About Leeds Hospitals Charity
Leeds Hospitals Charity is the charity partner of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We champion, support and gives thanks to our NHS, bringing together thousands of donors so we can make a real difference to the people and patients of Yorkshire. We do this by funding life-saving equipment, treatments, research into rare diseases and home comforts – whatever will make the biggest impact to the people who need it most.
We are passionate about healthcare and about making our hospitals amazing – our vision is to make Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust to be the best hospital, in the healthiest city in the UK.
Each year we award grants of around £4 million to support the innovative work of our hospitals. Our most recent fundraising appeal, for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND, will see a brand new, purpose-built care centre be opened at Seacroft Hospital in late 2025, transforming care for patients with motor neurone disease and their families.

Our Trustees
Leeds Hospitals Charity (Registered charity no. 1170369). has a fully independent Board of Trustees, who are also appointed as Directors of Leeds Hospitals Charity (Company Number 10492128), which is incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 as a private company. We also have a separate trading subsidiary, LHC Enterprise Limited (Company Number 13438357), with its own Directors.
The Board of Trustees currently comprises 12 Trustees; the Chair is Dr Yvette Oade OBE, who is in her second three-year term as a Trustee and her second year as Chair of the Charity.
The Role
Leeds Hospitals Charity is looking to appoint up to four new Trustees to enhance the Board’s skills and expertise to help shape and grow the Charity to provide the best support to our NHS.
The successful candidates may have interest and insight into the issues facing health-related charities and they may also have experience as a Trustee, or in a similar role in another context, but neither of these are essential.
Trustees use their knowledge and experience to make a strategic and principled contribution to the work of the Charity, encouraging innovation and bringing to bear their analytical skills. A willingness to be challenging but constructive, and an ability to engage with detail, are essential for this role.
We are seeking candidates with a wide range of relevant skills and experience but are particularly interested in those candidates with experience in the following sectors:
· Accountancy or audit
· Legal
· Academic or health
· Community or charity
Leeds Hospitals Charity strongly believes that greater diversity improves performance and we aim to attract talented people to reflect the communities with which we work. Although they are volunteers, our Trustees have independent control over, and legal responsibility for the charity’s management and administration. Trusteeship can be rewarding for many reasons, from a sense of making a difference to the charitable cause, to new experiences and relationships.
Commitment
This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Trustees are expected to be able to commit around 12 days a year, for committee meetings, Board meetings and development days.
We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds and flexibility is offered to those candidates who may have caring responsibilities.
We are looking for someone who will:
· Support and provide advice on the Charity’s purpose, vision, goals, and activities.
· Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
· Oversee our financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
· Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
· Provide support and challenge to the Charity’s CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority
· Keep abreast of changes in the Charity’s operating environment.
· Contribute to regular reviews of the Charity’s own governance.
· Attend meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
· Contribute to the broader promotion of the Charity’s objects, aims and reputation by utilising your skills, expertise, knowledge, and contacts.
The successful person will:
· Bring relevant experience from their own professional sector, with some additional knowledge of the third sector.
· Be constructively challenging and attentive to detail.
· Be able to use their independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to protect the Charity’s best interests.
· Have an interest in health-related charity issues or prior Trustee experience (although these are not essential)

Thank you for your interest in Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth (CAML). This pack sets out more information about the charity, the board, the role of a trustee, and how to apply.
We are excited about the future and are looking for energetic, talented and committed individuals to help support the charity as trustees to continue its incredible work for the people of Merton and Lambeth.
What we do
CAML is one of the busiest advice charities in London. We support individuals and families who live, work or study primarily in the London Boroughs of Merton and Lambeth and also elsewhere (dependent on service). We also work to raise awareness and understanding of the challenging issues affecting individuals and our communities.
We were one of the first Citizens Advice services to open our doors over 85 years ago. We have had an extremely busy few years, with individuals and families increasingly seeking our support with the cost of living crisis. Our support and services are as important today as they were when our work began.
We are part of the national Citizens Advice network of over 240 local charities that deliver advice across the country.
In FY 23/24, we supported over 25,000 individuals. Our information, support and advice services are provided via telephone, online, video conferencing and face-to-face. We provide face-to-face support from two CAML offices and multiple outreach venues in local communities. Our aim is to empower people to better help themselves, but we are always here with further support if needed.
CAML in 2025
CAML is at an important point in its history. Demand for our services continues to accelerate as high levels of hardship become an established reality for many people living in our boroughs. The two boroughs we serve contain pockets of wealth and affluence, but also feature areas of significant poverty and deprivation where our services are most depended upon.
At the same time, similar to many charities, we face funding challenges – not least given the majority of our funds come from our local authorities. Our current turnover is over £1.2m a year. Like others, CAML faces funding challenges often related to changes in central government policies and local government financial challenges, with a need to look at new ways of diversifying income streams.
The organisation has a strong foundation from which to deliver in this difficult environment – particularly with a team that is committed to our clients and expert in giving quality advice. We also have positive working relationships with our funders, councils and partners, and a strong local reputation.
Our leadership
The operational leadership and management of CAML is carried out by our CEO, Simon Shimmens, with three senior managers and a team of around 40 staff and 20 volunteers. Short biographies of our existing trustees are available on our website.
The role of the Board
Each trustee has a responsibility to contribute to discharging the Board’s responsibilities. We do this by:
● Regularly preparing for, attending and participating in meetings
● Understanding the business of CAML
● Contributing to setting policy and strategic direction, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance
● Monitoring our services, ensuring compliance with our governing documents and policies and monitoring maintenance of Citizens Advice standards
● Monitoring the charity’s financial position and ensuring it operates within its means and delivers on its objectives with clear lines of accountability for day-to-day financial management
● Supporting the charity’s development through participation in agreed projects
● Actively seeking to further CAML’s strategic objectives and acting in its best interest at all times
Above all we are looking for people with strategic vision and independent judgement who together can support the charity and its executive team. As trustees we are visible to our staff and volunteers, engaging and recognising the excellent work they do. Each trustee is expected to spend time with service delivery staff and volunteers, ideally at least once a year.
You will be a genuine team player, able to support colleagues, input constructively and positively to discussions and to support and uphold collective decisions.
As a trustee you will support the charity’s values and objectives and will act as a positive and genuine advocate promoting the work of the charity within your personal networks and to the wider world.
The commitment we need
Each trustee attends quarterly Board meetings and is a member of one of the delegated authority sub-committees – Finance and People – which also meet once a quarter.
While the precise nature will differ month-to-month, this is likely to average at eight to ten hours a month. This allows for board and committee meetings, reading papers in advance of these, ad-hoc actions and discussions, and visiting CAML’s services.
Board meetings are currently held in person in our Mitcham Office, with sub-committee meetings held remotely. Across the Board, we attend key events such as Volunteers’ Week and charity events/activities.
Particular skills/experiences we’re seeking
We are looking to recruit two new trustees to join our strong and dynamic Board.
We would particularly welcome applications from those with skills and experiences to help complement the current Board. Our priority recruitment areas are:
●HR: We are committed to ensuring the highest standards of governance in policies and practice related to employee relations, recruitment, retention, reward and recognition as well as staff and trustee training and development. We are seeking a trustee with senior HR experience to support the strategic oversight of our People approach.
●Accountancy: Financial oversight is an integral part of a well-functioning trustee Board. We are looking to further bolster this expertise within the Board to provide support for our Treasurer if required.
●Pensions: CAML has a legacy Defined Benefit pension scheme (closed to new entrants) and a Defined Contribution scheme. We are looking for an individual with actuarial or pension trustee skills to advise the Board with regard to our pension schemes, and whether we should be looking to make any changes.
●Legal: We are looking to further expand our legal expertise on the Board. We particularly welcome interest from individuals with experience in charity law however all applicants with legal experience are welcomed.
In addition to these skills, we would welcome applications from candidates with previous trustee experience and/or applicants who may be open to taking on the role of Vice-Chair (further information can be provided on this if requested).

The ASE is currently looking for a Trustee with a financial background to join our Trustee Body as Treasurer. Next year marks the centenary of the establishment of the Powell-Cotton Trust; it is an opportunity to embed good practice and sector leadership that enable us to secure the success of the next 100+ years of the Trust.
What will you be doing?
The Powell-Cotton Trust (PCT) is looking to recruit a new trustee with a finance specialism, in particular, who has experience and understanding of property and/or investment management.
This is an exciting time to join the board to provide governance and leadership for the Trust during a transformative period. This began with our reopening for the 2025 season in February with the first instalment of a museum-wide renewal and interpretation project. The extensive collection of late 19th and early 20th century cultural items from East Africa, and religious artefacts from Ethiopia, have been presented to focus on the people and communities which created and used the objects. Until recent years, the galleries included object captions and text panels which reflected the interests, experiences, knowledge and perspectives of the Museum’s founder, Victorian explorer and hunter, Percy Powell-Cotton (1866-1940). Now, the galleries have been completely revitalised with fresh interpretation bringing to the fore the objects themselves, their significance, the stories of their original owners and the communities to which they belonged.
The revitalised displays are the first results of a long-term collaboration between the Trust and its newly formed Community Advisory Group, aiming to bring accuracy and sensitivity to the presentation of the collections, lives, cultures and beliefs of people in communities whose histories and traditions are centuries old.
Next year marks the centenary of the establishment of the Powell-Cotton Trust. While the history of the Museum opening to the public dates back earlier than this, the Trust wish to mark this occasion; it is an opportunity to reflect on the past, to learn from the collection and our communities, to embed good practice and sector leadership that enable us to secure the success of the next 100+ years of the Trust.

- Financial Sustainability & Governance; we are on the cusp of receiving a significant inheritance that assures our financial future. That said, we recognise that we can’t solely rely on this and must engage in actively growing our income from both fundraising and commercially based activities;
- Collection Sustainability & Estate Infrastructure; we must continue to build on the hard work we have already started both in preserving the collection as well as developing the gardens. There needs to be a long-term plan and investment in both, with significant new developments of a Collection, Learning and Research facility;
- Impact and Inclusion; we must continue to develop how we engage our audiences to ensure that we are relevant, available and inclusive to all, raising awareness of the Trust’s existence, and evaluating the impact we have on our visitors. We must utilise technology to the fullest extent to make us accessible locally, nationally and internationally.

The Role
The People and Culture (P&C) Committee is responsible to the Board of Trustees for oversight of the People and Culture Strategy and its effective implementation, including the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion agenda. The scope of the P&C Committee includes HQ volunteers as well as the staff workforce. It sets and reviews the salary of executive management; oversees the annual cost of living review, is focused on developing the right working culture for the organisation and scrutinises and approves HR policies.
The role of an Independent Member is to provide the People and Culture Committee with advice, guidance and scrutiny to assist the Committee in making key decisions.
Main Responsibilities
Along with other members of the Committee:
- Review the People & Culture Strategy which supports the organisational strategy and recommend it to the Board
- Act as advisor to ensure Equity, Diversity and Inclusion considerations for staff and HQ volunteers underpin the objectives within the People & Culture strategy
- Conduct high level monitoring and oversight of the achievement of objectives within the People & Culture strategy
- Oversee the HR function to assure that we are legally compliant, effective and responsive to the needs of the organisation and its people
- Ensure that the culture of the organisation is appropriate to achieve its objectives and support its values
- Monitor HR key performance indicators to assure the Committee and the Board that the Scouts is a good employer
- Ensure that robust and suitable HR policies and procedures are in place, that ensure fairness, equality and best practice in the management of staff, including an effective Reward Policy to underpin the successful recruitment and retention of staff
- Recommend to the Board the annual staff pay award
- Ensure the effective recruitment of ELT members via the Chair of the Committee
- Approve remuneration for ELT (with the exception of the Chief Executive whose remuneration is determined by the Board)
- Ensure an effective performance management policy and appraisal process is in place for ELT
- Assure itself that staff/volunteer relationships are effective
- Oversee the wellbeing of our people, working in collaboration with the HQ Health, Safety and Welfare Committee.
The person
Candidates should:
- Have a strong track record of achievement, especially in the area of Reward and Recognition
- Have experience of contributing to, supporting and or/leading HR policy formulation and culture setting across a large organisation or movement
- Have experience of designing and managing pay, benefits and non-financial incentives to motivate people
- Have a breadth of vision and a grasp of governance issues alongside an eye for detail
- Have unquestioned integrity, effective communications skills and experience of high-level discussion
- Have an understanding and commitment to The Scout Association’s evolving strategic plan and vision
- Be able to digest and act upon large amounts of written material, and have the ability to consider and constructively challenge the performance, strategy and objectives of The Scout Association
- Have experience of the Scout Movement and, ideally, the role of HQ volunteers
- Have experience of working at, or volunteering with, a charitable organisation
Time Commitment
For this role, the appointed candidate should expect to spend the equivalent of a day per quarter on The Scout Association’s work after the induction phase. This is based on preparation for and attendance at the scheduled People and Culture Committee meetings (three in each year, generally two meetings online and one face to face in London)
Appointment term
Appointments are typically for an initial three-year term, with the possibility of a further term of three years subject to a satisfactory appraisal.
Remuneration and expenses
In common with other registered charities, there is no remuneration directly associated with the role, although the Association will reimburse fully for all reasonable and properly documented expenses incurred in performing duties in accordance with the Association’s Expenses Policy.
Safeguarding rules – Yellow Card
We are a youth organisation who takes safeguarding seriously. The post holder agrees to comply at all times with the safeguarding rules as set out on TSA’s yellow card. We are seeking somebody in the Shrewsbury area or nearby with specialism in drama or performance studies to direct a new musical, The Group. This musical is all about disability and the lives of people with disability in a support group. They would need to be available Sunday afternoons 3:00pm and be able to travel to the Sundorne area of Shrewsbury.
We particularly hope to recruit somebody who is familiar with and sympathetic towards people with autism and other disabilities, who can share our vision and support all our service users to work towards being the best that they can be. This post would also be useful for somebody stuyding a performance related course wanting to gain experience of working on a production, or somebody seeking experience of working with people with Autism or disabilities.
Rehearsals will initially take place once per week in an evening at our centre at the Impact Studios, Sundorne. However, this may need to increase nearer the final performance according to availability. They would need to be able to familiarise themselves with and gain an understanding of the content of the musical, and be able to adapt this to the needs and capabilities of our cast and ensemble as necessary.

The role
The role of the Independent member is to provide the Safety Committee and the Movement with knowledge and experience for making key decisions. The role is pro bono, but reasonable expense will be paid in accordance with The Scout Association (TSA)’s Expenses Policy.
The Safety Committee reports directly to the Board of Trustees which has overall legal responsibility for TSA. The committee is Chaired by an external appointee who is a Trustee of the board. The safety committee comprises independent members with Health & Safety expertise across a range of sectors and members from the movement. The purpose of the committee is to hold to account those with responsibility for delivery of Health & Safety across Scouting.
Main responsibilities
The remit of the Committee is to support the Board of Trustees to fulfil its responsibilities in relation to Safety by:
- providing vision and direction for consideration and endorsement by the Board (as required), by identifying and contributing to the development of safety policies, procedures and guidance;
- ensuring that youth members, adult volunteers, parents and staff are engaged in contributing to the development of safety policies;
- developing and overseeing a performance framework to ensure that safety policies, procedures and practice are monitored to provide assurance to the Board (relating to members, staff and service users) and use this management information to inform and drive improvements; monitoring the local and national implementation of safety policies and procedures to ensure practice is effective and consistently applied;
- ensuring that appropriate connections are made with other areas of the Association’s work that may have an impact on safety (for example Adult Training by using incident data to highlight areas of success or concern);
- ensuring that members receive appropriate support and communication to aid understanding of their responsibilities to enable Safe Scouting;
- leading the process for Fatal Accident and/or Near Miss inquiries from commissioning through to completion;
- reviewing and overseeing actions from inquiry reports (this should be in conjunction with the respective staff functions, particularly where there is specific policy, procedure and/or practice changes that need to be recommended for consideration by the Strategy and Delivery Committee and/or Board (as required);
- identifying possible areas of development for the Association’s safety activities, taking into account relevant national agendas and learning from reviews whether this be external or internal to the Association.
The person
Past or present membership of The Scout Association would be an advantage but is not an essential requirement.

Time Commitment
For this role, the appointed candidate should expect to spend the equivalent of a day per quarter on The Scout Association’s work after the induction phase. Our Branch is seeking a new Treasurer for our Committee. We would love to hear from a finance professional with a passion for animal welfare!
About us:
RSPCA Lincolnshire Mid, NE & Lincoln Branch rehabilitates and re-homes animals rescued by the RSPCA's national Inspectors. We also promote responsible pet ownership and hold animal action days such as for microchipping.
We currently run three charity shops and regular fundraising events, to rehabilitate more than 100 animals each year, and help them find their forever home.
Our Branch is extremely passionate with twelve Trustees currently forming the Committee.
We have a very strong financial position, with excellent controls, having had the support of a dedicated Treasurer for over 10 years. We are now looking for her successor and would love to hear from you!
What is involved?
As a Trustee of an RSPCA Branch you will have the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals.
Our Treasurer acts as principal financial trustee maintaining and administering the accounts of the branch.
What you can bring to our board:
You will have a professional finance qualification or be working towards one, such as CIMA or ACCA. You will ideally have charity finance experience, such as an understanding of gift aid, charity commission reporting requirements and restricted funds.
You will have experience of using finance software, with Xero experience being particularly desirable as it is our current software. You will also be familiar with how HMRC rules work, i.e., PAYE, Employer’s National Insurance and charity rules in respect of VAT.
Our Treasurer is a key role, with responsibilities to:

implement and maintain sound financial systems in order to retain full control of branch funds.

take a lead role in ensuring the committee set annual financial budgets and forward plan the branch income and expenditure so that the accounts balance in the long term.

provide a written financial report for every branch meeting showing the branch’s income and expenditure since the last meeting.

liaise with auditors/independent examiner regarding the production of the annual branch accounts and treasurer’s report for the AGM, including SORP statement.

maintain control of all bank accounts as authorised by the committee.

execute and operate branch committee financial decisions and act as branch co-signatory on all branch cheques, if required.

make quarterly VAT returns via the Branch’s Xero accounting system.
Working with our Branch Manager, the Treasurer will also:

maintain control over all branch debit/credit cards, paying-in books and receipt books and to ensure their correct use.

ensure correct responsibility for the branch network of collection boxes.

arrange payment of the annual branch contribution to the appropriate RSPCA fund.

coordinate financial control of all branch fundraising activities.

Additionally, in conjunction with your fellow trustees, our Treasurer will:

You will ideally live and/or work in our branch area in Lincolnshire, UK, to bring local insight to our branch decisions. Our branch covers the city of Lincoln, out to Mablethorpe, Woodhall Spa and Gainsborough, and all the way up to Grimsby.

About the role
The Island Lead Volunteer is a key volunteer role within local Scouting with responsibility for providing outstanding leadership and support for the Groups on the Island. The primary focus for the Island Lead Volunteer is to ensure that Scouting is able to reach every young person on Jersey; open to all regardless of faith, colour or social background, because we believe Scouting has the ability to change lives. This is achieved by leading the team of Group Lead Volunteers, and other Island volunteers as well as working with the Growth & Communities Teams (employed staff) to provide enough places to meet the demand for Scouting, and by ensuring that every youth member has access to a high-quality balanced programme that is challenging, relevant and rewarding.
Key tasks
- Ensure that every Squirrel Drey, Beaver Scout Colony, Cub Scout Pack, Scout Troop, Explorer Scout Unit and Scout Network within the Island is able to deliver a high-quality programme which is challenging, relevant and rewarding for every young person.
- Provide proactive line management, including coaching, mentoring and guidance to Group Lead Volunteers as well as other adult volunteers on the Island who directly report to you including setting objectives for their work, holding regular one-to-one meetings and reviews.
