About the PVRI
We’re a small charity with a global reach and an important purpose: to reduce the burden of pulmonary vascular disease.

PVD is a serious condition which can lead to heart damage and trigger symptoms like breathlessness, chest pain, fatigue, poor growth, fainting and light-headedness. It can reduce both quality of life and length of life, but it isn’t widely recognised, or well-understood.

We bring together an international network of professionals to improve clinical care, education and PVD research. The network comprises thousands of clinicians, scientists, academics and industry partners, supported by our small team in Bermondsey, London. Together we deliver conferences, e-learning, an academic journal, and we raise awareness of the condition.

Much of the work is done by international working groups, and we’re seeking a new Project Coordinator to provide administrative and project support to those groups.

About the role
The job involves co-ordinating and servicing meetings across different time zones, maintaining workgroup records, developing surveys, pulling together academic papers for publication, event planning, and project work.

We’re looking for someone with excellent organisational and administrative skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to write and adapt complex information to produce clear, accurate and accessible documents in English. You’ll need strong IT skills, and the ability to juggle competing demands with efficiency, tact and good humour. You can find details of all these activities on our website.

The role provides coordination support to research, events and learning activities and offers valuable exposure to ISEAL and our community members’ work. The successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of how market-based sustainability tools such as standards are catalysing global efforts to advance on critical social and economic sustainability issues. If you are looking to apply your existing coordination and research skills to work on sustainability systems and research, this role will provide you with some excellent insights and networks. 

ISEAL supports sustainability standards and similar market-based sustainability systems to improve their impacts on people and planet.  ISEAL’s Credibility Principles and Codes of Good Practice are used globally to guide the development of credible sustainability systems and to evaluate the credibility of sustainability claims. 

The main objective of the ISEAL´s impacts and research work is to gather, share, generate and disseminate credible and compelling research that helps ISEAL and its stakeholders understand the impacts and effectiveness of market-based sustainability approaches such as the use of standards, company approaches and other voluntary tools. A key mechanism to achieve this vision is the Evidensia platform evidensia(.)eco launched with partners in 2019. The maintenance, upkeep and growth of Evidensia as an independent and credible public good tool to share results and learning on market-based tools is a key responsibility this role.

The position will provide administrative and coordination support to the team and workstream including supporting research tracking, coding, delivery of learning events, communications, project management on special research projects and liaison with other ISEAL teams on collaborative work. Specific project assignments will change over time as ISEAL’s project portfolio evolves. 

To be considered for this role, you will have good research experience and an interest in using research to drive learning and improve practice. You will be highly organised and reliable, with attention to detail and an ability to take things forward within an agreed scope. You enjoy working on a varied and changing set of tasks related to an area of specialist knowledge and will thrive on engaging with complex systems and problems and learning more about topics related to sustainability standards.  You have a friendly and professional demeanour and are comfortable in your communications and interactions with colleagues and external stakeholders. You can bring sound research skills and a good level of work experience in roles focused on project administration, research or analysis, stakeholder engagement and communications.

The position will be based in ISEAL’s Impacts and Evidence workstream which sits within the Policy and Engagement Team.

Key Responsibilities we will entrust you with:

Project coordination and delivery support

• Coordinate project management processes, including implementation of procurement procedures, drafting contracts with consultants (based on ISEAL templates) and maintaining project-related systems
• Carry out background research, review documents, and gather and analyse information using templates and tools such as Excel
• Liaise with select external project partners to share updates and ensure smooth project management
• Contribute to outreach to project stakeholders, Community Members, partners & event attendees, answering and directing queries and scheduling appointments and virtual/ in-person meetings

Evidensia platform, communication and events

• Monitor and track relevant research for the Evidensia platform
• Code and upload content and resources onto the Evidensia platform
• Create social media content for Evidensia channels with guidance from manager
• Support production of team reports and research products
• Coordinate event and meeting logistics, both virtual and in person, and preparation of agendas, communication with participants etc.
• Support event and meeting delivery, including technical support, taking notes, follow up actions and dissemination of post event communications
• Liaise with other teams within ISEAL and with ISEAL members to share new research and provide updates on latest work
• Support drafting and production of relevant newsletters, website articles, and reports

Research, analysis and writing

• Carry out background and desk research support as needed for the team on Evidensia or special research projects
• Proof-read, edit, design, and format documents in Word and Powerpoint, using ISEAL templates
• Prepare slides and other communication material for the team for meetings

Experience, Knowledge and Attributes

• Experience working in a policy or research/analysis support role, in a highly collaborative environment such as an international NGO
• Understanding of sustainability systems and how they work to help deliver change
• Experience and comfort working with subject matter of a niche or specialist nature, possibly gained through data analysis, project communications, and/or the review and analysis of data sets, academic research, technical reports, and policy documents
• Strong organisational skills, and experience with administration, meeting coordination, logistics, contracts, budget tracking, etc.
• Confidence in communications with peers and external partners, comfortable in public speaking situations (e.g. webinars, workshops etc)
• Good time management and ability to organise multiple simultaneous tasks efficiently with precision and strong attention to detail
• Excellent written & spoken English, with proven ability to write clearly and concisely on a range of topics
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fully remote, international environment, including regular international time-zone calls
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment with changing projects and working with multiple project leads
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, familiarity with virtual meeting tools (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom, etc), use of contact management databases (e.g. Salesforce)

Betknowmore UK is collaborating with partner organisations to work as part of a wider team, on the delivery of the Armed Forces Gambling Harms Support Network (AFGHSN). The work will include the provision of training and gambling awareness activities, helping to raise and address the subject of harmful gambling. Working and engaging with armed forces support and personnel services, individuals harmed by gambling, their wider network, stakeholders, and other relevant groups within the veteran and active armed forces communities, the aim is to create trained personnel able to support the work of the AFGHSN.​

A key aspect of the role will be working with individuals experiencing gambling harms, requiring an empathetic and compassionate approach and awareness of the complex issues being addressed. A robust management of safeguarding and safe working practices is essential.​

It is essential that you are based within one hour travelling time of London, as extensive travel to London and the UK is expected.

Role Purpose

An armed forces veteran or someone closely involved with the armed forces (a family member for example), the post holder will also have a unique insight on gambling harms, and their impact on health and wellbeing specifically within the military.

The Armed Forces Peer Aid Coordinator will initially prioritise engaging with veterans and military organisations to deliver the AFGHSN training programme, along with gambling awareness activities. The purpose is to upskill key armed forces personnel and those in connected communities, enabling and enhancing their knowledge, skills and confidence to address gambling harms. ​

The second key responsibility is to recruit, train and support Peer Supporters to deliver safe, effective support for individuals and their networks that have been harmed by gambling. It is expected that Peer Supporters will be individuals with ‘lived experience’ of gambling harm themselves or as an ‘affected other’.​

The post holder will work with the Head of Peer Support Services to support the development and maintenance of the systems and structure of the service, ensuring that governance and polices are implemented, safeguarding and safe working practices are strictly adhered to, and a clear understanding established of how the service integrates with other support and treatment networks.​

The AFGHSN Peer Aid team will ensure that the support and working relationships are safe and secure, and the health and wellbeing of all participants is intact. Peer Support will be in a befriending capacity and should be provided with a considered and transparent approach. Other support activities will be developed, such as group support and weekly meet ups.​

Stakeholder management is essential to the role, as is establishing and maintaining relationships within the AFGHSN, alongside confident communication skills to deliver presentations and other promotions within armed forces community, education and health centres to help grow and evolve the service.

Would you like a role where you can create systemic change in prison healthcare?

Listen to Families is an innovative new service to improve prison healthcare by involving families and carers more proactively in the process. A pilot project - the first of its kind - has been running in London for around 18 months. It seeks to create mechanisms and opportunities for families to be heard and influence how healthcare services are delivered and developed.

The service listens to the views and experiences of families, feeds that back to the NHS and providers, makes recommendations about where improvements could be made, and works with them to co-produce solutions with people who have lived experience.

This role holder will set up a similar pilot project in four prisons in the South East – HMPs Elmley, Downview, Huntercombe and Aylesbury. This is an opportunity for someone to join and shape the delivery of the project from the day one.

We're looking for:

• A good understanding of service user engagement practices and methodologies.
• Understanding of the importance of professional boundaries and the complex/vulnerable nature of our service users.
• Knowledge and understanding of the diverse needs of prisoners and their families, including those from marginalised communities.
• Experience of service user involvement with diverse groups, ideally including people who have been affected by the criminal justice system.
