As Prince’s Trust International transitions to The King’s Trust International and expands its reach, we have an exciting opportunity that will be pivotal in strengthening the legal, governance and assurance function for the charity.

You will be working closely with our Head of Legal & Company Secretary and lead on complex, challenging and meaningful projects worldwide. You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or paralegal with post qualification legal experience gained in house or in a proactive private practice environment that you will utilise to help the charity to boost its income, including through a newly established trading subsidiary, and to support young people through programmes delivered in over 18 countries.

You will need to be well-versed in most areas of charity and commercial law, adept at providing legal advice and assistance and able to undertake company secretarial and legal compliance matters. In addition, your excellent planning and organisation skills will enable you to prioritise and multitask as you work at the heart of the organisation’s governance, improving processes and achieving positive change.

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is a leading UK charity dedicated to improving the health and dignity of Palestinians affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement. With a focus on the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, we provide vital health and medical care to those in need, particularly in crisis zones like Gaza. The ideal candidate will have responsibilities that include monitoring compliance with MAP’s financial and procurement policies, developing strong cash and treasury management policies, and managing financial accounting systems. You will also ensure timely and accurate preparation of annual statutory accounts, compliance with relevant accounting and legal requirements, and submission of necessary returns to regulatory bodies. 

Duties and key responsibilities 

Leadership, Collaboration & Line Management 

• Support the Director of Operations through preparation for and reporting to governance meetings. 

• Participate actively as a member of the Leadership Team. 

• Provide leadership, direction, training, and motivation as appropriate to the UK Finance Manager, and the overseas Finance Managers in conjunction with overseas Directors. 

Finance Policy & Process Management 

• Be responsible for monitoring compliance with MAP’s financial and procurement policies and review and update these policies on a regular basis. 

• Develop and implement strong cash and treasury management policies and procedures. 

• Manage and develop all financial accounting systems in consultation with the Head of Reporting to ensure they are fit for purpose. 

• Help to ensure value for money and the effective use of funds across the organisation. 

Compliance & Regulatory Reporting 

• Manage the ongoing relationships with the external auditors. 

• Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of the annual statutory accounts for the annual audit and implement recommendations from the auditors and/or Board. 

• Monitor institutional income and related contracts and ensure that all restricted income, including Zakat, is properly accounted for. 

• Ensure the financial management of MAP is compliant with relevant accounting, legal, HMRC and tax requirements, including VAT and corporation tax, and that the correct returns are made. 

• Submit the necessary returns and maintain our records with the Charity Commission and Companies House on a timely basis.

Cashflow & Bank Account Management 

• Manage the ongoing relationships with MAP’s banks in the UK. 

• Maintain UK bank accounts and ensure financial governance is in place for overseas bank accounts.

• Ensure bank mandates and online banking operations are reviewed and updated on time. 

• Monitor and manage the organisation's cash flow to ensure there are sufficient currency funds to meet operational needs. 

• Review fund and payment  requests from overseas offices and that planned activities are within budget. 

• Release all payments from UK bank accounts, including UK payroll. 

Financial Controls 

• Implement appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures to protect against fraud and misappropriation. 

• Oversee and manage all payroll budgets and forecasts. 

• Oversee the payroll functions, ensuring adequate internal controls and approvals are in place and adhered to, and all statutory requirements are met. 

• Ensure regular reconciliations are made between the accounting system and the CRM. 

• Oversee legacy administration liaising with the Legacy Advisor. 

Risk Management 

• Risk management – manage strategic and operational financial risks working with the Head of Internal Audit & Compliance.

• Maintain insurance policies across all MAP offices to ensure appropriate and adequate risk mitigation and meet statutory requirements. 

Person Specification 

Experience 

• Extensive experience in a finance leadership role within a complex charitable organisation, working internationally. 

• Experience of UK charity finance practice and governance - UK Charities SORP FRS 102. 

• Excellent technical knowledge and skills in accountancy principles, governance, and standards, including preparation of statutory accounts. 

• Successful track record of managing financial systems, and cashflow. 

• Experience of working in a multi-currency organisation. 

• Ability to contribute to the management of in-country finance colleagues, while not taking direct line-management responsibility for them. 

Skills and abilities 

• Leadership skills to undertake a complex management role in an international organisation. 

• Excellent staff management, communication, and inter-personal skills. 

• Clear written /verbal communication skills, with the ability to present.

• Strong decision-making skills and ability to translate priorities into operational goals and plans.

Knowledge 

• Thorough understanding of financial accounting principles and techniques, particularly those relating to charities including charity regulations and the SORP. 

• Knowledge of the taxation regime for UK charities.  

• An appreciation of the political complexities in the Middle East region, of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and of the position of the Palestinian refugee population in regions where MAP operates. 

Education 

• A recognised professional Accounting Qualification, for example ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA.

Chief Advisor - Marine

Our major goal is to find solutions to the Triple Challenge of restoring nature, tackling climate change and feeding a growing global population all within the available resource limits of our one planet. As a member of our Science Team, you will help ensure we are viewed by the academic community and specialist bodies as a science and evidence-based organisation with conservation programmes and communications that are always informed by the latest scientific thinking.

As Chief Advisor you will lead our scientific understanding on marine issues and their impacts on the natural world and human society. You will help guide WWF-UK and WWF Network strategies on marine issues as well as help find solutions to address our Triple Challenge and reverse the decline in global biodiversity. We will look to you to provide technical support to our conservation and blue carbon work in UK coastal waters and be the lead expert on ocean systems and the drivers impacting them, including the potential for ocean tipping points. You will also act as a primary contact in your area of expertise with relevant UK government departments, specialists in the private sector, other NGOs and international policy-makers and have the ability to influence policy. You will help identify and fill knowledge gaps as well as provide the evidence underpinning WWF policy positions.

To play your part in saving our planet, you must have a track record in thought leadership on marine science and policy, coupled with a good understanding of the ocean-climate nexus and the negative drivers impacting ocean systems. You will also possess a good grasp of current science and policy debates, along with experience of providing strategic leadership to organisations and programmes. You will have sound knowledge of international policy and governance structures as they relate to the oceans including the UNFCCC, CBD and the High Seas Treaty.

Effective at influencing key political and business stakeholders and shaping policy debates, you will also have excellent communication and advocacy skills. About the Role:
As our Senior Advocacy Advisor on International Financial Institutions you will increase and strengthen our advocacy and capacity to influence global development finance institutions, particularly the World Bank but also be informed on major developments in other IFIs, e.g. recent Paris Summit and Global Financing Pact. We want to ensure our engagement is systematic, impactful and builds up an increased evidence base for influence on the institution.

In this role, you will will employ a range of strategies to advocate for changes in the policies, standards and practices of the World Bank particularly as it relates to water sanitation and hygiene particularly in the context of the twin climate change and global health crises. This position will include a focus on the World Bank Group's Water Global Practice and the Global Water Security and Sanitation Partnership, as well as also support WaterAid Country Programme teams and partners to influence the World Bank's operations at the country level. 

You'll also: 

• Develop and implement advocacy strategies designed to influence the policies of the World Bank and other relevant IFIs on water sanitation & hygiene in line with WaterAid's globally agreed policy and campaign priorities, and in coordination with allies.
• Build a network of contacts and relationships, including relevant IFI/ World Bank staff and Executive Directors, gather information, and advocate with the Board and staff of the World Bank on particular country operations and key policy areas
• Build technical knowledge and understanding of the Bank's policies and practices in relation to the WASH sector, including the activities of the International Development Association (IDA) and how these relate to countries in which WaterAid has CPs
• Keep abreast of complex and fast changing political debates and monitor emerging trends internationally, across the Bank's key donor governments to inform WaterAid's political positioning, ensuring the organisation's advocacy is responsive and relevant;Actively participate in and contribute to the political influencing and campaign strategies for the Global Advocacy Priority campaigns on WASH & climate and on WASH & women's health.

Job Purpose: To develop and manage, to a high standard, Age UK Bromley & Greenwich’s Information and Advice Service. Key Responsibilities:

Line management and supervision

Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth (CAML) is the leading advice charity supporting individuals and families primarily across the London boroughs of Lambeth and Merton but also wider London.  We provide a range of information, support and advice services.  We also work to raise awareness and understanding of the challenging issues affecting our clients and communities.

Over the next five years, Fauna & Flora aspires to enhance its global impact through investment, growth, visibility and influence. An essential part of this will be through greatly expanding awareness and visibility of its programmes among UK and global target audiences and by exponentially increasing its fundraising efforts and results.

A key and growing audience for Fauna & Flora in the UK and globally is high net worth individuals and corporates, and specifically those who are willing to give high value unrestricted support to our global conservation work. As a result, we are launching a transformational fundraising plan to 2030, and we are seeking an experienced Senior Philanthropy Adviser to help us meet our ambitious targets, securing high value donations from our existing networks and helping us to reach out to new contacts and networks to build our pipeline for support.

You will be focussed on developing a portfolio of high value supporters in the UK, but you will also develop strong working relationships across high value fundraising activities in the USA and Australia, as well as more widely across the fundraising communications teams, and also with senior leadership including the CEO and with our volunteers including trustees.

To this end we are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our Philanthropy team in this role. The role requires an individual with passion and drive to inspire and motivate donors to give significant funding to our cause, but also with the ability to listen and understand prospect motivations, in order to build lasting relationships. You will have expert technical and professional skills in major donor fundraising and a proven ability to develop fundraising strategy for high level donors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Research and evaluate new funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and other grant funders, maintaining a 12-month funding calendar.

2. Cultivate and nurture relationships with funding/grant-making organisations, both new and existing.

3. Develop compelling cases for support for designated projects or organisational areas, tailoring funding bids and applications accordingly.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

1. Proven experience and success in developing and drafting proposals and/or reports raising funds from trusts, foundations, other grant makers or the equivalent.

2. Experience of creating compelling and concise funding proposals, written documents and reports from a range of information sources, including detailed technical or sector specific information. about the organisation’s work.

3. Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

4. Experience of research techniques applicable to identifying funding opportunities and framing funding bids.

The RCR is a charity with a focus on supporting doctors who deliver medical imaging and cancer services and we require a passionate and dynamic finance professional to helps us continue making a difference.

The Head of Finance will manage the high-performing finance team consisting of a Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant and Finance Business Partner. Sitting in the Business and Resources Directorate the team are instrumental to the successful running of the RCR. In this role you will be responsible for the operational finance function which handles accounting, financial reporting, planning and transactional activities as well as supporting longer-term strategic planning.

As a finance professional you will use your expertise to further support the RCR by delivering the organisations financial objectives and build strong working relationships with managers to equip them with the tools to make good financial decisions. Role Description

The Head of Research and Programmes is a new role, leading and overseeing the delivery of our grant-making activity across eye research and social change: delivering first class grant programmes that respond to need as our organisation scales up. The role will lead on key strategic projects and relationships that will increase the Impact of our funding and the value we add to the sectors we work in.  This role will also develop and own an appropriate impact framework to ensure we're able to amplify the work we fund and demonstrate the value of our approach to funders and supporters.

Role Responsibilities:

Overseeing our Grant Programmes

· Driving work in areas where our organisation can add value and meet need, including scoping new potential programmes and partnerships as well as ensuring our current programmes evolve

· Lead on delivering high quality  funding programmes that meet regulatory (AMRC) requirements as appropriate and provide an excellent experience for applicants, both successful and unsuccessful

· Be responsible for the financial management of budget associated with our funding programmes, working closely with the Finance Team

· Lead and manage the programme teams to analyse the external environment, identify unmet need and how we can add greater value in the sectors we work in

· Proactively disseminate insights from our funded research and project partners, gather sector knowledge, e.g. through delivering presentations, networking and representing our organisation externally with other grant makers/philanthropic organisations and sector partners. 

Impact, evaluation and learning

· Work with the Director of Impact and External Affairs to develop and deliver an appropriate impact framework for our organisation, ensuring that we’re able to amplify the work we fund and demonstrate value to our funders and supporters

· Work closely with the Head of Communications and External Affairs to ensure that the narrative around our impact is powerful and consistent

· Initiate and facilitate new partnership opportunities, e.g. for co-funding grants, or for co-creating innovative project ideas for consideration through our funding programmes.

Strategic projects and relationships:

· Act as the primary point of contact for scientific advisors and subject matter experts, supporting the programme managers by providing senior stakeholder and relationship management support, e.g. with funded researchers, institutions, sector partners and potential future partners

· Commission relevant evidence gathering, project or development work to support the evolution of our funding programmes, specifically our focus during 2024/25 on the North East of England .

· Work with fundraising colleagues to provide support and information to develop cases for support, including pitching alongside the fundraising team when required.

· Work closely with colleagues in communications to ensure that the scope and impact of our work is widely understood and communicated

· Lead on specific initiatives to support our research strategy and to enhance our social change funding programme, e.g. developing a network for early career researchers and involvement of experts by experience across our work.

Person specification:

Skills, knowledge & experience

Essential 

· A postgraduate degree in a biomedical sciences, health or social sciences subject or equivalent work experience

· Experience of working in a funder organisation, ideally supporting research or social change programme delivery including patient and public involvement and/or other co-production methods.

· Enthusiastic about vision research with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret, analyse and summarise evidence, including from technical scientific papers, for a variety of audiences.

· Experience of monitoring, evaluation and learning within a grant making environment, including facilitating opportunities for grantees to come together, either through structured development programmes or sharing best practice

· Proficient in the use of standard IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ideally familiar  with Grant Management Systems or able to learn how to use these quickly.

Desirable

· An advanced research degree (PhD) in biomedical sciences, health or social sciences subject or equivalent work experience

· Experience of working directly in or supporting vision and sight loss research or funding programmes.

· Understanding of the wider research and programme funding landscape and initiatives for responsible funding activities
