Community Programmes Coordinator Jobs in Westminster, Greater London
We’re looking for a dynamic, creative and caring Community Coordinator to join our team. You’ll be primarily responsible for managing our programme of community activities, events and therapies at our wellbeing hub and garden in Camden.
You’ll be helping to provide a place where people can find belonging and get support navigating life, as we continue to develop the Hub from its roots as a mental health day centre into an accessible, thriving community wellbeing hub.
About Us
Likewise is an innovative social care and mental health charity working at the heart of the Camden community to support individuals experiencing loneliness, isolation and social exclusion.
Putting relationships first, we help people navigate life practically and emotionally, feeling a sense of belonging and acceptance.
At Likewise our culture is all about being human together. More human organisations do more human work. We put a lot into having authentic relationships, work hard to support each other’s sense of belonging and love learning together through the work we do.
Our three strands of work are:
- Community – building spaces where people feel safe to be themselves, and feel a sense of belonging, connectedness and acceptance
- 1-to-1 Support – flexible, person-centred support to meet the complexity a person experiences in their day-to-day life, whether at home or out in the community
- Shared Learning – providing experiential learning and formal training opportunities that support personal wellbeing and skills development, primarily through our volunteer and placement student programmes.
We’re also trying to influence change in the local health and care system so that organisations and services become more human, adaptable and responsive to people’s lives.
About the Community Hub
The Likewise Community Hub offers a safe space for people to explore a range of wellbeing activities and events, whilst creating opportunity for connection, relationship, belonging and support.
Our Community Hub and Garden is open to all with a particular focus on people who may feel lonely or socially isolated through mental ill health. It’s a place to access therapies, groups and activities supporting belonging and wellbeing. The hub is both a place to meaningfully contribute, and to feel supported, upholding the principle that we all have needs and we all have something to offer.
Flexibility
We believe in everyone’s intrinsic motivation to do their best work and trust each other to manage working time in the way that best serves the work we’re doing. Everyone is free to structure working hours and time in a way that both suits their life and their professional role. Everyone wants to get the most from both.
Bring your whole self to work: It’s all welcome
Our hope is that every person who joins our community – whether as a staff member, client, volunteer or supporter – can feel safe to be themselves and our commitment is to creating working spaces and relationships where this is possible.
We’re passionate about creating a workplace that promotes and values diversity, inclusion and belonging. Organisations that are diverse in age, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical and mental health, ethnicity and perspective are vital to our communities.
We’re all learners and leaders
We are committed to our own learning, growth and development. We value being able to sit with the discomfort of being outside our comfort zone, engage in the diverse experiences of our work, and bring a learning attitude to everything we do.
We all need to be able to tap into our own leadership, take responsibility for finding the potential in ourselves and others, and have the courage, commitment and care to develop that potential.
About You

About Bite Back 2030
We’re surrounded by junk food. From the moment we're born, every second of every day, children are being targeted. Giant companies manipulate them with colourful, cuddly, clever marketing, deceive them with packaging claims and pump products at them that are full of junk. It's become the cultural wallpaper. Now, it risks endangering the health of a generation.
In the UK, nearly a third of children aged 2-15 face a higher risk of food-related ill health in their futures. The good news is, it's preventable. And we're biting back.
Bite Back is a youth activist movement challenging a food system that's been set up to fool us all by:
1) Calling out the manipulation of the junk food giants.
2) Demanding higher standards from food marketing and from everyday food itself.
3) Mobilising and equipping young people in the fight for better food.
We do all this so we can bite back against a global epidemic of food-related ill health.
About Bite Back in Schools
Bite Back has delivered our youth social action programme — Bite Back in Schools— to over 120 schools over the last two years. Working with secondary schools, we have supported over 2,000 11-14 year olds to plan and deliver social action projects to prioritise child health by improving their school food. This could be by making nutritious and sustainable food the norm by increasing the flow of healthy options in their canteens, or by redesigning the school food experience to put healthy options in the spotlight.
With funding awarded from the #iWill Fund, we are recruiting a brilliant cohort of schools who will join the programme in September 2024. Our programme model combines an assembly delivered by a Bite Back young ambassador, five hours of curriculum time sessions for a whole year group, and our ever-popular and impactful School Food Champions (SFC) extra-curricular club. About FareShare
FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to nearly 9,500 frontline charities and community groups.
The food we redistribute is nutritious and good to eat. It reaches charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Every week we provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people.
About FareShare Go
FareShare and the Irish social enterprise FoodCloud have been working together since 2016 in a partnership designed to help UK retailers address the issue of edible surplus food they may have within their stores. This innovative partnership, known as FareShare Go, brings together a technology platform and FareShare’s knowledge of the UK charity food redistribution market. Using this App we are connecting charities with edible surplus foods. Initially this scheme has been working with Tesco, with a view to roll this service out to all retailers across the UK & Ireland in the longer term. Since launching the scheme last year we have already connected over 7,500 charities with over 2,700 stores.
The role
As Community Coordinator, your role will focus on the growth and sustainability of the FareShare Go programme, through maximising relationships and adding value to create the best experience for our charity community. - Sustainability and Compliance: You will work with your Regional Manager and team to identify stores where re-engagement activities are needed to improve charity coverage and charity compliance. You will work to maximise the amount of food collected by charities with lower levels of compliance. You will also be responsible for undertaking food safety reviews with charities to ensure compliance.
- Retailer Engagement: You will play a key role in maintaining strong retailer relationships across your region. You will take an active role in any meet and greets with retailers, where required. Plus, you will be responsible for maintaining regular contact with the relevant retail stakeholders in your region, sensitively dealing with any issues in a professional manner, as and when they arise.
- FareShare Network Engagement: We aim to become 'oneFareShare’. These roles are an integral part of our FareShare network and you will partner closely with the Regional Centre(s) in your areas.
