So, if you have experience and commitment to collaborative working, nurturing the voices and perspectives of all, social justice and the value of the arts, we could well be looking for you.
The key areas the Chair is responsible for are:
- Leading the Board, stakeholder management and organisational governance. Including:
- Setting the Board agenda, ensuring legal and financial governance duties are met effectively.
- Effective operation of the Board in all its areas and responsibilities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships including existing and potential funders.
- Represent the organisation at outside events

- Commitment to trustee duties & openness with the charity's team & Trustees.
- Ability to work in a team, accept decisions & be tolerant of other views.
- Commitment to being informed about - and act as a champion for - the charity.
- Ability to treat sensitive information confidentially.

About Share
Share is a charity based in Wandsworth and Lambeth, working with adults with learning disabilities and autism.
The story of Share began in 1972, when a group of disabled people came together as a self-help group to improve employment and training opportunities for disabled people. Over the years, Share has grown and evolved, responding to changing needs and opportunities.
Share appointed a new Chief Executive in 2022, and the Charity is in the second year of a three-year strategy. Delivery of our strategy will help Share achieve its mission of providing a safe, empowering and progressive experience where disabled adults can develop their skills, wellbeing and purpose to enable them to live happier, healthier and more independent lives.
Share principally supports people from south west London, with the majority of students coming from Wandsworth and Lambeth. Share currently operates from four sites and supports more than 160 students each week across our range of programmes which focus on personal development, independent living skills, and employability.
Share’s vision is to live in a world where disabled adults are genuinely valued and included, can make choices and have the freedom to fulfil their ambitions. Share is inclusive, supportive and ambitious and works with kindness, integrity and respect.

Thank you for wanting to find out more about becoming a member of Age UK Lambeth’s Board.
Our Board members are unpaid volunteers called trustees. They fill an essential role in ensuring our charity improves the lives of older and vulnerable people around the borough of Lambeth. We hope that this pack lets you know more about the charity, the role of a trustee and how to apply to become one.
We currently have seven Board members with space for up to five more. We want to find people who have a desire to direct services that enable lives to be changed for the better. We want to increase the diversity of the Board bringing different life experiences which match the Lambeth community, broad and diverse as it is. Ideally we want people that bring new skills and experience or enhance those already in place, but this is not essential. It’s not necessary to have previous Board experience.
Please check the Recruitment Pack attached.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Birthrights was founded in 2013 with the understanding that at the heart of the poor experiences and outcomes of maternity care for so many, is a consistent failure to listen to the voices of women and birthing people and a complete disregard for their fundamental human rights. Our work has never been more urgent.
Are you excited by Birthrights’ ambitions to work towards long term, systemic change that empowers women and birthing people? This is an exciting time to join our organisation as we embark on a new 10-year strategy.
As our Chair you will work with a dynamic and passionate team of Trustees and Employees who champion the rights of women and birthing people. Come and join our small and caring team of change makers.
Our Board of Trustees meets quarterly, mostly virtually but we like to meet 1-2 times in person either in London or the midlands (as this is nearest to where most are currently based). Our Chair plays a role in supporting and developing our work and Co-CEOs as well so will meet virtually with them between meetings. Papers are prepared in advance and shared electronically. The Board is supported by and Finance and Risk Committee. We expect the time commitment to be 1-2 days per month and the reward to feel huge!
If you have the expertise for this role come and join us to transform birthing experiences for the better.
We would love for you to apply for this role which you can do by visiting our website and downloading the Chair to the BOT recruitment pack for the full information about the role, the requirements, the person specification and more. The details of how to apply for the role are also contained within this pack. You might also want to scroll down this page, to watch a short video showing you more about Birthrights’ work.
Deadline for applications:12:00pm (midday) on 22nd April 2024
Interviews: w/c 6th May 2024. Please let us know of any dates you are not able to make during this week, when you apply.

NNRF is seeking a new Chair to work in partnership with our members and trustee board to lead the organisation into its next phase of development. We are seeking someone with excellent leadership skills and governance experience, who is passionate about the needs of refugees and asylum seekers.
Established in 2000, we are an independent registered charity set up to work with and for refugees and asylum seekers in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Our Vision is a society where asylum seekers and refugees are welcomed, receive fair and compassionate treatment and the support to rebuild their lives.
NNRF currently employs 50 staff members and has a Trustee Board of 12 who ensure the charity runs according to its constitution and statutory obligations. Board meetings are held in person, bi-monthly. Most trustees also sit on one or more sub-committees reporting to the Board.
Key Duties and Responsibilities of the Chair of NNRF
The Chair along with the other board members has the primary function of holding the management team to account, ensuring they work effectively to promote the charity’s objectives.
To this end you will provide inclusive leadership, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. The Chair will also support the Director and ensure that the Board functions as a unit and works closely with the entire workforce, including volunteers, to achieve agreed objectives. You will act as an ambassador and the public face of the charity in partnership with the Director.
Six Board meetings are held per year. The Chair is supported by an active Board and is expected to have regular meetings with the vice chair, the treasurer, and the director. The chair may be called upon to represent the Charity at occasional events with key stakeholders. The Chair sits on the finance and human resource committees which meet monthly, and is supported by the treasurer, vice-chair and secretary to the Board.
Process of selection
All trustees are elected by our membership at the annual general meeting in November. The current board will nominate candidates for election following an interview with the Chair and Vice-chair. The nomination would require the prospective Chair to attend board meetings as a co-opted member prior to the AGM.
If elected as a board member, the new Chair will be mentored by the current Chair in the first few six months of the role. The Board will review the Chair’s appointment after six months.

Tonic is seeking a new Chair to provide inclusive and collaborative leadership to the Board of Trustees. The Chair will be key in helping deliver Tonic’s charitable objectives and optimising the skills and experience of the Board.
For over a decade Tonic has been at the forefront of driving change within the performing arts and wider arts and culture, supporting the sector to achieve greater equality, diversity and inclusion. Our mission is to ensure that the broadest range of people can have art and creativity in their lives, whether engaging as professionals, amateur participants, or audiences. We do this via our thriving programme of sector-wide projects, one-to-one support for arts organisations, training, events and the creation and publication of books and resources.
Founded in 2011, we have successfully developed from an aspirational one-person start-up to a robust, mature charity which has steadily grown its income and workforce. We are now at a stage where we can further professionalise the way in which we operate and govern the organisation, providing a sustainable business model for our planned growth. We are seeking a Chair who will be excited to have the opportunity to review how the organisation is run and promote good governance and best-practise in all aspects of Tonic’s operations.
