It’s an exciting time to join The National Lottery Community Fund as the Environmental Officer on a part time basis, 25 hours a week.
The National Lottery Community Fund is delivering an environmental strategy that will not only help communities we Fund but also identifies us as an exemplar in managing our own environmental impact.
The role will help lead our journey to net zero emissions by 2030, as well as support our environmental strategy both internally and externally. An interest in climate change and an understanding of environmental sustainability in the workplace will be a key part to this role as well as the confidence to bring in new ideas.
The role will sit within the Facilities team which helps support all nine of the Funds offices which are based in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
The environmental officer role will be varied but some of the key responsibilities are:
- You will be responsible for facilitating the Fund’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact and move towards being a net zero organisation by 2030. You will lead best practice around environmental sustainability across sites and engage staff to consider their own impact.
- You will draw learning and resources from external sources, to develop an array of approaches, with a view to getting all staff to consider the resources they use, irrespective of their motivation.
- You will support the Fund’s established Climate action network, ensuring that they all feel connected to and can contribute to energy and resource savings projects/initiatives/themes.
- You will ensure projects are well planned and progressed and will collate and share environmental measures to demonstrate achievements.
- You will help with environmental data capture and carbon accounting and reporting on any trends both internally and externally.
- You will also provide relevant updates to SMT and work closely with the SMT lead on environmental sustainability, highlighting any issues requiring resolution.
- The role will mainly be based in one office, but you’ll be required to engage across the Fund and develop communications that will reach all staff.
- You may be drawn into any project/team to advise on environmental sustainability.
- You will engage as the sustainable business partner with internal and external stakeholders and will support the communication of strong external messages declaring our dedication to working sustainably.
The ideal candidate for this role should have:

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Sustrans Behaviour Change and Engagement Team as it looks to encourage those in Harlow and the surrounding area to walk, wheel, and cycle.
As an Active Travel Project Officer in Harlow and Gilston Town (HGGT), you will assist in the delivery of the behaviour change programme to schools, workplaces and community groups. The project will encourage and enable the community to travel sustainably and actively, through various initiatives, events and competitions.
Your role will include duties such as the creation of materials and communications to increase the visibility of your work, delivering activities and events with a variety of people, reporting and presenting to stakeholders, and analysing surveys and other monitoring data.

This role is responsible for providing high-level support, managing complex projects and engaging with a wide variety of people on behalf of the Chief Network Officer. This role acts as a key point of communication with internal/external contacts, coordinates cross-organisational processes and projects, and manages the office, including liaising closely with senior members of the Operations and Network Programmes directorates.
Role responsibilities
· Managing and supporting a regular cycle of team and project meetings and events, including preparing project plans, management reports, ensuring the completion of actions, and supporting the strategy planning cycle.
· Liaising with key external contacts (food banks, partner organisations etc) on behalf of the Chief Network Officer, including maintaining regular correspondence, managing diary requests, and organising events and business travel.
· Conserving the Chief Network Officer’s time by reading, researching and routing correspondence, drafting letters and documents, collecting and analysing information and initiating communications.
· Acting as a project manager / stakeholder on behalf of the Chief Network Officer to ensure outcomes are achieved and information is communicated.
· Creating supporting materials for presentations, talks, conferences and planning meetings, including sourcing and preparing collateral, and formatting presentation slides etc.
· Curating and updating relevant information systems on behalf of the Chief Network Officer, including HR systems, finance systems, impact / performance systems and file storage.

This role is an opportunity for a Paralegal to join a large in-house legal team and work on a broad range of matters. It will specifically involve supporting the Agreements, Information and Disputes (AID) team within legal services, consisting of five lawyers.
The successful candidate will be required to work across areas of law including but not limited to information law, contracts, intellectual property, procurement, subsidy and state aid, insolvency, recoveries and public law. In addition to providing research, drafting and general support to the Fund’s lawyers, it is expected that the Paralegal will handle matters under supervision and use legal knowledge to improve the Fund’s internal processes and precedents.
The bulk of the Paralegal’s workload will consist of legal support work however the candidate will also be expected to perform some administrative tasks and cover for the team’s administrative officer when required.
Experience working in a fast paced in-house or private practice environment would be ideal with legal research and IT literacy an advantage. Knowledge of insolvency and debt recovery would be desirable.
