What will I be doing?
Our amazing Activity Volunteers play a key role in supporting blind children and young people to take part in a variety of activities. These range from sports, creative (singing, performing, art), audiobook club and day trips. Our activities are designed for blind young people to meet new friends, gain confidence, learn new skills/sports, and become more independent. The skills you have developed in your career and personal life will be invaluable to our young people.

Who are you?
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked before as full training will be provided. The Education and Skills Development Group (ESDEG) was established by local refugee leaders and social care professionals who identified critical gaps in services for people from refugee and marginalised communities. Main purpose of the role
To provide telephone friendship service to veterans (and their partners) in their own homes.
Key focus
- To provide telephone friendship and companionship which is appropriate, and person centred. You will need the use of your own telephone /mobile.
- The use of a quiet safe space so you can concentrate on the call and maintain confidentiality.
- Provide telephone support to alleviate loneliness and social isolation and help to build confidence.

Are you a proactive fundraiser and looking to support a small charity? - Knowledge of corporate fundraising techniques including Charity of the Year, sponsorship, donations, marketing would be an advantage

- It is an indoor role at one site – your home, but occasionally meetings are held in other offices and in the office of the charity or online

About the Charity: Burning Nights CRPS Support is a UK wide charity that works to improve life for those living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), their families, loved ones, carers and friends. As a charity we raise awareness about the condition amongst the public, health and legal professionals by providing CRPS awareness sessions so that patients can be diagnosed quicker to enable treatment to start more rapidly.

EDI Volunteer Role - EDI Activity Group Member
We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, volunteers, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Join us today so that together we can stop MS.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team. As a volunteer you will play a crucial part in helping us deliver our EDI work. By attending four monthly meetings you will provide advice, feedback, guidance and personal opinion on our work. You will act as a bridge between our EDI activity group and our EDI reference group.
The EDI reference group is a group of people affected by MS who helped develop our EDI strategy and now help support our work towards its delivery. The EDI activity group is a staff group who have responsibility and accountability for the delivery of our EDI strategy.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are at the heart of our work. We work with volunteers, professionals and people with lived experience of MS to guide and direct our approach to EDI.
This role is a home-based role, which will require attending four online monthly meetings, and up to an hour of pre-reading before each one. One of these meetings will be between 12-5pm.
What the role involves
- Attending four monthly, online meetings
- Reading documents and preparing any feedback in advance
- Providing constructive and honest feedback on our ways of working, processes and future initiatives
- Representing the MS community with lived experience
- Taking comprehensive meeting notes, to share information between the EDI reference and activity groups
- Regular 1:1 catch ups with our EDI programme manager
What you need for this role
- Confidence to speak and input into meetings
- Experience of attending and reporting in meetings
- Passion for the MS Society and for EDI in our work
- Good IT skills
- Awareness of EDI in a broader context – provide challenge outside of lived experience

In this volunteer role, you’ll help drive change for people with MS in your community and develop your networking and influencing skills along the way.
As a campaigner you’ll bring your own ideas, local knowledge and personal experience to your campaigns. You’ll make decisions about your own campaign activities and collaborate with other campaigners in your area.
This role is flexible and aims to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities and the campaigning you’d like to do. This is an ongoing role.
