Solace Women’s Aid (Solace) is an innovative, exciting, grassroots charity working across London. Our purpose is to bring to an end the harm done through domestic and sexual violence to all survivors, particularly women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse. 

You will be joining a team of committed and inspiring individuals whose dedication has saved the lives of thousands of women, men, and children in the Capital. We are looking for friendly and diligent individuals to join our services and help us make a difference. 

This is role is to lead our policy and public affairs work within the influencing and collaboration part of the Business Development Team.  The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will play an integral role in growing Solace’s influence with policy and decision makers both nationally and locally in support of our mission to end the harm done through gender-based violence. The successful candidate will seek to ensure that the voices of the nearly 30,000 women and children we support are heard, as one of the leading Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) providers of specialist services in London.

About the role 

We are seeking an experienced policy and public affairs professional used to working at pace and alongside colleagues to develop policy positions and engage with stakeholders to achieve change. 

Reporting to the Head of Partnerships and Public Affairs and working closely with colleagues in communications and services, the successful candidate will:  

  • Develop policy positions and robust evidence related to our priorities around tackling VAWG.
  • Identify key stakeholders for Solace, and build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in London and Westminster to support our influencing work.
  • Work with service users, frontline teams and senior leaderships team to identify key policy priorities for Solace’s work and respond to Government agenda through consultations and other reactive work.
  • Represent Solace as a press spokesperson and in key influencing forums to put forward our key policy positions and ensure that survivors voices are represented.
