What will I be doing?
- Curating strategic relationships across our membership, academia, business, government, intermediaries and funders.
- Delivering roundtables, road mapping sessions, surveys and consultations to gather evidence and build better insights on physics R&D, skills, facilities and business support
- Producing compelling reports that enable the IOP to advocate for and support physics innovation and R&D, champion diversity in research and innovation, and celebrate physics
Projects you work on may include:
- High profile, impact projects to stimulate tangible change on behalf of our members and the physics community – influencing national science and technology strategies and investment for new physics-powered industries
- Corporate partnerships to advocate for the health of the discipline and its application in traditional and emerging economic sectors
- And through initiatives like our accelerator space we will provide direct support to growth in physics-powered businesses
Who will I work with?
- You will work closely with the Head of Science and Innovation and department colleagues, and will regularly consult the IOP Executive, wider leadership team, members and community stakeholders
- You will directly line manage one officer and manage collaborative teams comprising staff from across the organisation as well as members, partners, secondees and interns
- You will maintain IOP reputation and relationships with senior and influential stakeholders in academia, business, public research bodies, funders and government

JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
The Individual Giving Manager (Retention) will work within the Public Fundraising Team and play a key part in growing and sustaining income from our individual giving audiences of cash donors and regular giving supporters. You will work closely with the Deputy Director of Fundraising, Individual Giving Manager (Acquisition), Supporter Care Officer and Database Manager and will be responsible for the development, project management and delivery of the supporter retention, renewal and stewardship program. Role Responsibilities:
This role plays a key part in driving income growth and sustainability in our Individual Giving programme.
Your priorities will include:
· Driving the strategic and operational planning of Individual Giving to deliver strong income growth and return of investment (ROI), ensuring agreed targets and KPIs are achieved in relation to retention and conversion of existing donors.
· Devising and delivering the overall Individual Giving retention and stewardship budget to maximise opportunities for growth, preparing robust annual income and expenditure budgets and operational plans.
Strategy, planning and delivery:
· Develop and manage donor retention and upgrade for cash donors and regular givers across all channels to increase our supporter base, maximising ROI.
· Devise and deliver the overall Individual Giving retention and stewardship budget to maximise opportunities for growth, preparing robust annual income and expenditure budgets and ops plans, reforecasting these on a quarterly basis and engaging with month end processes.
· Lead the delivery of an impactful stewardship programme, which includes managing the supporter newsletter to optimise donor retention and development across all supporters, delivering exceptional donor experience; oversee timely responses to donors.
· Optimise data and data capture opportunities to help us better understand our supporters, inform strategy and ultimately deliver insight to help drive retention and lifetime value.
· Provide timely high-quality reporting with robust analysis and recommendations to improve performance – utilising your Individual Giving expertise and sector benchmarks.
· Adopt a test and learn mentality to strategic planning, developing new activities to provide the charity with a balanced portfolio of offers for new/existing donors.
· Direct and manage external suppliers to execute the Individual Giving retention programme to meet agreed budgets, timelines and KPIs.

· Work with the Database Manager and Supporter Care Officer to ensure all donations are processed swiftly and accurately, Gift Aid income is maximised, and all declarations are collected and accurately recorded for submission to the Finance team.

The Middlesbrough Programme on Gendered Poverty is an exciting collaborative programme bringing together Buttle UK, the Smallwood Trust and Turn2us to test whether a co-produced & collaborative approach to grant-making can transform the lives of women and their children.

The Philanthropy Team raises income for Impetus and for Impetus partner charities. The team consists of 13 staff. Impetus has an annual income of c.£8-9 million which we are looking to grow significantly within the next few years. The team is led by the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships.

We are seeking a maternity cover Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager – someone who is a talented and ambitious fundraiser who will join the Impetus Philanthropy Team and have responsibility for building new partnerships and stewarding existing ones.

Your Role:
As Programme Development Manager, your role will be to oversee the development and writing of high quality, bespoke pitch decks, concept notes, and proposals for business and philanthropic partners. As Research Communications Lead, you will use your knowledge of the medical research field and science communication experience and expertise to create a suite of research impact communications and stories.
In addition, you will build the base for the charity to confidently talk and communicate the difference that our funded research makes to the lives of people affected by sight loss. These stories should substantiate our position as leaders in funding ground-breaking and world-class research and be used in any instance where we need to demonstrate our research impact, from fundraising materials to our brand marketing.

Strategic Research Communications
· Support the Head of Communications and External Affairs and Research Grants team, to develop and deliver a Communications Strategy that amplifies our reach and demonstrates our impact

The Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager is a pivotal role working with the Head of Corporate Partnerships to grow the corporate partnerships programme across our three hospitals, Guy's & St Thomas', Guy's Cancer and Evelina London Children's Hospital.
Strong emphasis will be on building and cultivating long-term high value strategic partnerships and fostering effective and productive relationships with a range of key stakeholders. You will play an active leadership role within the corporate partnerships team through supporting and coaching the Corporate Managers and Officer to support their new business approaches.
You will bring a proven track record in developing significant (6 and 7 figures) corporate partnerships from scratch within the Charity or Commercial sectors, along with significant experience of developing and delivering exceptional pitches and written proposals to corporate prospects. You will have experience of presenting to and influencing key stakeholders at all levels. Experience of working in the charity sector is desirable.

We are looking for a collaborative and engaging lead to work in our Business and Investor Engagement (B&IE) team to grow and build relationships with the UK food sector. This role will oversee the charity’s engagement with the business community, with a particular focus on the Out of Home and manufacturing sectors. This involves having strategic oversight of and managing relationships with businesses across the UK food system and positioning ourselves as insight-led critical friends.
The B&IE team engages major food businesses on actions they can take to shift the UK towards more healthy and sustainable diets in order to tackle food system issues such as climate change, nature loss, diet related disease and dietary inequalities. We provide insight and analysis underpinned by our Plating Up Progress benchmark to support and hold businesses to account in increasing sales of healthier and more sustainable foods and in shifting towards more responsible business practices.
The business engagement lead will work closely with the Senior Business and Investor engagement manager to build and develop relationships with the Out of Home and manufacturing sectors, oversee the Food Foundation’s role in an exciting new partnership with a major broadcaster in support of more plant rich diets, oversee the delivery of our flagship report – The State of the Nation’s Food Industry (SOFI) - and collaborate with civil society partners also working in this space. Previous line management experience is desirable but not essential.
This role would be well suited to a registered nutritionist or sustainable food systems expert with experience of working in or with industry and looking to make the move into the charity sector.
