, coordinate and develop a team.

The role:

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Property and Development will oversee the provision of high-quality asset management and repair services in-line with PBHA values and strategic objectives. Working closely with the Director of Services, the successful candidate will aid in the identification, management and acquisition of opportunities that will enable PBHA’s strategic growth. The role will help to ensure that PBHA’s work, and homes, meet building standards, health and safety obligations, regulatory framework, and will always provide a high-quality service to PBHA tenants.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Spearhead line-management of PBHA’s Property and Development Team through performance management and handling employee relations issues if necessary.
• Organise and coordinate work programmes. 
• Lead Housing Development programmes ensuring compliance with building standards, health and safety and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in the recruitment, selection, induction and onboarding of team members.  
• Participate in on-call rota and respond appropriately to out of hours incidents.
• Provide strategic and operational direction to enhance the long-term management and investment objectives of the property portfolio.
• Ensure PBHA’s assets are surveyed and data records are established and upheld to monitor property condition.
• Oversee and manage stock improvement and maintenance programmes, ensuring that they meet service standards and agreed budgets.
• As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, present to Board and Services Committee, offering recommendations in accordance with the Asset Management Strategy.
• Develop high quality policies, procedures and systems relating to Property and Development Service.

Person specification:

• Experience delivering and improving Repairs and Maintenance Service, preferably for a Registered Provider or Charity.

• Revenue and Capital Budgets experience.
• Staff management experience.
• Building related qualification and professional body membership, e.g. RCIS/MCIOB, degree or HND in building management.
• Knowledge of project management, e.g. PRINCE 2/APM Techniques.
• Experience of housing development issues, funding, approaches and financing.
• Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Prioritisation and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

You’ll have experience in a range of fundraising activities including virtual events. Adept at supporter stewardship and journeys through a variety of channels, such as digital communities, phone, and email. You’ll have a proven track record of achieving and exceeding KPIs. As well as being highly organised, comfortable managing projects and if needed the ability to work to tight deadlines.
