The Ian Karten Charitable Trust is looking for a home-based, self-employed administrator to cover the current incumbent who is going on maternity leave in July 2024.  The Trust is a grant making trust focused on disability and education.

The role is very flexible; hours required are generally between 8 and 16 per month. With the exception of two trustee meetings annually, which usually take place at mutually agreed times during office hours, most of the work can be carried out according to the postholder’s individual commitments and availability.

The administrator will report to the Chair of Trustees, and will be responsible for ensuring that the administrative processes necessary for the running of the Trust are smooth and efficient. This will include monitoring emails and communicating with grantees, processing payments, preparing and distributing papers for trustee meetings, taking minutes at trustee meetings and following up on agreed actions, and ensuring any necessary documentation is kept up to date. In this role you will lead and empower the Executive Team and organisation to deliver high quality services to ensure that patient voices are heard. The Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) is the national charity for people affected by cleft lip and palate in the United Kingdom.

CLAPA supports people affected by cleft to take control of their journey, connect with others, and use their voices to impact the future of care. Our vision is that no one affected by cleft lip and palate in the United Kingdom will go through their journey alone.

We are seeking a Fundraising Coordinator (Individual Giving) to join our small but dynamic Fundraising team.

The role requires excellent donor care and stewardship skills. All forms of communication will be required including the proactive use of digital channels such as the website and social media platforms.

The Individual Giving Fundraiser will play a vital role in increasing income from our existing supporters. You will support donor acquisition as well as taking the lead on retention of our supporters across multiple channels including cash appeals, regular giving, lottery and in celebration giving. The role will also support the Head of Income in the delivery of a legacy and major donor program.

You will develop and deliver excellent stewardship programmes that drive retention by deepening audience understanding of the challenges that people affected by cleft face and the impact that their donations make. Using data and insight, you’ll deliver compelling campaigns, with people affected by cleft right at the centre. You’ll use creative tools and techniques to demonstrate impact and inspire future action.

Specific Duties:

Strategic Planning and Development

Alongside the Board of Trustees and the Senior Management Team:

• Monitoring and updating the Business Plan
• Developing and implementing a financial strategy for the Business Plan
• Oversight and updating of organisational Theory of Change, ensuring KPIs for all programmes are in line with our vision and mission, and are achievable as well as ambitious
• Continued development and monitoring of the new Community Hub Programme in partnership with other local strategic partnerships
• Prioritising the articulation and communication of the Ark-T methodology and approaches to using the arts for improved wellbeing and mental health across our programmes and sharing best practice across the team
• Prioritising the reach and engagement of Ark-T programmes to a larger and more diverse audience representative of our surrounding communities
• Recruiting an increasingly diverse team of Trustees with the skills, contacts and time to contribute effectively to the running of the charity

Management of Staff, Freelancers and Volunteers

• Recruiting key staff and others.
• Leading, managing and developing direct reports and supporting them in managing their key workers – staff, freelancers and volunteers.
• Ensuring that processes for the recruitment and management of volunteers are developed and maintained
• Liaising with external HR consultants to update procedure and processes appropriately and managing staffing matters arising
• Enabling a safe, stimulating and supportive workplace where teams and activities can flourish and work standards and practices are maintained.
• Taking steps to ensure that staff and freelancers attain high standards of work.
• Ensuring that staff have, or can develop, the skills and abilities they need to carry out their jobs competently, safely and effectively.
• Maintaining and updating safeguarding standards and procedures and working with staff to ensure that staff and users are, and feel, safe.
• Acting as one of the two Safeguarding Leads for the charity and managing concerns from staff, users and visitors to the centres.

Finance & Fundraising

• Researching and writing funding bids to secure both restricted and unrestricted funds
• Exploring other possible sources of funding for programmes and core costs, including individual donors, corporate sponsorship and commercial opportunities.
• Working with the  Finance Manager, Treasurer, and external
Bookkeeper, including using Xero software, to monitor the finances of the charity to ensure that sufficient funds are attracted to run planned programmes, meet the commitments of the charity within agreed budgets, and produce regular reports.
• Maintaining adequate reserves for the charity in line with policy.
• Preparing the annual report and accounts for submission to the Charity Commission to be independently examined alongside the Chair and the Bookkeeper.

Management of the Buildings

• Overseeing relationship with Landlords and tenancy agreements
• Managing Centre Manager to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.

Partnerships & Representing the organisation

• Represent Ark-T as a leader in arts for improved mental health and wellbeing, driving change, particularly diversity and inclusion through influencing and contributing to the key meetings.
• Maintaining relationships and strategic partnership agreements with OX4 Food Crew Alliance, Oxford Community Action, Donnington Doorstep, Safe! and Waste2Taste.

Communications

• Overseeing the marketing and communications for Ark-T.
• Ensuring that key stakeholders are kept informed of the progress of the charity,
including the publication of an organisational wide impact report in 2024.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO?

We are the UK’s student mental health charity. We challenge the higher education sector, health sector, and government to work with students when making decisions that impact them, and make them accountable for prioritising student mental health. In collaboration with students, we show sector professionals what effective student mental health looks like, and bridge the gap between students and the communities around them to ensure their voices are always heard. 

By creating and curating resources, stories and tools, we empower students to build their own mental health toolkit to support themselves and their peers through university life and beyond. We want to empower and inspire students to use their voice to share their stories and advocate for themselves. 

ROLE PURPOSE

As our Executive Assistant (Maternity Cover, 0.8 FTE, Fixed term for 12 months), you will play a crucial role in developing and supporting our charity and strengthening our administration and governance. You will be providing flexible assistance primarily to our CEO, in the planning and delivery of their workload. You will also provide administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team, Trustee Board and other structured groups which shape the charity’s strategy and activities, for example our Clinical Advisory Group.  As such, you will have the opportunity to work with the entire Student Minds team and a variety of stakeholders across the health and higher education sectors.

Key responsibilities:

Chief Executive Officer assistance

• Email and calendar management: helping to prioritise demands, responding to correspondence on behalf of the CEO and following up with contacts post-meetings.
• Arrange meetings and itineraries and coordinate travel as required.
• Stakeholder management support: utilising CRM to maintain updated databases for organisational contacts; support with the completion of contracts and registering purchase orders with suppliers,where the CEO is the lead contact.

Meeting management

• Plan and coordinate relevant meetings to ensure they are purposeful and relevant. These will include Board meetings, Senior Leadership Team Meetings, Leadership Group meetings and any other general committee meetings.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for all meetings, arranging suitable meeting premises or software, preparing and circulating agendas and meeting papers in consultation with the relevant participants (e.g. Chair of the Board, CEO and Senior Leadership Team).
• Coordinate catering requirements and liaise with the finance team to make purchases.
• Take high-quality and accurate meeting minutes and circulate them for appropriate approval and sign-off.
• Ensure prompt follow-up with agreed action points and follow through with ongoing delivery of commitments.

Governance support

• Provide administrative support where applicable to meet the charity’s requirements with
• Companies House and the Charity Commission.
• Support with Trustee recruitment, induction and training.
• Support the charity’s continuous improvement and compliance using tools such as the Governance
• Code.

Senior Leadership Team coordination

• Support with coordinating multi-stakeholder meetings, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support members of the Senior Leadership Team or their guests with the use of our core systems and software (Google Workspace, Google Meet, Slack, Mural, Zoom).
• Process any travel expenses for the Senior Leadership Team.
• Manage charity records: provide historical reference by supporting procedures for the retention and disposal of records.
• Welcome guests and provide tours of facilities or support guests to use online meeting software where required.

Other duties

• Such other duties as may be reasonably prescribed by the organisation, appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of this post.
• Provide cover for other team members as necessary to ensure seamless operations and support across the organisation.
• Work to agreed charity and personal targets.
• Attend regular team meetings with Student Minds colleagues.
• Ensure compliance with Student Minds’ internal procedures and all external legal requirements.

• Undertake training and attend conferences as appropriate.

The Role

You will have specific responsibility for:

• Experience of delivering, monitoring and evaluating effective community engagement campaigns / outreach work

• Experience of designing and facilitating workshops, trainings, both online and in-person 

• An understanding of monitoring and evaluation and impact measurement

Action for M.E. is the only charity in the UK providing direct support including healthcare to children and adults with M.E.. We provide vital support services, campaign for change and invest in ground-breaking research to help put an end to the ignorance, injustice and neglect experienced by people with M.E.
 

Opportunity: 

Having been paused to new referrals, Action for M.E.’s free, independent, Adults Advocacy service will soon be re-opening. It’s one of our range of free Support Services that work with adults, young people, and/or families living with M.E. We support colleagues across the team to take part in and share reflective practice, self-care, peer-support and training.

Our Adults Advocacy service offers non-statutory, single-issue, instructed advocacy for adults with a confirmed diagnosis of M.E. We encourage self-advocacy where possible, though many of our clients are too severely affected by M.E. to be able to take undertake this.  

As an Adults Advocate, you will manage a caseload of clients, as well as inputting and contributing to the triage process along with your Advocacy colleagues. You will meet with clients by phone, email, Zoom and/or SMS; we can also facilitate communication by post if this is required. We are not able to offer home visits or face to face meetings.

Arts Emergency – Head of Fundraising

Arts Emergency, a mentoring charity and support network aiming to address the inequalities in the creative and cultural sectors, is looking for an experienced and motivated fundraiser to provide leadership and management for fundraising activities. 

Since 2013, Arts Emergency has been providing 16-25 year olds in London, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and beyond with a trained mentor working in their field of interest. Mentors help Young Talent set goals, explore their passions and make decisions about higher education, training and careers.  After they complete a year of mentoring, Young Talent can continue to access opportunities, advice, resources and paid work from the Arts Emergency Network until they turn 26. The network is made up of thousands of cultural professionals who’ve all offered to share crucial gateways into hard to crack industries like TV, publishing and architecture with young people.

This position will be responsible for raising the necessary income to ensure Arts Emergency’s high-quality, person focused, asset-based services for young people are sustainably funded and can

scale. This is a new role that reports to the Director of Fundraising & Marketing, overseeing a diverse income portfolio including individual giving, major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate donations, commercial income and community fundraising. The Head of Fundraising will have a particular focus on managing and growing the charity’s income from individuals and organisations, with an aim to increase overall fundraising to £1.25m in 2026.

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

We currently have around 90 staff based in England, Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland.

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive online community professional to join our friendly and supportive Peer Support team. This role is part of our peer support services team and will be responsible for supporting our online peer support communities, including our forum and Facebook groups.

The post holder will work directly with the Peer Support Manager and the Senior Online Communities Officer, as well as with colleagues from across the charity to develop our online communities, helping us to reach and support more people affected by bowel cancer and those concerned about symptoms, risk and pre-diagnosis.
