Job description

As the Head of Safeguarding, you will:

  • Lead on the development, delivery and embedding of a robust safeguarding culture so that those who encounter our services are protected from harm
  • Provide strategic expert advice and direction around protection of vulnerable adults, adults at risk and children
  • Ensure consistent decision making, chairing of the serious safeguarding panels, and leading on the reporting of incidents internally, externally and to regulators as required
  • Represent RVS on external safeguarding meetings and panels
  • Continue to deliver high quality safeguarding and wellbeing support services to volunteers and clients in partnership with other local providers helping manage their risk

Some of your role will cover: 

  • Managing the Safeguarding Leads and Safeguarding team, currently a mix of internal and external resource
  • Leading on training and development of Trustees and Senior Managers, employees and volunteers regarding their responsibilities around safeguarding
  • Developing strong links with the wider third sector safeguarding networks
  • Conduct service reviews and provide robust reporting to Leadership Team and Trustees
  • Working closely with our Leadership Team as the subject matter expert on all safeguarding related matters

About you 

To join us as our Head of Safeguarding, you will need: 

- Proven experience in a Head of Safeguarding role or similar in a charitable organisation
- Comprehensive knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, best practice guidance and policy procedure across England, Wales and Scotland.
- To be a degree holder and/or hold relevant safeguarding qualifications

-Operational and management experience in the complex world of safeguarding, with an ability to challenge, build and manage strong and effective relationships.

-Excellent problem solving, negotiating and interpersonal skills
