Job Title: Trust Fundraising Manager

Our mission is to tirelessly support and champion how parents can participate in education and have their voices heard.  We want to be a powerful force for good in education in the UK that strives to bring homes and schools together for the good of all children and society.  We have ambitious plans to increase our impact and are establishing a central fundraising strategy for the first time.  Therefore, we are looking for an experienced trust fundraiser to play a key role in delivering organisational growth. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our fledgling Fundraising Team and develop a trust fundraising programme from the ground up.  We are looking for someone with experience in raising funds from trusts and foundations, who is an excellent communicator - spoken and written – and who can undertake research to effectively identify appropriate prospects.  You will help to develop our case for support and develop a suite of proposals and reports that will convey to funders what Parentkind does, what the parents and schools we work with want, and how we support them.  Attention to detail is key, as is the ability to manage your time and prioritise your work.

• A minimum of two years of experience in trust fundraising

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a key member of the team, the Grants Officer will work closely with the Head of Charity and colleagues across the team to build a sustainable funding pipeline to help generate significant growth by securing grants by:

• Personally securing substantial gifts from Trusts and Foundations (up to £150k)
• Delivering income targets, in line with the annual budget, from a portfolio of Trusts and Corporate Foundations
• Responsibility for researching Trusts and Corporate Foundations in alignment with a wide variety of projects and appeals that address the needs of BTH
• Developing high-quality bids/applications/cases for support for a variety of funders
• Managing stewardship activities for Trusts and Corporate Foundations, including tracking of reports and payments
• Working proactively with contacts within the Trust to identify and scope opportunities to maximise impact and income
• Working effectively with operational and clinical staff to develop and implement opportunities to foster and strengthen long-term relationships with donors and Trust representatives

Essential criteria

• Evidence of high-levels of numeracy and literacy and good general level of education
• Degree qualification, in relevant business-related subject, or equivalent experience to degree level

• Fundraising specific training to degree level, e.g. proposal writing, negotiation skills etc., or equivalent experience

Experience

• A proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising income targets by writing bids and securing medium value gifts (£10k-£150k) within a Trusts and/or Major Donor Fundraising environment
• Experience researching prospects, including Trusts/Foundations and major donors, and managing data/prospects within a CRM system
• Knowledge of GDPR/data protection laws
• Self-motivated and self-directing; strong time management skills; strong attention to detail; flexible; and honest, with a high degree of personal integrity.

GMYN is looking for a new Grants & Trusts Fundraiser to join our team, and support our exciting youth charity to apply to a range of trusts/grant giving bodies to generate income.

Salary: NJC scales 23-28 (£32,076- £36,648*)

The role:

As an integral part of the Fundraising and Development team, you will work closely with the rest of our team to secure financial income enabling GMYN to meet its income generation targets. The Grants and Trust Fundraiser will bring their own ideas to seek new grant providers and apply accordingly for delivery and core funding for the charity.

Personal Specification:

You don't have to have worked in the voluntary youth sector previously. Our aim is to find a suitable candidate that can meet the selection criteria below. This can be from a past/current income generation/bid writer role, or a role with transferable skills.

More importantly we are looking for someone with genuine passion for working for a youth charity. Someone who can join our fundraising team and make a big impression, helping us to achieve our income generation goals.

We want to hire an enthusiastic person who can maintain positive working relationships with various supporters, delivery partners and all stakeholders.

Essential Criteria:

• Proven experience of bid writing or other similar income generation work with demonstrable transferable skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken with the ability to present confidently.
• Ability to self-manage, work independently to targets but also join up your work with the rest of the fundraising team.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and workstreams with a “can do” attitude in order to produce positive results.
• Experience and/or understanding of producing impact reports and reporting to various audiences, ideally funders.
• Motivation to work towards the charitable purpose of the organisation.
• Ability to effectively steward existing funder relationships to generate continuation funding.
• Competent in Microsoft office.

Desirable Criteria:

• Knowledge and understanding of fundraising methods and changing trends in the funding environment.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the ENN team as our Management Accountant - Grants.  The role provides the opportunity to work across the spectrum of ENN’s projects, as part of the operations team. You will be based in our headquarters in Oxfordshire and will work closely with ENN’s Finance Manager and Projects Team.

 About You

Bringing your experience of third sector accounting to ENN, you will be able to communicate well with both finance and non-finance stakeholders. You will be comfortable supporting complex projects, tailoring financial management information and reports to enable decision making and assuring donor compliance and reporting requirements are met consistently.

• Hours of work: Part time, 60% of full-time hours (22.5 hours per week – pattern to be agreed)

• Location: This is an office-based position at ENN’s Head Office in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, OX5. Some hybrid working may also be offered. Currently our Operations Teamwork from the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and we require this role to be in the office on these days.

Key responsibilities

 Grant compliance and reporting

• Financial compliance of grant spend in line with donor agreements ensuring no disallowable costs and that all allowable costs are reflected in the accounts correctly.
• Provide back up for grant financial reporting in the format required by donors for the projects team to review, collate and submit with the full donor reporting pack.
• Raise sales invoice to the donor with all back up attached and provide acknowledgement of funds letters upon receipt of cash in the bank.
• Work closely with the Finance Assistant and Projects team to ensure invoices are correctly coded to the right donor and project and complete month end reconciliations
• Input budget and quarterly reforecasts into the finance system (iplicit) and track grant performance against budgets on a regular basis providing variance analysis.
• Review and assimilate grant financial information for the Finance Manager and/or Project team as required which ultimately will be used as input in management reporting for various stakeholders (Technical budget holders, Management Team and Trustees).
• Support the organisation’s income generation ambitions, through the provision of advice, guidance and assistance, and in assisting with funding bids and budgeting and undertaking new funder/partner financial viability assessments as required.
• Maintain and update donor restricted fund balances/movements for year-end statutory reporting.
• Maintain project financial files and records for statutory audit and donor audit purposes.

Management accounting

• Prepare monthly income deferrals and income accruals and maintain month end trial balance reconciliations for management accounts.
• Capture any committed project costs to accrue.
• Apportion any interest earned from grant cash in the bank in line with donor contract terms.
• Work collaboratively with the Finance Manager on cash flow forecasting with regards to expected donor payments.
• As required by finance or the projects team, and working with iplicit, write reports in the finance system that would provide insightful and useful management information. For example, for grant monitoring and evaluation, trend analysis and assessing KPI’s etc
• Support the Finance Manager in capacity building and providing financial training to finance and non-finance staff.
• Provide ad hoc support to the Finance Manager with regards to specific financial projects, as required.
• Bank signatory for creditor payments in line with ENN’s Delegation of Authority Policy.
• Provide cover for the Finance Manager when necessary.

• Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. AAT, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, would consider part qualified or qualified by experience)
• Experience of charity-specific accounting and grant reporting requirements

Early activity has proved very promising and we’re now working with Amazon and the Barratt Foundation while conversations with other major brands are progressing. We are looking for someone with experience in securing a range of partnerships (including COTY, corporate grants, sponsorship, commercial and strategic relationships) with regional and national businesses with the capacity bank income at a 5, 6 and 7-figure level. You will be tenacious in your prospect research, and comfortable to package up creative propositions and compelling proposals tailored to each organisation's objectives.

• Work with programme and Innovation teams to support the development of programme/project specific monitoring and evaluation plans, theories of change and results frameworks. We are medical experts applying our skills and knowledge to make a difference in the world. We bring together the global community of medical imaging professionals to make the case for diagnostic imaging.

Since 2017, Worldwide Radiology has been steadily growing from a small group of founding UK radiologists with experience of working in limited resource settings to an international team of around 50 long-term volunteers from a range of different imaging and clinical backgrounds.

We support the development of appropriate, high quality imaging services in low and middle income countries; from central teaching hospitals to remote district clinics. Overview

The Programme Manager role will be crucial to the success and development of the charity. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of 3+ Worldwide Radiology projects, operating across Malawi, Ghana and The Gambia.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for quickly grasping the needs of three ongoing projects, steering them toward desired impact, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and managing risks effectively to bring these projects into shape.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with key stakeholders, including our volunteers, partners and donors to build and nurture strong working relationships.

They will contribute to seeking out further grant opportunities within the sector, working closely with the rest of the programmes team and the fundraising team.

    • Support programme managers to produce programme budgets

    • Provide insight on financial risks and opportunities to the staff team to support collective decision making

  • System Maintenance

    • Oversight of pass through grants and financial partnerships 

    • Managing financial service providers (payroll, auditors, book-keepers, software systems development)

  • Financial Compliance and Governance.

    • Coordinating annual audits 

    • Reporting to Companies House, and Charity Commission in conjunction with HR staff

    • Delivering quarterly management accounts to the staff team and Trustees.

    • Support external audits in conjunction with project staff. 

• Fundraising management and coordination

  • Strategic Development

    • Lead and facilitate the collective delivery, monitoring and development of a sustainable fundraising strategy to build financial resilience, in line with Platform’s values to meet the organisation's agreed financial objectives. 

    • Update and ensure active practice of ethical fundraising policy

  • Planning & Delivery

    • Work with staff team to implement short, medium and long-term fundraising plans

    • Develop and manage the fundraising pipeline, including, researching, scoping and supporting bid writing in collaboration with programme managers.

  • System Maintenance

    • Support grant management and reporting using appropriate software.

• Collective organisational management

  • Pro-actively participate in sociocratic, consensus decision making in our team meetings, contributing to the general strategic development of Platform.

  • Participate in line management processes, including line management of colleagues after probationary period

  • Active participation and collaboration in Platform’s restructure process, including development of roles, circles and teams.

Essential 

• Commitment to Platform’s vision, values and principles - in particular anti-oppression

• Experience of developing integrated financial and fundraising systems.

• Experience (2 years or more) of managing organisational finances, specifically:

  • Using finance software 

  • Managing payroll and pensions

  • Managing financial service providers

  • Financial compliance and governance

• Experience of developing long-term fundraising strategies focussed on trusts and grants.

• Experience of supporting staff to manage budgets and/or fundraise 

• Experience of collectively running a group, and/or working and/or organising within a collective management structure and/or a flat or non-hierarchical structure

• Excellent collaboration and team working skills, including clear and timely communication, openness to feedback and willingness to engage with conflict when necessary and with care

• Ability to work independently and autonomously within a collective, with a good ability to adapt to changing need and circumstance

Desirable 

• Track record of generating income for an organisation through fundraising, including managing and reporting on grants.
