As an organisation we provide expert advice and information for carers, campaign for greater recognition and support for carers, and use our experience and expertise to help other organisations do more for carers. Our Board of Trustees plays a vital leadership role in the work we do while ensuring the charity is equipped and governed effectively, establishing and monitoring strategy and ensuring we are true to our values and keep carers at the heart of everything we do.

We are now seeking to appoint up to four people to join our Board of Trustees, to steer us towards our vision of a world where carers are recognised, valued and supported.

We are also seeking to appoint a Nations Trustees for Scotland. In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, the Nations Trustee will be expected to ensure that the Carers UK Board is informed on key issues affecting carers in their Nation.

We are looking for Community Befriender Volunteers who can give a small amount of time to help carers reconnect with their community and build confidence again.

As a Community Befriender, you will meet adult carers aged 25 and over, get to know what interests them, and support them to attend local groups, classes, or social opportunities. Carers Trust Solihull is looking for a First Point of Contact Admin Volunteer who enjoys helping people and keeping things organised. You will welcome new carers, handle enquiries, and make sure every person who joins our service gets a smooth and supportive start.

What you will do
• Record new carer registrations using our simple database.
• Prepare and post welcome packs, including carer ID cards.
• Complete the short 5-question contingency plan with each new carer.
• Answer incoming calls and direct them to the right team.
• Respond to enquiries in a calm and professional way.
• Log actions and update records so carers receive accurate support.
• Signpost carers to Solihull Council services when needed.
• Follow confidentiality, safeguarding, and data protection procedures.

Help young carers enjoy safe, fun, worry-free breaks from their caring role.

You support children and young people aged 5 to 25 during trips, club sessions, workshops, and holiday activities. You help them meet others, grow in confidence, and enjoy time for themselves. The role involves travel across Solihull so you can attend events and activities when needed.

As a volunteer, you will meet a wide variety of people with unique backgrounds and personal stories to share. You will discover new talents and skills you didn’t even know you had. Most importantly, you will build lasting connections and make new friends who share your passion for helping others!

Volunteers help in many ways, from making drinks and providing much-needed one-to-one attention for clients, to supporting outings, maintaining our building, assisting carer groups, and running fundraising events or campaigns. Each volunteer’s contribution plays a crucial role in supporting our work.

You will join the Headway Black Country team and work alongside dedicated individuals who make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

We prefer volunteers to commit for at least six months, with a minimum of one half-day per week. This ensures you can make a meaningful and lasting impact while fitting the role into your schedule.

Chatterbox Befrienders offer one-to-one telephone support and will call a client once a week offering companionship and a listening ear for an individual who might otherwise go unheard. Chatterbox volunteers befriend a variety of people including carers, socially isolated individuals who are struggling with loneliness, people with ill health and those that 
have been bereaved.

REQUIREMENTS OF A BEFRIENDER INCLUDE:

- Calling your client once a week for a chat of up to 45 minutes; this is a 26 week initial commitment, at the end of which each client’s needs are reviewed

- Completing an online call log record promptly after each phone call

- Ensuring immediate contact with the Chatterbox Coordinators if you feel that the client might be a risk to themselves or others

- Liaising with the Chatterbox Coordinator on a regular basis regarding the service, as well as discussing personal learning and development needs

- Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the range of policies and procedures that impact on befriending vulnerable adults

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role. If you have a criminal record this does not automatically prevent you from being considered as an Omega Chatterbox Befriender. We will take into account the nature of the offence, when it happened and whether it is relevant to the voluntary role. If you are shortlisted, this will be discussed with you during the recruitment process.

We are a small and friendly team of Trustees who are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us and become a Trustee for our wonderful charity, Wiltshire Portage. Wiltshire Portage supports families who have children aged birth to school entry with additional needs, empowering parents and carers to help their children to reach their full potential as they transition into school and beyond.

There has been a rise in the number of children who have additional needs over the past few years and research has shown that early intervention is vital in helping these children to develop. At Wiltshire Portage, we have a team of experienced Home Visitors who regularly visit families who have young children with additional needs. During visits, Home Visitors identify areas of support that are needed and deliver child-led learning activities through play. Having a child with additional needs can be challenging and Home Visitors are also able to support parents and carers; providing information and sign posting them to organisations who can help.

As a charity, Wiltshire Portage relies on a team of Trustees to work with the CEO in the running of the charity. Trustees are asked to attend a meeting (this is currently carried out virtually) once every two months in the evening.

Trustees play a key role in providing strategic direction, oversight, and support to ensure that the PDA Society continues to grow sustainably and deliver real impact for the community we serve.

Following the retirement of two Trustees we’re keen to broaden the range of skills and experiences represented. Our work is guided by people with lived experience, and our Board of Trustees plays a central role in shaping our strategy and ensuring that our values are embedded across everything we do.

Appointments are made on merit, and we are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive Board that truly reflects the communities we serve.
