Bexley Food Alliance Project Coordinator

The Bexley Food Alliance is a new network which was funded by the GLA to work towards taking pressure off the emergency food aid services and providing increased financial support to Bexley residents. This network has now expanded and aims to build a collaborative network of agencies that can increase fairer access to healthy, nutritious and culturally appropriate food, as well as any additional support residents might need. We are looking for a Project Coordinator to take over the day-to-day running of this network (see below for a brief description). This is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to take on a part-time, one-year project, perhaps as a stepping stone into something more significant, or perhaps you’re returning to work or changing careers. This is an opportunity to be at the start of an exciting, innovative partnership project, shaping a network and forming strong alliances with various agencies. 

You will work closely with the VCS within Bexley to build the capacity and capabilities of local groups, provide partnership/networking opportunities that enable them to carry out their own objectives effectively and offer high quality services.

You will work flexibly, applying initiative to provide consistent and seamless support to organisations.  You will support across a variety of charity development but focus on food partnerships and wraparound support to provide more holistic support.

Above all, everything we do is to strengthen our local Voluntary and Community Sector.

Key Duties:

• Build and promote positive working relationships between VCS groups and organisations, statutory partners, commissioners and funders.
• Work with a wide range of delivery partners and other key stakeholders to maximise the use of community resources and ensure opportunities are maximised.
• Undertake community and outreach work – particularly to parts of the borough where the VCS voice is less heard.
• Encourage and support groups to seek funding from a range of sources including contracts and grants and provide the necessary support.
• Use our database to keep well maintained records of support given, funding achieved as a result of our support, case studies and outcomes, brief summary reports for monitoring and development purposes.
• To continuously engage in a mapping process, highlighting existing providers and supporting the start-up of new services.
• To organise and facilitate network meetings bringing organisations together to tackle food poverty and offer increased support with additional needs such as financial, physical and mental health wellbeing.
• To build relationships with various organisations, offering diverse support to increase collaboration, new offers and increased support.
• To work closely with the Local Authority to support policy change.
• To build relationships and network outside of the borough to bring in good practice and successful initiatives.
• To attend any relevant training and/or workshops that support the development of the network.
• To increase knowledge and understanding of food poverty and the cost-of-living crisis in general as well as grants and funding opportunities.
• Attend staff meetings, and training as required.
• Identify, report, and monitor any safeguarding concerns in accordance with the latest local procedures relating to the appropriate service.
• To support and work closely with all the teams within BVSC.
•  To comply with, and share responsibility for ensuring the implementation of, BVSC policies and procedures and key legislation such as GDPR and Safeguarding.
• Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be assigned from time to time including travel throughout the borough to attend events, occasionally on evenings/weekends, meet with volunteers and organisations.

These are the normal duties which are required of the position; however, we do require that all staff be flexible and may be required to perform other duties to ensure the efficient running of services. 

Please note that the base for this role is split between the Engine House, Bexley, and Bexley Civic Offices. In addition, the post will involve occasional working from various venues across the borough.

An average day as Bexley Food Alliance Project Coordinator is below. Your Line Manager will support your development throughout the process.

• Continue to develop relationships with the voluntary sector and local organisations to find out more about what services they currently offer, if they have scope/capacity to expand their offer and what support they might need.
• Encourage and support collaborative projects between organisations within Bexley.
• Research and keep up to date with current developments, grants and opportunities for voluntary organisations and charities relevant to Bexley.
•  Network with various organisations offering support, learning opportunities and guidance in running the network.
• Continue to work on an agenda for regular, local networking sessions which you would facilitate (with support if needed).
•  Engage with and attend all relevant training offered by GLA as part of the Food Roots 2 Programme as well as any other relevant training.
• Familiarise yourself with services in Bexley and the current needs of local residents and the voluntary sector.

Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point.

About the role 

This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. We have nearly tripled in size and income since we started operating in April 2020 and we anticipate that this strong growth will continue for the duration of our next strategic period. 

We are looking for someone with excellent people skills to play a key role in developing and piloting an approach to support people to engage with and use our on-line Social Care early legal help tool. Initially, this project will be focused on how to support carers who have multiple barriers to accessing the support they and the person they care for need.

We want to pilot a network of Peer Navigators who will act as an interface between the tool and people who are most underserved by social care and advice services and experience intersectionality of barriers. The role would particularly suit someone who has experience of the social care system as a family carer or disabled person and/or someone who has experienced barriers to accessing services due to other protected characteristics. 

The role is new and will initially focus on working within our place-based Hubs of Croydon and Gloucestershire. The role will require a creative person who can work in partnership with other members of the team, people with lived experience of social care support and social care organisations.  They will need to develop a set of policies and procedures for the delivery of the project and recruit, train and supervise the Peer Navigators.

To be a success in this role, you should be an excellent team worker, communicator, proactive, flexible, excellent people skills, highly organised and able to meet deadlines. You should also have a thorough understanding of co-production.

Responsibilities 

• With Hubs manager, Hub team members and people with lived experience – refine the aims of the project and identify priorities 

• Develop and implement a project plan for delivery of the project 

• Develop a role description for the Peer Navigators 

• Identify and test different options for advertising and recruiting Peer Navigators 

• Train Peer Navigators in the Care Act and use of the chatbot 

• Develop guidance on how people can seek advice about their employment and benefit status in relation to fulfilling the role 

• Develop and run an appropriate supervision process to ensure good quality support is offered 

• Arrange further training as chatbot develops 

• Set up and run Peer Navigator team meetings to ensure they feel supported, and we learn from their experiences 

• Devise a monitoring and evaluation framework and set up proformas for peer navigators to capture outcomes

4. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E):

· Develop robust Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track project progress, outcomes, and impact.

5. Reporting and Communication:

The role

You will need a strong understanding of the movement ecology in the UK, especially in Scotland, and understand the unique role different actors play in bringing about change.

Based in Scotland and with a good understanding of the Scottish movement ecology, you will be able to map and bring together groups, organisations, stakeholder and constituents to campaign on fossil fuels. You will strengthen partnerships and scope new allies whilst helping to drive forward campaigning interventions and mobilising groups around key moments throughout 2024 and beyond. You will work closely with key campaigning organisations in Scotland and internally with Uplifts Campaigns and Movement Building team to support network building activities across the UK.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

• Building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, groups and organisations, across Scotland, and the rest of the UK, including with key allies campaigning to end oil and gas extraction.
• Coordinate network building and coalition activities to help strengthen the network of groups organising around a phase out of fossil fuels in the UK.
• Provide campaigning support and advice to groups wanting to take action on north sea oil and gas expansion and a just transition.
• Develop campaign resources and network communications in collaboration with key partners and networks.
• Help design and deliver mobilisations and actions across Scotland and support the execution of campaign strategies and interventions in collaboration with partners.
• Be the first point of contact for groups and organisations in Scotland - holding the central coordination function for Uplift.

• Work with the Campaigns and Movement Building team to help strengthen the networks of groups taking action on fossil fuel campaigns across the UK - particularly during nationwide mobilisations or campaign moments. 
• Be an active member of the Campaigns and Movement building team - participating in and helping to shape campaign and network strategies whilst contributing to a healthy team and organisational culture.
• Represent Uplift externally at events, coalition meetings and network gatherings. Carry out media spokesperson activities where appropriate.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have: 

• Experience in a similar or related role.
• Be based in Scotland and have a good working knowledge of the wider movement ecology in Scotland.
• A track record of guiding and supporting effective campaigning coalitions.
• A good understanding of campaign strategy and an ability to know when to apply a range of tactics based on target, audience and the campaign cycle.
• Previous experience of movement building, including an understanding of the principles of mobilising and organising and an appreciation of the role different actors (the grassroots, NGOs, unions etc) play in social change.

We are seeking a Fundraising Coordinator (Individual Giving) to join our small but dynamic Fundraising team.

The role requires excellent donor care and stewardship skills. All forms of communication will be required including the proactive use of digital channels such as the website and social media platforms.

The Individual Giving Fundraiser will play a vital role in increasing income from our existing supporters. You will support donor acquisition as well as taking the lead on retention of our supporters across multiple channels including cash appeals, regular giving, lottery and in celebration giving. The role will also support the Head of Income in the delivery of a legacy and major donor program.

You will develop and deliver excellent stewardship programmes that drive retention by deepening audience understanding of the challenges that people affected by cleft face and the impact that their donations make. Using data and insight, you’ll deliver compelling campaigns, with people affected by cleft right at the centre. The hours for this role will be worked according to a rolling shift pattern between 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Location: Scope's office bases are London office (Here East, E15 2GW) or Scope's Leeds office (LS1 5SH) but the role will involve working remotely for most of the time.

We do this through media, communications and digital skills training delivered in partnership with our media and creative industry partners and by matching media industry volunteers with charities looking for help with content creation and other comms support. At the same time, we are working with hundreds of young people and talent from under-represented communities to give them the skills, access and mentoring to break into the media.

About the Roles

We are looking for two new people to join the Media Trust team as Project Coordinators. We have two positions available, one which can be a full-time or a part-time role, and one which is only available part-time.

These positions are exciting opportunities for people who are passionate about social justice and empowering charities to drive social change through their communications and digital campaigns. As a Circles Coordinator you will make a real difference to preventing sexual abuse and sexual violence. This varied and rewarding role means working with people who have sexually harmed, a team of local volunteers and public protection colleagues. Join our dedicated regional team of 12 staff and 180 volunteers working towards the vision of ‘No More Victims’ of sexual abuse.

About Circles South West

We are an award winning independent charity providing services that prevent sexual re-offending by people who have sexually harmed, as well as support services for non-offending partners, family and friends impacted.  Our core service is Circles of Support and Accountability; a ‘Circle’ is a small group of local volunteers who assist the safe integration of an individual who has sexually harmed, meeting with them over a year or more. Working closely with responsible statutory agencies we provide a complementary risk management approach, making communities safer. Informed by our practice expertise, our training and consultancy for professionals is designed to enhance skills, knowledge and understanding in order that they can more effectively engage with people who sexually harm and contribute more widely to the prevention of sexual abuse.

About You

With experience of working with adults convicted of sexual offences, you understand how local communities can support risk management and be committed to the safe integration in the community of people who have sexually harmed. You will be skilled in the management and support of volunteers, the critical success factor for Circles. You will assess referrals, coordinate Circles, review progress and share relevant information with police and probation.

Role Purpose

Grandmentors is an innovative volunteering project where more mature volunteers use their lifetime of skills and experience to support and mentor under supported young people (predominantly aged 17-25) with experience of the care system. These young people often need a guiding hand and role model to support them to find work, continue their education or begin training – giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives. Volunteers meet with a young person regularly to boost their confidence and work towards goals, which are unique to each young person.

The postholder will be leading on the Grandmentors project within the London Borough of Lewisham, working closely with Lewisham Council and our other Grandmentors projects nationally. The Project Coordinator role is part of a job share, meaning you will be working closely with another Project Coordinator who has already been working on the project for a year. The post holder will attend Council team meetings to integrate Grandmentors into other Council services as well as other local community and council-led events. They will recruit volunteers locally from the community, and within surrounding areas where referred young people live. Young people are referred directly to Volunteering Matters through the Leaving Care team at Lewisham Council. The post holder with work with the young people to match them with a volunteer mentor and support the ongoing relationship. This can include some evening and weekend work, which is within our flexible working culture and policy.

The postholder will be expected to maintain relationships whilst developing new ones, and will be working to achieve match and referral targets. A flexible and adaptable approach is important, working with volunteers and young people to achieve positive outcomes. The postholder will ensure the volunteers are trained and supported to help the young people achieve their goals, and also to support young people who may have varied complex challenges relating to for example, physical and mental health, new parenthood, English as an additional language and barriers faced through cultural heritage.

Betknowmore UK is collaborating with partner organisations to work as part of a wider team, on the delivery of the Armed Forces Gambling Harms Support Network (AFGHSN). The work will include the provision of training and gambling awareness activities, helping to raise and address the subject of harmful gambling. Working and engaging with armed forces support and personnel services, individuals harmed by gambling, their wider network, stakeholders, and other relevant groups within the veteran and active armed forces communities, the aim is to create trained personnel able to support the work of the AFGHSN.​

A key aspect of the role will be working with individuals experiencing gambling harms, requiring an empathetic and compassionate approach and awareness of the complex issues being addressed. A robust management of safeguarding and safe working practices is essential.​

It is essential that you are based within one hour travelling time of London, as extensive travel to London and the UK is expected.

Role Purpose

An armed forces veteran or someone closely involved with the armed forces (a family member for example), the post holder will also have a unique insight on gambling harms, and their impact on health and wellbeing specifically within the military.

The Armed Forces Peer Aid Coordinator will initially prioritise engaging with veterans and military organisations to deliver the AFGHSN training programme, along with gambling awareness activities. The purpose is to upskill key armed forces personnel and those in connected communities, enabling and enhancing their knowledge, skills and confidence to address gambling harms. ​

The second key responsibility is to recruit, train and support Peer Supporters to deliver safe, effective support for individuals and their networks that have been harmed by gambling. It is expected that Peer Supporters will be individuals with ‘lived experience’ of gambling harm themselves or as an ‘affected other’.​

The post holder will work with the Head of Peer Support Services to support the development and maintenance of the systems and structure of the service, ensuring that governance and polices are implemented, safeguarding and safe working practices are strictly adhered to, and a clear understanding established of how the service integrates with other support and treatment networks.​

The AFGHSN Peer Aid team will ensure that the support and working relationships are safe and secure, and the health and wellbeing of all participants is intact. Peer Support will be in a befriending capacity and should be provided with a considered and transparent approach. Other support activities will be developed, such as group support and weekly meet ups.​

Stakeholder management is essential to the role, as is establishing and maintaining relationships within the AFGHSN, alongside confident communication skills to deliver presentations and other promotions within armed forces community, education and health centres to help grow and evolve the service.
