As Events and Community Officer, you will be working in the Enterprise Hub team. The Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Hub supports talented entrepreneurs and decision makers to transform breakthrough engineering innovations into disruptive spinouts, startups and scaleups.

Our entrepreneurs benefit from the prestigious national and global network of the Academy’s Fellows and experts. We have delivered 10 years of success, enabling our members to form a powerful, thriving, and supportive community of over 350 innovators. We run four programmes at multiple stages, from ideation to scaleup, for entrepreneurial engineers at different career points. Thanks to our charitable status, we don’t take equity, fees or IP.

The role will be to support, curate and deliver opportunities for a community of UK’s brightest engineering and technology entrepreneurs and business leaders (startups and scale-ups) to enable them to advance their entrepreneurial journeys and to provide them with opportunities to flourish. In joining the Enterprise Hub, the individual will work to support delivery of an ambitious programme of community engagement activities including monthly ecosystem meetups in London, developing new activities for our co-working space and for our communities, supporting our regional teams with the development (and possible delivery) of events, and helping to strengthen our alumni support.

Kingston Voluntary Action (KVA) is a long-established and well-respected infrastructure support organisation for the voluntary and community sector in Kingston. We have grown in the last few years in the number and variety of projects as well as the number of team members. KVA is in its second year of delivering the Infrastructure Support Contract awarded by the Royal Borough of Kingston.

Together with our VCSE Sector Development Manager, internal team and external partners, you will ensure that KVA offers an ambitious and innovative capacity building programme for Kingston community and voluntary sector organisations.

Working across the whole charity, you will work to sell existing products, courses and events, as well as membership subscriptions. Churches Conservation Trust works with communities to look after 357 historic churches, over two million visitors annually and hundreds of events both private and public. These ancient, listed sites are among the most beautiful locations in England.

You’ll be visiting sites in your patch regularly, encouraging new supporters, holding local meetings, and raising funds to meet each building’s unique needs. Community Fundraising Officer – Temporary Position from May 24 for 6 months (£24-25k)

We’re building our new fundraising team and this temporary role will play an important part in accelerating our ambitious plans to increase annual income during 2024/25.

You will become the fourth member of the Fundraising Team (there are 3 full time staff) and will help to support the fundraising team.

Sepsis is the immune system’s overreaction to an infection or injury. There are over 245,000 cases each year in the UK with approximately 48,000 deaths. UKST aims to reduce preventable deaths from this ‘killer’ condition. We achieve this by:

· Raising awareness

· Supporting those affected by sepsis

· Educating health professionals

· Lobbying political organisations for better sepsis and severe infection care

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver supporter journeys i.e. fundraising resources and stewardship communications to maximise supporter numbers, retention and engagement.

2. Use UKST’s CRM system (Raiser’s Edge) to accurately capture fundraiser information and key data contributing to the improved development and implementation of fundraising processes.

3. Communicate proactively and effectively with team members to pass on all relevant information, deliver excellent supporter care and to maximise fundraising opportunities. 

4. Provide excellent customer service members of the public, either via phone, mail and in person, help to develop Fundraising activity whilst also offering our Support Services where necessary.

5. Represent the charity as and when required in schools, local businesses, and community groups, including speaking at events if – not essential

6. Keep up to date with best practice in fundraising and ensure compliance with the latest legislation and guidelines.

7. Assist in prioritising & managing enquiries about our Community Fundraising Programme via our dedicated inboxes.

8. Work collaboratively with the fundraising team and our Communications and Marketing Team to ensure maximum press and social media coverage is obtained for UKST’s community fundraising activities.

The NCD Alliance (NCDA) is a global civil society alliance of 400+ civil society members across 80 countries dedicated to supporting a world free from preventable suffering, disability and death caused by noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Over 14 years, NCDA has built a reputation as a leading global advocacy organisation on NCDs, a global thought leader on NCD policy and practice, a convener and mobiliser of the NCD civil society movement, a partner to governments and the World Health Organization and other United Nations agencies, and an advocate for meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs.

Job description 

The Capacity Development unit seeks a Capacity Development Officer to support the implementation of the Our Views, Our Voices initiative, specifically the emerging capacity development work on equity. The Our Views, Our Voices initiative is a flagship initiative of the NCDA and people living with NCDs dedicated to promoting the meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs in the NCD response, supporting and enabling individuals to share their views to take action and drive change. It seeks to break down stigma and discrimination, equipping people living with NCDs with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to be change agents at local and global levels. 

Designing equitable solutions for NCDs requires reaching those left furthest behind, adopting rights-based approaches, and applying principles of meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs to redress power imbalances. Putting people and communities at the centre allows to identify how different drivers and lived experiences interact and to identify solutions to the barriers faced in accessing care across the continuum and in achieving equity. 

NCDA recently published an NCD Equity Framework to provide community advocates with an introduction to what health equity means in the context of NCDs and adding an equity lens to advocacy on NCDs. It identifies eight priority areas for advancing health equity for NCDs addressing common barriers to equity. To accompany the Framework NCDA has produced a Practical Guide. To support civil society and community advocates operationalize a health equity lens for NCD advocacy, NCDA has developed an accompanying Practical Guide for NCD Community Advocates. This guides advocates to develop an NCD Equity Report using an NCD Health Equity Assessment Tool to establish a foundation for advocacy efforts in this area. 

The Capacity Development Officer will support the roll-out of the equity work with national alliances via a new grant to support national alliances conduct an NCD equity assessment, produce an NCD equity report and add an equity lens to advocacy efforts in-country to support more equitable NCD responses and ensure the most vulnerable populations are reached. The role will strengthen capacity of national alliances by supporting the delivery of training on equity and broader Our Views, Our Voices training. The role will also provide support to global advocacy and accountability efforts ensuring close linkages with national level work on the theme of equity. 

The Capacity Development Officer will work with people living with NCDs, Our Views, Our Voices advocates, national and regional alliances, the Capacity Development unit, colleagues in the policy, advocacy, accountability and communications units, and other stakeholders for the fulfilment of its responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring an understanding and experience of advocacy, global health and equity, communications, grant administration and overall programme management.

NCDA seeks applicants with suitable experience and background for a full-time role as Capacity Development Officer. This position reports to the UK-based Capacity Development Manager. This position is possible thanks to NCD Alliance’s partnerships with Bristol Myers Squibb and with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and is subject to yearly renewal. The role is based in London, UK, and is open to UK citizens and other applicants who already possess a valid work authorisation. Core responsibilities 

Support the Capacity Development unit in grant administration duties, including grantee communications, grant awards and compliance, grantee reporting and monitoring and evaluation.

Stay current on health equity issues, best practices, and emerging trends on the topic of health equity. 

Maintain regular communications with relevant key stakeholders, including regional and national NCD alliances, Our Views, Our Voices advocates for advocacy and network updates relating to the initiative, as well as for mobilisation in relevant global opportunities. 

Handle administrative responsibilities and Capacity Development work as needed. 

Provide support at capacity development meetings as required, including administrative and content development support. 

Look for opportunities to showcase the Our Views, Our Voices initiative in events and platforms. 

Experience and skills 

• Advanced university degree in public health, international relations, public policy, or similar, with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant job-related non-profit experience. 
• Demonstrated interest and understanding of health equity and social determinants of health; knowledge of global health and noncommunicable diseases would be ideal. 
• International work experience highly desired, as well as professional knowledge of advocacy, grant administration, policy and/or programmes 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international team environment. 
• Excellent organisation and strategic planning skills, and ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

We’re looking for a proactive Community Engagement Officer with an eye for detail and a can-do attitude who is willing to learn, grow and take ownership of this newly created and unique role.

You’ll be a warm and friendly communicator, both verbally and in writing, and be excited about raising support and awareness for SSR’s work with those affected by scoliosis.

As the Community Engagement Officer, working with the Community Engagement Manager you will manage relationships with regular donors and support individuals to fundraise effectively for SSR as well as thanking fundraisers and donors.

You will work with the Community Engagement Manager to support our wider fundraising efforts by providing administrative support.

A significant part of your role will be to respond to Helpline enquiries, either by phone or email. You will be the first point of contact.  Training will be given on this.

You will also handle liaising and looking after our members and processing new membership applications.

You’ll work closely with the Community Engagement Manager on any events. The yearly ‘Scoliosis Awareness Day’ event, along with the Zorab Symposium which takes place every three years and any patient meetings that take place.

This role requires you to be proactive in researching new potential funding sources and monitoring grant and tender alerts; and you will be expected to manage and further develop a suite of bidding resources.

You will work from a Sustrans office, preferably in Bristol, with the flexibility to work from home, or home-based within reasonable travelling distance from Bristol. 

About you 

Experienced in providing administrative support and coordinating work in a busy environment, you will be able to communicate and build relationships easily, enabling you to engage with multiple teams and work effectively with colleagues across the organisation. 

You will be highly organised, comfortable multi-tasking and working to deadlines, with excellent attention to detail. You’ll use your excellent planning skills to help anticipate and manage potential issues before they arise.

You will have experience of using business development management, client/customer relationship management or contact systems. Ideally you will be familiar with tender procurement portals, grant funding websites and funding sources.

About the role

The St Pancras Community Association (SPCA) is a charity delivering high quality services for Camden residents, especially the lively and diverse community of the St Pancras and Somers Town ward. As the Director of SPCA you will lead and guide a highly skilled and motivated team to make the SPCA a community hub and a centre of excellence which has a positive impact on the lives of local residents.

The governance of SPCA is overseen by a Board of Trustees. The Director will report directly to this Board and work closely with Board members.

Key responsibilities

• To build strong relationships with members of the local community, community groups, representatives and service providers to ensure that strategies and services are based on an understanding of the community’s needs and the contribution that SPCA is best placed to make as part of the of the range of local support services.

• To develop and deliver a business plan based on a financially sustainable strategic vision and which maximises the use of existing and emerging funding and income generation sources and opportunities.

• To provide a caring and highly supportive working environment which enables all staff and partners to fully contribute their skills, knowledge and perspectives.

• To manage, plan and monitor budgets to ensure the continuing financial sustainability of the Centre and to work with the Treasurer to ensure that the Centre is operating effective, and compliant accounting practices, policies and procedures.

• To ensure that SPCA fulfils its legal and procedural obligations under relevant legislation.

• To maintain an effective and transparent working relationship with the Board of Trustees to

  ensure that Trustees are kept informed of opportunities, threats and challenges and are fully involved in decision making.

  Main tasks

• Overseeing all fundraising activities from trusts, the local authority, local businesses and the community.

• Overseeing the development and implementation of an income generation strategy that includes maintaining and securing funding from statutory bodies, charitable trusts and any other relevant agencies/organisations and delivering charged services.

• Forming collaborative partnerships with organisations and agencies from all sectors that can be developed into services and business ventures

• Line managing key staff and ensuring that effective line managing processes are in place for other staff and volunteers. The postholder will directly line manage approximately xxx staff.

• Holding monthly staff meetings where everyone is heard and respected

• Ensuring all employees receive appropriate line management, where issues and problems

  that arise are handled with sensitivity and a high priority is given to staff development.

• Overseeing the recruitment and induction of new staff in accordance with the SPCA’s Equal Opportunities.

• Ensuring arrangements are in place for the systematic collection and review of employees opinions and the opinions of service users and potential users

• Ensuring effective systems are in place for monitoring and evaluating project performance.

• Attending meetings of the Board of Trustees as appropriate.

• Keeping the Chair, and other Trustees as appropriate, informed about SPCA’s business

  between formal Board meetings.

  Person Specification Essential

• Experience of managing an organisation or department at a senior level.

• Experience of delivering services and activities which have had a measurably positive impact

  on communities or specific groups.

• Experience of financial planning and maintaining financial sustainability by activities such as

  securing external funding, securing sponsorship and charging for services.

• Experience of delivering successful marketing and promotional activities.

• Experience of staff management and successful team building.

• A commitment to advancing and developing equal opportunities and anti-

  discrimination/anti-harassment policies.

  Desirable

• Experience of managing an organisation within the voluntary and community sector.

• Experience of developing policies, procedures and practices for voluntary and community

  sector organisations.

• Understanding of the current and likely future funding environment of voluntary and

  community sector organisations and awareness of external strategies, policies and developments affecting voluntary and community sector funding.

Our new CEO will work with a small staff and a diverse group of regular teachers and other professionals to develop this long-established organisation. We currently provide yoga classes and workshops for 30,000 students each year. Are you keen to be part of this growing community?

You should be able to balance a wide variety of tasks, and bring your expertise to bear in advising and informing the board of trustees. You should also be able to work with sub-committees to guide them in bringing about the strategic objective of the board.

We are fortunate to own superb, purpose-built yoga studios (the first in Europe) and are marking our fortieth year in Maida Vale this year. We have ambitious medium to long-term plans to develop our work and buildings further. You will be an integral part in bringing this about.

You should bring a willingness to take part in all aspects of the organisation from accounting and management reports to scheduling classes and workshops, and facilities care. This will involve working closely with professional and service-based contractors at every level.
