Job description

Head of Corporate Business Development
Permanent
£54,000 to £60,000 per annum
Dual location: London & Home based

Would you like to innovate and lead a game-changing multi-million pound business development team for one of the UK's leading charities? Are you an experienced leader who inspires your team to attract and develop high-value and transformational partnerships? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

At Macmillan, we understand how important it is that our workforce is representative of the people we support, and who support us. We particularly welcome applications from Disabled, ethnic minority and LGBTQ+ candidates, as these people are under-represented in our organisation at this level.

We want to ensure roles are accessible and inclusive of everyone, which is why Macmillan offers a high degree of flexibility around ways of working. This role is ‘dual location’, split between home and our headquarters in Vauxhall, London, with flexible start and finish times. As an externally facing role with critical external stakeholder relationships, we would expect some flexibility in terms of travelling to see partners and prospects.

About the role
Macmillan’s fundraising income has been impacted heavily by the pandemic. Now is a critical time for us to revolutionise our income methods and goals, so that we can continue to provide support to the millions of people who need us now, and in the future.

In this role, you will be responsible for shaping our Corporate Business Development strategy to increase our income over the next 3-5 years. You will be responsible for leading a team to attract new partnerships to join our award-winning portfolio including Boots, M&S, Virgin Money, Cazoo and many more. You will encourage innovation and embrace thought leadership, for Macmillan to continue growing a sector leading portfolio of partnerships. As the technical expert, you will support and inspire your team to secure commercial and strategic partnerships to deliver income and impact for people living with cancer.

About you
You have a track record in winning partnerships and leading your team to do the same. You have a proven ability to build excellent relationships and networks to deliver your team’s ambition. You are a strategic and critical thinker with experience in identifying areas of opportunity to increase income and creating the winning strategy to realise it.

You have experience in leading a team and securing £1m+ multi-year relationships with companies. You are an experienced leader who can motivate and manage a team and create a high-performing culture. You have proven commercial acumen in a public or private context, and have been responsible for delivering a minimum of £1m pa of income.

About us

We help millions of people with cancer across the UK live life as fully as they can through physical, emotional and financial support. Our values are at the heart of who we are and everything we do, inspiring our thinking and guiding our actions. Together, we do whatever it takes for people living with cancer; with heart, with strength and with ambition.

We commit to actively developing you and our benefits include private medical insurance, life assurance, pension, generous leave, interest free loans for season tickets and gym memberships and much more.

Recruitment process

The deadline for applications is Sunday 28th November at 23:59 pm.

Virtual interviews will commence w/c Monday 6th December 2021 and there will be two stages.

In order to ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all of our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed so that shortlisting is based solely upon the suitability of the candidate’s experience.

Please note that internally this role is called “Corporate Business Development Lead”.
