About BEfriend
BEfriend is a registered charity operating in the London Borough of Ealing since 1994, and more recently, launching in the neighbouring borough of Hounslow. Our aim is to reduce chronic loneliness and isolation experienced by local people through one-to-one volunteer befriending and social events.
Role Purpose
To take responsibility for BEfriend’s trust and foundation applications and generate new funding opportunities.
Main Duties:
Trusts and foundations
● Lead on the trust and foundation funding applications which deliver BEfriend’s strategy.
● Work with the staff team to ensure that BEfriend’s work is accurately represented in funding applications.
● Research funding prospects and ensure a strong pipeline of applications at all times.
● Develop and maintain good working relationships with current and potential funders.
● Lead on reports to funders and work with colleagues to ensure reports are completed on time, meeting funder reporting requirements.
● Evaluate bids
Other tasks
● Work with the CEO to develop a fundraising strategy for the next 3 years and agree fundraising targets and key performance indicators
● Build and develop our Individual Giving Campaign
● Work with the CEO to develop relationships with statutory bodies
● Develop relationships with local businesses to engage supporters
● Manage engagement and fundraising events as required

About the role
We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity available for a home-based Community Development Co-ordinator to join our team covering the Birmingham & Solihull area, engaging with the local community. You will promote Dementia awareness across Birmingham & Solihull, with a specific aim to reduce inequalities and reach those with protected characteristics, such as through enhancing awareness, understanding, access to diagnosis and also support for people affected by dementia in groups with protected characteristics. In addition, you will work with those individuals experiencing and/or at risk of other health inequalities, e.g., through lack of access to digital technologies or those living in rural locations or those seldom heard from groups within Birmingham & Solihull.
You will actively explore new possibilities for awareness raising.
About you
- Working experience with people affected by dementia (including carers).
- Previous working knowledge of making local contacts and networking with various services and providers to offer the widest range of opportunities to those we support and the ability to build relationships within communities and local community groups.
- A non-judgmental approach and outstanding communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Experience and knowledge of working alongside volunteers and have the understanding to champion the valuable contribution volunteers bring to services.
- Able to travel independently across the required region.
- An understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers would be an advantage but if you have had experience supporting with other challenges this would be taken into consideration.

- Excellent IT skills and ability to use Microsoft packages confidently.
- Be able to work collaboratively with other team members when required.

As a Partnerships Officer (PO) you will be responsible for providing support across our national partnership team. This team is responsible for developing and engaging our corporate, trust, school and individual supporters, helping Envision to grow with impact. This role will have a particular focus on the development of corporate partnerships which provide mentor teams to support our young people’s development and funding to support our own sustainability.
Working closely with the Director of People and Partnerships, Regional Managers, the Senior Partnerships Manager and another Partnerships Officer, you will provide research, administration, and business development across the wider team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Partnerships Team in meeting income targets from diverse donor sources.
- Research and grow potential supporters across various donor types.
- Manage partnership records and serve as the primary contact for inquiries.
- Provide administrative support to the wider team.
- Uphold Envision’s values and be a role model for young people and volunteers.
- Ensure that all activity is delivered in line with Envision policies and procedures.
Essential Experience, Knowledge and Competencies:
- Experience of project management – highly organised, with the ability to manage your own time to meet deadlines
- Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues, partners and stakeholders – communicating effectively through written and verbal communication
- Experience of working within a fundraising capacity or generating new business – including desk research and self-generating new leads
- Commitment to Envision’s vision, mission and values and ability to work well in, and contribute to, our organisational culture
