Volunteers provide support to families in the families own home. We support families as they learn to cope, improve confidence and reduce risk of problems within the families from escalating. We tailor our support to the needs of the family, using a holistic approach to all support. We empower and enable families to make long term positive changes.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Family and Volunteer Coordinator.
Purposes of the job
- To contribute to the effective day to day operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Memorandum & Articles of Association, Home-Start,
Standards & Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance Standards.
- To maintain high standards of practice in supporting families within the Home-Start model
- To ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of the scheme’s work.
- Implement good safeguarding practice in all areas of work
Main Responsibilities
Supporting the work of the scheme
- Undertaking work as delegated by the senior member of staff to support the strategic management, development and future funding of the scheme.
- Supporting the implementation and review of all Home-Start policies and procedures.
- Complying with the scheme’s administration, monitoring and financial systems.
- Promoting the work of the scheme, as required by the Senior Worker
- Contributing to and supporting the development of the Home-Start network locally, regionally and nationally.
Support for families
- Receiving referrals and assessing needs of families.
- Attending Integrated allocation meetings
- Completing reports as directed by the scheme manager
- Introducing families to appropriate support.
- Ensuring support to families is reviewed at regular intervals and at the end of Home-Start support, in line with current Home-Start guidance
- To undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare.
Managing Volunteers
- Recruiting, selecting and preparing suitable volunteers.
- Matching and introducing volunteers to families.
- Contribute as directed to the delivery of the Home-Start preparation course in full and to a high standard to all prospective volunteers
- Providing support, supervision and initial and on-going training opportunities for volunteers.
Working in Partnership
- Ensuring appropriate liaison with referrers and other professionals
- Networking appropriately within the community.
The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.

Purpose of role
Volunteering Matters has been commissioned by Warwickshire County Council to deliver a new community-based programme to promote healthy lifestyles and encourage behaviour change to improve the health and wellbeing of people aged 18+ within Warwickshire. There will be a focus on COVID-19 prevention and prehabilitation messages. COVID-19 Prehabilitation refers to improving physical health and mental wellbeing in preparation of a “stressor” such as a COVID-19 infection, so that the individual is better equipped to cope with a possible infection and to minimise its impact.

We are seeking to recruit Midlands based Social Prescribing Link Worker for a range of periods of fixed term employment up to three years working in a partnership between Starfish Health and Wellbeing and the Primary Care Network.

Social prescribing empowers people to take control of their health and wellbeing through referral to non-medical ‘link workers’ who give time, focus on ‘what matters to me’ and take a holistic approach, connecting people to community groups and statutory services for practical and emotional support.
Link Workers will support existing groups to be accessible and sustainable working collaboratively with local partners.
Key tasks of the role include: taking referrals from a wide range of agencies, working with GP practices within primary care networks, hospital discharge teams, pharmacies, job centres etc to promote social prescribing and its role in self-management; providing personalised support to individuals, their families and carers to improve their health outcomes; help people identify the wider issues that impact on their health and wellbeing, such as debt, loneliness, unemployment etc; working with individuals to co-produce simple personalised support plans, including helping people to gain skills for meaningful employment, where appropriate; supporting community groups to receive referrals; working collectively with all local partners to ensure sustainable community groups and with commissioners and local partners to identify unmet needs within the community; recruiting and developing a team of volunteers to provide ‘buddying support’ for people, starting new groups and finding creative community solutions to local issues, providing regular ‘confidence surveys’ to community groups receiving referrals, to ensure strength and sustainability and data capture.
The role will require the successful candidates to manage and prioritise their own caseload.
All Starfish appointments are subject to a six- month probationary period.

Working directly to the CEO in the administration of governance systems and processes within Springfield Mind and to manage the facilities, administration and general office functions supporting the organisation’s service delivery and support programmes.
