About the role
The London Library is looking for a Reception Supervisor to be responsible for the efficient running of the Library’s Reception ensuring an excellent customer service experience is provided to members of, and visitors to, the Library throughout our opening hours.
The role includes answering questions about membership and services in person, by phone and email, giving tours to prospective members and assisting with membership processing and administration.
This is a brand-new role for the Library, with a potential to grow and develop. It will join our busy Member Services department and will manage our small team of Membership Assistants who cover the main entrance reception desk.
Liaising closely with the Membership and Marketing departments, the role will ensure that Reception staff are aware of current member offers and other activities relevant to the recruitment and retention of members.
About you
Pleasant, approachable, welcoming, helpful, and responsive even under pressure, you will have proven experience of supervising staff that provide excellent customer service in a customer-service environment, preferably in the charity, cultural or Not For Profit sector.
You will have exceptional inter-personal and communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and courteously, face to face, by telephone or email.
Your successful performance management experience will ensure that you can lead and contribute effectively to the team and be able to organise your own and others work and time effectively.
Being flexible, willing to turn a hand to whatever needs doing on occasion, whilst being patient, resilient and with a good-humoured approach to problem-solving is essential.
You enjoy meeting and developing relationships with people and have a proven track record of defusing challenging situations.

We have had a community vet clinic on site at our historic Northwest London shelter since 1925. Through our modern, well equipped veterinary clinic we provide a range of preventative veterinary treatments free of charge, and without judgment, to those who are unable to afford it. We also carry out a wide range of surgeries and treatments in order to prepare the Mayhew animals in our care for rehoming.

Our Clinic operates 7-days per week and open to the public Monday to Saturday. Our Head RVN works 35 hours per week, 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. From time to time to we require extra cover on weekends and bank holidays, and out of office hours in the event of an emergency. A share of the extremely quiet, on-call rota is required, this averages about five nights a month which is paid as overtime,

What you'll be doing
We are looking for a talented individual with a passion for working with people and experience of co-ordinating events. You will be providing maternity leave cover while the Executive Director is on a short (four month) maternity leave. There will be a cross-over at the beginning of the contract and end of the contract with the Executive Director, who will also be available for monthly keeping in touch days while on maternity leave. You will be working alongside two Projects Managers and also get to know our dedicated and friendly board of trustees and freelance consultants. You will mainly be responsible for supporting two key events for the National Pro Bono Centre, which will take place in London:
- The Commercial Litigation Forum (CLF) reception, to be held in mid-October, and
- Pro Bono Week, which will be held from 4 to 8 November 2024.
For the CLF Reception, you will be working closely with the Board and Chair of the CLF and a small group of stakeholders to deliver a large-scale reception in London involving speeches and networking. For Pro Bono Week, you will be working with the Chair of Pro Bono Week and a committee to deliver two or three events during the week and provide support for others who will be organising events during that week.

Introduction to role
We are seeking a Venue & Buildings Manager to help provide effective stewardship and management of our wonderful and busy Grade II* listed church building and room hire business.
Inspire Saint James Clerkenwell is a Church of England church with two services (11am and 4pm) and a congregation of around 200 adults and 80 children. The congregation is vibrant and diverse and passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus.
A large proportion of the church’s income is generated by hiring out the crypt, church and accompanying spaces to external clients. Our ability to rent out these spaces supports the church’s broader mission and helps maintain the building for future generations. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the building and the room hire business and see that the work they do supports and facilitates the ministry of the church. They will ensure that the resources we have are best utilised and that health and safety and legal obligations are fulfilled in relation to the building. This is a client facing role, where you are required to provide a professional service to all who visit the church and the variety of clients looking to use the venue as an event space.

4. General Terms:
Location: The post will be based in the office at Inspire St James Church, EC1R 0EA, but we are open to hybrid working arrangements.
Hours: This role is provisionally 40 hours per week but we are open to discussing the possibility of reduced hours, job-shares, flexible start and finish times or compressed hours.

About the Role
Reporting to our Finance and Commercial Director, you will be working to build revenue from the venue hire operation for the Craft Council's Gallery, situated in Islington.
With your great client relationship building skills, you will be responsible for maximising the commercial use of the venue, dealing with all event enquiries, and giving excellent client guidance. You will be dealing with all external clients, existing and new, which will include agencies, corporate partners, charities and other organisations.
All the events will be of the highest quality, with the beautiful space within this historic building being offered with the commitment to realise its full potential. By overseeing all sales, co-ordinating the diary, optimising income received and building relationships, you will ensure the venue becomes a key and competitive player within the exclusive venues of London.
This is about the ability to manage the whole process and deliver against key performance indicators in terms of commercial maximisation and usage, building relationships, managing a team and ensuring the great experience and service received makes clients want to come back time and time again.
The postholder will:
- Be responsible for generating a profitable income stream for a newly launched commercial space in the heart of Islington just off Angel tube station
