Regional Finance Manager - (Fixed  term for 12 months – maternity cover)

Location: Northwest of the UK with a requirement of 2 days per week in the Manchester City Centre office

Starting salary for this position is £40,416 per annum (plus contributory pension)

About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role:

The Regional Finance Manager will deliver strategic financial business partnering services in support of a portfolio of country programmes. The aim pf the role is to ensure compliance with both internal and donor requirements, optimise financial efficiency, and ultimately support the regions programmatic goals. You will be instrumental in providing financial analysis, strategic guidance, and technical support to the region, promoting transparency, integrity, accountability, and effective financial management practices. Your responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and reporting, analysis and review, compliance, risk management, capacity building, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.

About you:

The successful candidate will have significant financial experience in either commercial or NGO sectors. The role will involve proactively managing accounting tasks, including proposal development, budget monitoring and reporting, while ensuring compliance with internal financial controls and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for establishing effective working relationships across diverse teams and cultures. Additionally, advanced Excel proficiency is required to add value to business processes and reporting. A minimum ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent part qualification is required for this role.

We're seeking an individual with exceptional analytical skills who can interpret complex financial data and communicate findings clearly to both finance and non-finance personnel. The role demands initiative, proactive problem-solving, and a solution-oriented approach, along with the ability to travel to remote and insecure locations at short notice. If you're committed to maintaining high-quality standards, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and excel at prioritising tasks to meet deadlines, we encourage you to apply!
