Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

We work with older people to:

• Encourage active and independent living

• Reduce isolation and loneliness

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health

• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.
3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the wider team to provide a hands-on program that builds on older people's strengths and potential.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the Head of Programme.
5. Budget Management: Ensure the program operates within budget constraints.
6. Member Engagement: Support the planning of the core program with input from elder members and the wider team.
7. Recruitment and Support: Recruit and support new and existing members (service users).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Delivery

• Planning and Oversight: Ensure that all service output aligns with KLS' vision, mission, values, and charitable objectives. Organize and promote one-off activities throughout the year.
• Transport Management: Manage the transport offer, including route planning and pick-up schedules.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate activity records, registers, and casework notes for the core team.
• Outreach and Support: Conduct outreach work with older people in the community, oversee home visits, and manage a small caseload.

2. Staff and Volunteer Management

• Recruitment and Line Management: Recruit and manage the Outreach and Support Workers, Lunch Club Cook, and relevant social activities workers and volunteers.
• Performance Management: Use performance management and quality systems to monitor and evaluate the project's work and processes.

3. Relationships, Communication, and Networks

• Member Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with elder members.
• Communication: Oversee communication for the Core Programme, including newsletters, activities calendar, annual reports, and social media platforms.
• Meetings: Attend meetings on behalf of the Core Programme as required.

4. Finance

• Budget Management: Manage project areas to budget and maintain financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme.

5. Other Duties

• Professional Development: Participate in regular management supervision and annual appraisal. Identify job-related development and training needs.
• Professional Conduct: Professionally undertake roles, maintaining a high-quality standard of work in line with KLS's aims, values, and ethos.

The Head of Finance will manage the high-performing finance team consisting of a Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant and Finance Business Partner. Sitting in the Business and Resources Directorate the team are instrumental to the successful running of the RCR. This is a new role working closely with the Head of Finance to support NFCC to manage our contracts and written agreements from drafting to completion. The role will work to support the wider staff team. 

What you will be doing: 

• Drafting and/or amending and negotiating contracts and other written agreements, such as Data Sharing Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements/Non-Disclosure Agreements, taking into consideration any relevant funding terms and conditions.

About this role

The role of the Finance and Payroll Manager is to support the Development and Finance teams to manage and report on restricted income, as well as to manage monthly in-house payroll under the guidance of the Head of Finance. This involves ensuring that we are maximising the use of restricted funding, and that money is spent in line with donors’ wishes and that staff are paid accurately and on time each month. The Finance and Payroll Manager will work within a small Finance team under the supervision of the Head of Finance. They will work closely with the Joint ED, wider Senior Management Team, Head of Development and budget holders throughout the organisation.

They will support the Head of Finance with annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting as well as with the production of the monthly management accounts. They will support the Development team in making grant applications and develop restricted grant budgets for newly secured grants for integration into the organisational budget; they will meet regularly with the Development team and budget holders to review restricted project spend. They will produce reports for funders working in conjunction with our Development Team and casework teams. The Finance and Payroll Manager will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement of the finance systems, processes and grant management tools to ensure they continue to be fit for purpose.

Contract and location

The role is a full-time, permanent position with an annual salary of £50,571 per annum less any required deductions for Income Tax and National Insurance.

1. Background

The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) promotes evidence-informed equitable, inclusive and sustainable development. We support the generation and effective use of high-quality evidence to inform decision-making and improve the lives of people living in poverty in low- and middle-income countries (L&MICs). We provide guidance and support to produce impact evaluations and associated formative evaluations; systematic reviews and syntheses, evidence gap maps and support for using that evidence in decision-making and capacity development. Our work encompasses a wide range of topics, sectors and themes, including but not limited to health, nutrition, education, agriculture, governance, microfinance, climate change, humanitarian interventions, and social protection. 3ie is registered as a non-governmental organization in the United States. The Contracts and Compliance Officer will support 3ie’s efforts in contract, compliance, safeguarding and risk management guidance and oversight with an emphasis on providing direct billable compliance support to the FCDO Research Commissioning Centre (RCC). The Officer will work closely with various teams across the organization including project, business development, finance, and senior management teams to develop and implement compliance processes, tools, resources, and best practices, provide quality control, and build staff capacity in compliance and risk management. The Contracts and Compliance Officer will report directly to the Cost and Pricing Controller with informal reporting to the RCC Sr. Programme Manager.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 FCDO RCC Contracting, Compliance and Risk Management

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and grants for sub awardees delivering work under the RCC.
• Support strategies and systems to respond to FCDO and/or RCC project team requests for new research commissions, project related questions, and general advisory services providing information and interpretation on a broad range of topics including contract and subcontracting regulations, compliance procedures, management, and risk mitigation.
• Provide safeguarding leadership, including implementation of best practices for the RCC, review of downstream partner policies and practices, audit of safeguarding procedures, etc.

• Serve as the primary resource and subject matter expert on FCDO contracts, risk, and compliance to ensure quality control and guidance in order to maintain consistent approaches and implement best practices across 3ie’s FCDO portfolio.
• Stay updated on changes in FCDO and other donor rules, regulations, and industry wide compliance best practices.
• Support the development and implementation of 3ie internal policies and procedures to enhance contract and grant compliance. This includes but is not limited to reviewing, analyzing, and making recommendations to current policies, processes, and internal controls to ensure effective and efficient identification and mitigation of noncompliance and risks.

2.3 Business Development

• Review tenders, assist with development of questions and/or responses to tends, and provide ad hoc proposal development needs ensuring consistency with corporate policies and strategies, relevant regulations, and FCDO requirements.
• Support review and negotiation process for new FCDO awards.

3. Qualifications and Skills

• Undergraduate degree in relevant field
• 3-5 years (Officer) or 5+ years (Sr. Officer) of experience in direct contract administration or compliance, preferably with FCDO and/or a mix of bilateral (USAID, GIZ, NORAD), multilateral (UN, World Bank), and foundations (BMGF, GAVI) in the international development context
• Strong knowledge and understanding of FCDO and/or other bilateral and multilateral rules, regulations, and policies required
• Experience with a wide variety of grants, contracts, and subcontract types and methodologies (commercial contracts, accountable grants, framework agreements, hybrid agreements/contracts)
• Experience managing payment by results or performance-based contracts.
• Experience developing and delivering participatory trainings on compliance, regulations, and policies
• Demonstrated experience in conducting internal compliance audits preferred
• Experience with various business development processes including cost and pricing, recruitment, contract negotiations, and/or writing preferred

Ways of Working:

This new role will lead in the development of the financial resilience and overall vision of the organisation to achieve a strong, effective and ethical finance function.

Working closely with the core staff team, Treasurer and the Finance team, it will develop and maintain financial policies, systems and procedures to enable smooth financial management and transparency.

This role will lead on financial reporting and financial oversight, working with the Management Group and the Treasurer/Trustee team to enable financial compliance and sustainability for Platform. 

As part of building more resilient financial systems, this role will lead and develop our fundraising function, including reviewing and building the systems, processes and policies that enable an effective long-term fundraising strategy.

Details:

Hours: 4 days: 32 hours per week based on a 40 hour week, flexible hours possible.

Contract: Permanent, subject to 6 months probation.

Salary: Baseline salary as of March 2024 is £42,248 pro rata  (£33,791 at 4 days a week) and is subject to Platform’s Socially Just Waging System.

Duties and responsibilities:

Work with the Finance Team, People and Process Manager, relevant trustees and the wider staff team including project budget holders to deliver:

• Financial management 

  • Strategic Development 

    • Design and implement systems to enable sustainable financial strategy, integrating finance and fundraising, including budgeting, income projections

CFAB supports children on the move between the UK and other countries and children who are separated from their family in another country. The complexities of migration and international separation can make many of these children particularly hard to support and particularly vulnerable to abuse and exploitation. Key responsibilities:

Finance

· Code and process purchase invoices, staff expenses and obtain authorisation of expenditure as per financial procedures manual.

· Save copies of the Approval Max pdf’s in the Purchase folder.

· Prepare sales invoices to customers on the receipt of instruction from the social work team and email copy of invoice to customers.

· Liaise with the social work team to ensure sales invoice requests are generated for all Opportunities raised in Salesforce.

· Update Salesforce to reflect processed sales invoices.

· Maintain records of sales and purchase invoices in accordance with CFAB’s policies and procedures

· Banking of cheques received.

· Perform credit control duties according to the financial procedures manual.

· Handle and process all petty cash claims in accordance with CFAB policy, and ensure these are correctly authorised and reconcile the petty cash tin monthly.

· Maintain the files of supplier contracts including assisting the Finance Manager to review contracts periodically.

· Maintain the Local Authority Finance contacts spreadsheet.

· Assist the Finance Manager with the maintenance of the charity asset register.

· Assisting the Finance Manager to ensure suppliers and expenses are paid on time.

· Assist the Finance Manager with monthly reconciliations (e.g. ensure that all oncosts from ISW’s are recharged to Local Authorities accordingly).

Human Resources
