About the role
We are the largest membership body for voluntary organisations in England. The needs of communities are diverse and ever-changing. This means the role charities play, and what they need, constantly evolve.
We hold a wealth of data. We need our data to become meaningful insight that helps tell the story of our members and the sector. Both to aid internal strategic decision making and to influence external audiences.
The insight lead will be integral to realising this ambition ‒ combining our analytical and sector research with our internal data. They will establish NCVO’s Insight Hub which will house the highest quality data and insight, and be respected and valued by external stakeholders.
We’re already revered for our Almanac and other research projects, which the insight lead will further expand. They will also develop the strategy, review our research programme, and embed a culture of using insights across the organisation.
This is a dual role. The insight lead will act as a champion for the voice of the customer internally – ensuring business decisions and strategic priorities are based on insight, and that we’re collecting and managing data in the most compliant way.
They will also take a strong external leadership approach ‒ looking for partners, technologies, AI solutions and funding opportunities so we can strengthen what we know about the sector, and how we report and share information. They will review our existing approach to research and harness opportunities from our unique perspective.
Equity, diversity and inclusion
NCVO is fully committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in our sector.
We want this to be reflected in the diversity of the people who work with us. We welcome submissions from people from all backgrounds and identities.
As part of our commitment to employing disabled people, all disabled candidates who meet the minimum requirement for all competencies on the person specification will be guaranteed an interview.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a pre-interview task and will have one week to complete the exercise. Interview questions will be shared in advance.
If you have access needs or require reasonable adjustments as part of the recruitment process, please email us.

Community Action Redbridge is a local infrastructure organisation working to support strong and resilient communities where people lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. We are a small, friendly team based in central Ilford - just 20 minutes by train from Liverpool Street station.
The healthy communities programme aims to find new ways to promote health and address inequalities in Redbridge using community development and health creation practice.
Over the past year, our team of outreach workers and community development practitioners have engaged over 4,000 residents, helping local people build and share knowledge about health, encouraging people to take control over their wellbeing, and exploring what can improve health and wellbeing in Redbridge.
Through our activities, we have identified two communities in the borough experiencing significant inequity – the Roma community and people living in Loxford ward – along with key priority areas for developing community action initiatives.
Programme Overview 2024 - 2025
Over the next year, we will work alongside local people from the identified communities to build on their strengths and take action for improved health and wellbeing. We will achieve this by supporting local people to establish a monthly community network to:
-
Consider the future they want for themselves and their communities,
-
Discuss issues and agree collective priorities,
-
Share ideas and problem-solve issues, and
-
Take practical action towards realising the future they want to see.
Through this network, we will share information about local services, groups, and activities, and offer training and support for local people to upskill and take the lead with confidence.
We will also lead the development of a Loxford neighbourhood forum where residents, community groups, voluntary sector, health (e.g., GP practices), education and social care services can come together to make connections, work together on what matters to local people, and address health and wellbeing needs in the area.
Finally, we have been re-commissioned by the Public Health department of Redbridge Council to continue delivering our TB Awareness project, raising awareness amongst communities who are at high risk of TB.
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of projects within the Healthy Communities Programme, which includes overseeing the team and providing support for community action initiatives.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about the power of community, with experience supporting inclusive community development and participation to drive change. Nightingale Hammerson is an independent charity and a leading specialist in the care of older people. We have served the Jewish community since 1840. We have two care homes, Nightingale House in Clapham and Hammerson House in East Finchley.
Hammerson House, Wohl Campus is a modern 116 bedded home near East Finchley Tube station, with residential, nursing, dementia, respite, and palliative care services.
The home offers a warm and comfortable environment, with personalised care that centralises the needs of the residents, with on-site therapists, dieticians, and a wealth of activities for residents to enjoy.
Hammerson House has been rated as 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in its first year of operation.
The Role
Are you deeply driven to help others? Do you have the desire to do this in a creative and personal manner? Being an engagement lead may well be the job you have been looking for.
It is a human need to engage with the world and with each other in a meaningful way. But what does this engagement look like? There are as many answers to that question as there are people in the world. For those who are older and disabled it is a great challenge to maintain the relationships and activities that have supported them through life. As engagement leads at Hammerson House it is our challenge to help them do so and, taking a person centred approach, results in a wide and ever shifting variety of activities and individual interventions for our residents. We are a large and innovative organisation that is always trying to develop new ways to foster community and connect our residents with what matters to them.
We are specifically looking for a new member of the team to work with our residents living with dementia and while this does present particular challenges the rewards are also particularly high.
This is a job of tremendous variety and possibilities and requires individuals who have the energy, people skills and logistical know-how to bring the right ideas to fruition. Experience of working in care is not a necessity and we would welcome candidates with a diverse range of people-facing experiences and those with creative backgrounds. Experience of supporting people with dementia or other neurological conditions would be desirable.
