Branch Volunteer Leader Jobs

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Area Branch Development Manager to join our field operations team. You will join us working 35 hours per week (including some occasional evenings and weekends to support out volunteers) on a permanent basis. In return you will receive a competitive salary of up to £41,363 per annum, plus car allowance and excellent benefits.

The role will be home-based and the successful candidate will need to based in the lower quadrant of the North West region (the area below Preston and East Lancashire would be advantageous), due to current developments in the Manchester and surrounding area, with a flexible work structure to meet the needs of branches in the area.

Since 1927, Cats Protection has helped thousands of cats each year, across the UK. As a community of volunteers, employees, supporters and partners, we’ve improved the lives of millions of cats and transformed the way millions of people see and care for cats.

Our branch network is made up of groups of volunteers, led by a Branch Team Leader and overseen by a branch committee. Usually volunteering from their own homes, our branch volunteers foster cats until they are ready to re-home, raise funds to directly help the cats in their care, spread vital cat welfare messages across to members of the public, carry out trap-neuter-return activity, and much more!

Responsibilities of our Area Branch Development Manager:

As an Area Branch Development Manager you will be accountable for the development, growth and local governance of branches within a designated area. Providing a solution-driven approach with the aim of helping more cats through the effective engagement of local volunteers. You will develop and deliver an area plan that captures the importance of volunteer engagement, recruitment, support, enabling and succession planning to ultimately achieve branch growth and sustainability. You will work collaboratively with other CP regional teams where appropriate, identifying where there are opportunities to achieve more by working together.

What we’re looking for in our Area Branch Development Manager:

• Proven management experience including drafting business and operational plans
• Proven experience of leading and managing volunteers
• Experience of planning and implementing new processes and systems across a multi-site organisation
• Proficient IT skills, including all aspects of Microsoft Office relevant packages and knowledge of database management
• Personal and professional manner and credibility that generate trust and confidence in others
• Knowledge of the animal welfare sector
• Hold a valid UK driving licence and access to you own vehicle to use for business travel

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join us as a Regional Volunteer Team Leader, based from home, located within easy reach of Oldham, Manchester with some time spent at a centre and travel across the region. 

You will join us working 35 hours per week on a permanent basis. Some occasional weekends may be required. In return, as our Regional Volunteer Team Leader you will receive a competitive salary of up to £30,058 per annum plus excellent benefits.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity with a nationwide network of adoption and homing centres, volunteer-run branches and charity shops. During 2021, we helped 137,000 cats and kittens. That's the equivalent of around 375 cats a day!

Our adoption and homing centres care for thousands of cats each year until they are able to find a loving new home. This success would not be possible without our dedicated team of employees and volunteers. Dealing with thousands of visitors each month, our centres are the face of Cats Protection and we pride ourselves on our employees providing the very best in animal welfare and customer service.

Responsibilities of our Regional Volunteer Team leader:

The main purpose of this role is to provide high level volunteer management within a designated geographical area. The post holder will recruit, induct, train and provide ongoing support to teams of diverse volunteers to enhance the effective running of activities and ensure they are carried out in line with best practice. These activities could take place within our centres, branches, regionally, and/or within a project.

Roma Outreach Worker (Full-time, 12-month fixed term contract)

37.5 Hours per week

This role will require the person to work early mornings and late nights in order to conduct outreach shifts in the Borough.

UK Driving Licence and Romani or Romanian language skills are essential.

The Role

The purpose of the Roma Outreach Worker role is to deliver an effective service to single people who are currently rough sleeping. This post will actively support Roma clients, providing a continued and consistent point of contact whilst assisting them in navigating the various change pathways available to them.

Are you passionate about utilising your language skills to assist in ending rough sleeping? Our organisation takes a proactive stance in supporting individuals away from rough sleeping, aiming for permanent transitions from rough sleeping.

We are seeking a dynamic and self-driven individual with language proficiency in Romanian or Romany to join our Kingston Outreach Team as a Roma Outreach Worker. In this pivotal role, you will engage in street outreach shifts, assess needs, and deliver personalised case management. It is the beginning of assisting clients on their journey from homelessness to independence.

To be considered for the role of Roma Outreach Worker, you will have:

- Able to speak Romani or Romanian fluently or to a high level.
- Full and clean UK driving licence.
- Good understanding of the Roma communities.
- Experience of working within the homelessness or social care sector.
- Have a creative, solution-focused approach to overcoming challenges.
- Knowledge of GDPR and data management.
- Knowledge of current drug and alcohol provision and relevant services, pathways and conditions.
- Emotional resilience to deal with challenging behaviour and to facilitate ongoing constructive engagement.
- Solid IT skills with the ability to record sound and accurate records in a timely fashion on IT applications such as CHAIN and Inform.
- A commitment to learning and continuous improvement.
- Experience of support planning and risk assessing clients with complex needs, including safeguarding knowledge.
- Able to develop positive and professional working relationships with clients to facilitate the best possible outcomes and address issues of social isolation and exclusion.
- Experience in conducting client assessments and interviews and outcome monitoring.

Bonny Downs Community Association has been working together to change lives and transform our community since 1998. Over the past 25 years our team has grown to provide a wide array of services that benefit Newham residents from all walks of life. 

This role is specifically funded through the Youth Endowment fund as a pilot project ‘Thriving Communities’. You will be required to work alongside Thriving Communities commissioners, as well as the project’s Youth Justice Worker’s, Educational Psychologist, and/or professionals assigned to individual young people’s cases- such as teachers, social workers and mentors. The Thriving Communities project is a small part of a wider collaborative project, EMPOWER YOUTH, delivered by two partner charities so, although this position is based at BDCA, you will be working closely with a second East Ham Youth Partnership Project lead and team of Sessional Assistants based at nearby charity The Renewal Programme (TRP). Staff from each organisation will work together to deliver the programme and cross-refer young people to activities led by both teams. You will also be required to work with BDCA’s own Children & Families team during the summer scheme and liaise with our marketing team all year round. External partner agencies that you will work directly with include Thriving Communities panel, Newham Youth Empowerment Service, Newham Community Engagement Team, local sports clubs and schools.
