Z2K is an anti-poverty charity which combines direct casework and representation for Londoners experiencing, or at risk of, poverty with national campaigning for social security and housing systems that work for all. About You
We are looking for a committed and proactive individual with knowledge and experience of providing benefits casework that meets quality standards and achieves performance targets. You will have gained experience of benefits advice and casework through paid or other voluntary experience. You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a commitment to working with communities who are highly disadvantaged and a passion for helping people to overcome homelessness and poverty. You will have the ability to interview, advise, and work with service users empathetically, and have a willingness to try new tasks and support the wider team with policy work and online communication such as blogs and case studies. From time to time you may be asked to work outside of usual working hours.
This post is a fixed term contract ending 30th June 2021 working full time. We are currently working remotely in line with government guidance. If guidance changes the role will be based in Westminster.

Carers Support Merton
Carers Support Merton (CSM) is a well established and respected charity in the London Borough of Merton with an ambitious development programme of work to support promote and improve the quality of life of unpaid carers from the age of 5 years. CSM has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Skills Project Coordinator to join our friendly team on a fixed term basis of 12 months with possible extension subject to funding.
The pandemic has spurred us on to embrace technology as an effective tool with which to deliver our services. It has made us all the more determined to bridge the divide between those Carers who rely on such technology for their daily interactions and those without access to the Internet, or indeed the skills to take advantage of it, and who are subsequently missing out on a wealth of knowledge, information and services as a result.
The project will train volunteer Digital Champions from the local community to provide Carers with one-to-one or small group support to develop basic digital skills to reduce isolation and increase access to information, advice and services. Training will take place remotely initially, but as the COVID restrictions lift face to face at community venues or in Carers homes. The project will also address access to equipment and connectivity through distributing equipment on a loan or a donated basis.
The post will include line management responsibility for one other part time post holder.

Safe Passage is recruiting an Operations Assistant to support our operations internationally, and to enable continuing and sustainable growth in our ground-breaking work to ensure that safe, legal routes to sanctuary exist for all people seeking asylum. This is a practical and administrative role that is crucial to the effective operations of a young and successful refugee charity.
Experience in a similar role would be welcome, but this could also be your first paid position in the charity sector, or you could be returning to work after time out. We are looking for strong, transferrable administrative and organisational skills. This position will have a dedicated training budget and you will be supported to grow and develop within your role.
You will be attentive to detail, flexible, efficient, great at time management, and able to work well both independently and under supervision as part of a small and energetic team. A keen interest in the charity/NGO/refugee sectors is advantageous.
Closely supporting the International Operations Manager, you will facilitate the day-to-day work of Safe Passage across all our entities in the UK, Greece, and France. You will provide remote support to our teams in Athens and Paris, as well as Campaigns, Legal & Arrivals, Fundraising, and Board of Trustees in the UK. This is a varied and dynamic role that works across HR, logistics, volunteer, IT, payroll, and facilities functions.

About the roles
These new posts offer an exciting opportunity to play a driving role in launching a new package of services for young people across the economically disadvantaged but beautifully diverse East Ham area of Newham. Each role is 36 hours per week and for an initial fixed term period of 2 years pending further funding. Our ideal candidates will have significant youth work experience, a passion for working with young people from diverse backgrounds and a high level of motivation to develop an excellent and impactful youth offer. You will be excellent relationship builders that are enthused by partnership working, and given current circumstances you will also need to be creative in your approach to adapt youth engagement offers safely and in line with Covid-19 restrictions. You will need to demonstrate that you are professional, organised, efficient and able to manage our sessional youth staff, sports coaches, junior leaders and workshop providers. You will also have a robust understanding of safeguarding policy and procedures.
With one role based predominantly at BDCA (London E6) and the other at RP (London E12), you will work together to plan, lead, manage and evaluate sessions in venues across the East Ham community, ensuring project outcomes are effectively delivered. Key shared project outcomes are:
- Provide safe places to enjoy = at least 6 venues will be open for a total of 1759 hours of youth activities each year.
- Increase youth engagement = Each year, at least 495 unique young people will access our regular activities and accredited courses and feel a greater sense of community connection as a result.
- Grow youth leadership = Each year, at least 45 young people will receive intensive year-long support to achieve their best and build their hope and agency to make positive change in their own lives and in their wider community too through accredited youth leadership courses and social action campaigns.
- Deliver inspiring and diverting activities = Each year, the programme will deliver at least 25 co-produced activities including sports, creative arts, wellbeing workshops, free play, tuition support, educational workshops, offsite trips, training and mentoring.
Each role will however have slightly different areas of responsibility as follows:
Youth co-ordinator 1 (BDCA)
This post holder will be specifically responsible for coordinating: four outdoor MUGA sports sessions and one outdoor BMX session per week; year round Saturday volunteering sessions for young sports leaders; support to complete Duke of Edinburgh award scheme led by specialist partner and an annual music production project led by specialist provider. They will also be directly delivering: three virtual activity videos per month; two annual residentials for 15 participants; three-week summer volunteering placement with accredited Sports Leadership Award for 30 participants; monthly Stepping Up life skills training and social action campaign planning workshops plus regular mentoring calls for 15 participants; annual music premiere event for up to 100 attendees; and 10 day trips per year for up to 15 participants.
Youth co-ordinator 2 (RP)
This post holder will be specifically responsible for coordinating and delivering five evening youth clubs per week including a tuition club, journalism club and three drop-in free play sessions with creative workshops. They will be charged with leading the project’s monthly youth forums during the above sessions and also supporting participants to attend borough-wide Youth Citizens Assemblies and Area Youth Forum meetings. So as well as delivering high quality inclusive activities in safe supervised spaces, this new Project Coordinator will focus on increasing access to platforms where youth voices can be heard and younger leaders are supported to help steer local services to boost engagement and impact.

Marine Society and Sea Cadets are seeking to appoint a Growth & Development Worker to join our team. You will be home based but will be required to travel around the area. You will join us on a part-time, fixed term basis working 21 hours per week for 6 months, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £25,000 Gross per annum (pro rata).
Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a leading maritime charity in lifelong learning and personal development and is the governing charity of the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), a civilian voluntary youth organisation engaging some 15,000 young people over 400 Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK. The SCC offers a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective – to give young people the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure and fun.
The Growth and Development team is based across the UK and works on a variety of projects that aim to grow the Sea Cadets. These projects include setting up new Juniors Sections, supporting Sea Cadet units in schools and helping existing Sea Cadet units to develop plans and strategies for sustainable growth.
Key areas of focus for our Growth & Development Worker include:

We are recruiting for a part time purchase ledger assistant for a grant giving charity , the role is 3 days a week and they are fairly flexible on the days but if a Wednesday would be preferable , the role will be remote working .
The Role
Enter supplier invoices and credit notes into the Purchase Ledger for either the Charity or the subsidiary.
Ensure all invoices are coded accurately, and are correctly authorised for payment by the authorised budget holder, and have correct VAT treatment including zero-rating (medical VAT exemptions), standard, or reduced VAT when appropriate. Withhold payment if necessary until correct authorisation is recorded, before entering them into the purchase ledger system.
Coordinate the correction of any errors, making contact with suppliers where appropriate.
Create accounts for new suppliers as necessary, ensuring appropriate authority to use the supplier has been received and all due diligence has been carried out.
Reconcile supplier statements and contact suppliers for duplicate invoices if not previously paid.
Answer queries over non-payment of invoices promptly.
Operate anti-fraud controls diligently - Contact the senior leadership of any supplier who changes their bank details, to verify that changes are valid. Withhold payment until changes have been properly verified.
