Job description

The Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager – Live Independently & Well helps people with sight loss to live the life they choose by managing political engagement and campaigns work. The role is responsible for developing strong relationships with key political opinion formers, Ministers, Secretary of States, select committees and relevant decision-makers in Westminster and Whitehall to promote Guide Dogs policy and Campaigns. Working with the Senior Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager in their team, the role holder manages the development and delivery of current and new campaigns. The role will also manage the activities or our campaigners – both e-campaigners and campaigns volunteers to ensure they are taking meaningful actions that further Guide Dogs’ campaigns.

This role is 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, with 26 days paid holiday (excluding bank holidays) a year. As a charity, we’re always keen to support flexible working as best we can. Candidate requirements

To be able to fulfil this role, the skills and experience we are looking for in a potential candidate include;

Essential

  • Significant and in-depth experience of achieving impact in public affairs or campaigns when targeting national government.
  • Demonstrable experience managing campaigns or communications at a national level.
  • Significant experience of crafting policy positions that can be used for public affairs or campaigns work.
  • Proven experience participating in or running complex partnership groups.

Desirable

  • Experience of working for a charity in a similar role, or working for an MP in their Westminster office.
  • While experience in one of the disciplines of policy, public affairs or campaigns is essential, experience in all three is desirable.
  • Use of online and social media to further campaigns.
