Contract: 12 Months, Fixed Term Contract, Full time, Maternity Cover

About the Team:
The Global Assurance Team reports directly to the Chief Executive of WaterAid UK, with an independent reporting line to the Audit and Risk Committee. The team is made up of the following functions: Legal and Governance, Data Protection, Fundraising Compliance, Global Ethical Checks, and Internal Audit. The team is line managed by the Global Assurance Director.

About the Role:
You will play a critical role in managing risk at WaterAid by helping to deliver WaterAid's due diligence process, and ensuring that WaterAid partners, suppliers and contractors adhere to our Global Ethical Standards. You will provide a service to management and support the implementation and embedding of our ethical check process.
This enables us to:

• work with partners, suppliers and contractors who align with WaterAid values
• be globally compliant with our ethical check standards

In this role, you'll :
Ethical Research and Management

• You will lead on the management and implementation of our ethical check and due diligence process to support WaterAid's overall risk management.
• This includes:
• Researching third party suppliers, partners and donors to ensure they are aligned with WaterAid global ethical standards and do not pose unacceptable reputational risk
• Managing and developing the ethical check process across the WaterAid federation
• Continuing to embed WaterAid's Global Ethical Standards by ensuring that the ethical check process is understood and applied consistently across the WaterAid Federation

Compliance

• Keeping up to date with knowledge and understanding of the Data Protection Act, GDPR and ICO guidelines, as well as any other relevant legislation and guidelines and their impact on fundraising and charity law.
• Embedding best practice in all areas related to compliance, ensuring the effectiveness and accuracy of processes in accordance with the Data Protection Act, GDPR and other applicable legislation or regulation (alongside WaterAid's Fundraising Compliance Manager and the Data Protection Manager).

Relationship/stakeholder management and ways of working

• Collaborate with WaterAid teams in the UK and globally, including communications and fundraising teams, advocacy and country programme teams, working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure WaterAid is delivering a robust due diligence process.
• Maintain productive working relationships across WaterAid to enable an effective due diligence process and delivery of research requirements.

About You:

• Educated to degree-level/equivalent educational standard, or significant equivalent work experience
• Strong understanding of the role of research in can play in protecting the reputation and future proofing WaterAid
• Good knowledge and applied understanding of GDPR implications, ethical checks and other related compliance issues
• Experience maintaining confidentiality and ensuring information is recorded in compliance with GDPR
• Experience using a range of research methodologies and tools to complete due diligence checks, and manage WaterAid's resources for ethical and reputational risk
• Very strong research and analytical skills, including ability to produce detailed and insightful research
• Ability to analyse complex information and communicate clearly and credibly deliver simply for a variety of audiences in written reports, presentations and meetings
• Stakeholder management knowhow to build and maintain great working relationships at all levels, and influence, internally and externally

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:

• Experience of working in an international organisation
• Experience of working with fundraising functions
• Understanding of overseas development issues
• Experience of managing volunteers

Role Purpose

The Community Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover) role will be a critical piece of our Community Programmes team, which provides support to founders at every stage of their startup journey. The Community Programme offering includes a roster of events including panels, masterclasses and workshops, as well as mentoring and coaching opportunities, and peer-to-peer engagement opportunities. We work with an exciting range of partners across the private and third sectors to connect underrepresented founders to networks and capital that will help launch and grow their mission-driven businesses.

We are looking for a driven, process-oriented self-starter who is interested in a role that will expose them to a variety of activities across the Community portfolio. As the Community Engagement Manager, you’ll work directly with the Co-Head of Programmes to ensure the systems we need are in place to support the team to deliver their support offering and that we are constantly learning and evolving our programme offering from Founder feedback and engagement.

You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering programmes and events for the graduate community, as well as contribute to our community engagement strategy – helping us to set up new aspects of our programmes and collaborating with programme managers and coordinators across the portfolio to contribute to a more engaged community of entrepreneurs.

Responsibilities

Graduate Community Engagement

• Maintain the community engagement strategy for enhanced engagement between founders and a more cohesive founder journey across all stages
•  Maintain the end-to-end design and management of the founder experience in the graduate community platform (Circle)
• Helping founders to widen their networks and facilitate connections that can provide critical support and direction via our graduate community platform
• Work collaboratively across the Programmes team to ensure entrepreneurs who engage with Hatch are connected to the best programmes, resources and offers for them
• Maintaining a list of partnership perks for the  community
• Understanding both founder needs and partnership opportunities and coordinate the creation of  relevant resources, content and perks to meet these
• Attend ecosystem events and speak on behalf of Hatch, and engage the wider team in doing the same
• Helping to ensure consistent relationship management and communication with partner organisations

Programme delivery and development

• Reviewing existing insights and conducting research to refine existing and new peer-to-peer programmes for Hatch founders and graduates
• Engaging mentors, experts and facilitators, where applicable, to support with the leadership of peer-to-peer programmes 
• Planning, facilitating and evaluating networking opportunities for founders to build and foster  community engagement
• Developing and managing  support  opportunities for our graduates to increase their access to capital, contracts, and connections

• Managing the content strategy and maintenance of the Resource Hub, to ensure accessibility of content for founders outside of a cohort programme

Systems and administration

• Maintaining the KPI tracking system to record programme founder participation, feedback and learning outcomes
• Feeding into the development of a new CRM system to help us better manage our founder and partner relationships
• Supporting the development and maintenance of our calendar of activities, showcasing engagement opportunities to our founders and the public
• Reviewing and suggesting improvements and innovations  to systems and implementing system changes

Monitoring and evaluation

• Supporting the collection and collation of feedback from volunteers, mentors and founders in order to monitor and improve participant experience
• Working with the Fundraising team to report on Community Programme KPIs, anecdotal feedback, and to support with the generation of case studies, for funder reports and fundraising pitches
• Collecting and analysing relevant data for the resources webpage, graduate community platform, as well as keeping up to date with any relevant tech updates and training required for monitoring the data

Other 

• Gaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of Hatch’s work, priorities and future plans and acting as a spokesperson for the charity when required
• Representing Hatch externally at speaking  and networking opportunities

We are looking for Senior Supporter Acquisition Manager to join our Fundraising directorate and lead a brilliant team to develop and implement a range of supporter acquisition marketing programmes and to achieve the growth ambitions of our Fundraising strategy.

The Supporter Acquisition team is responsible for all marketing to attract new supporters across a large portfolio of appeals/products and media.  We are looking for someone to join us who has significant expertise with a wide range of marketing channels and can really add value to large well-established programmes with their experience, knowledge and drive to continually improve, identify appropriate new opportunities and shape supporter acquisition programmes.

The role involves managing an experienced team of two managers and a co-ordinator, and leading relationships with a number of suppliers.  The marketing programmes currently include face-to-face fundraising (from stands in retail space or at expos/outdoor events), DRTV and other forms of advertising, print – door drops/partially addressed mail/inserts and payroll giving.  An important part of the role is developing advertising for the nation’s largest charity appeal, the Poppy Appeal each November.

Overview:

This unique and vital role has two key, linked, accountabilities.

Firstly, from a short-term and day-to-day perspective, this role will in effect be Financial Director of Street Child of Liberia (SCoL). Working alongside SCoL's national Finance Manager, the holder of this role will be fully accountable to the Country Director of SCoL, and relevant leaders within Street Child, for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of all key functions of SCoL's finance department.

Secondly, from a long-term development perspective, this position will take a lead in optimising all aspects of SCoL's finance capability - with the goal of developing a robust 'best in class' department with optimal systems, processes and structures and personnel in place at all levels.

Part 1: Role Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to lead improvements in the financial management of Street Child of Liberia (SCoL), a national education and child protection organisation with nationwide presence and annual budget of up to $1m. The role holder will also manage Street Child’s financial reporting and compliance requirements in delivering programmes in Liberia.

The role will have dual reporting lines to Street Child’s West Africa Regional Finance Manager and Street Child of Liberia’s Country Director, with oversight of Street Child of Liberia’s finance team, and a close working relationship with SCoL SMT and Street Child’s Monrovia based Programmes Manager and Freetown based Head of Sierra Leone / Liberia Programmes.

The role provides financial oversight of programmes in Liberia, facilitating accurate and timely donor reporting, strong budget management and excellent record keeping. Key aspects of this role include: the development and implementation of robust financial management and reporting systems; strengthening the control environment and record keeping; empowering programmes and leadership teams to have strong financial management and grant management capabilities. The role also serves as a link between Street Child of Liberia and Street Child UK, delivering monthly requisitions, annual budget information and other information as required.

Part 2: Key Responsibilities:

1) Development and implementation of robust financial management and reporting systems to facilitate accurate donor reporting, strong budget management and transparency for budgeting. (40%)

• Ensure that all staff are using the QuickBooks finance system in place at Street Child of Liberia to provide accurate and timely recording of transactions – providing training, review, support and direct input as needed.
• Ensure that all month end processes are carried out in a timely manner including month end closure processes, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and generating reports
• Providing reliable donor reports, Budget vs Actual reports to the Director and Programmes staff to facilitate good planning and anticipation of any changes needed to programmes delivery.
• Ensure that donor expenditure is recorded accurately and finance reports are of high quality with full supporting transaction listings reconciled to the finance system and delivered to deadlines in accordance donor requirements. Report on all costs incurred both at Street Child of Liberia and Street Child HQ.
• Preparation of all donor reports, working with Partner Finance teams and programmes staff as needed to ensure that they are delivered on time and with appropriate sign off.
• Lead donor due diligence and donor audits by provision of information required.
• Provide input as necessary for all donor budget proposals, ensuring that costs requested are complete and reasonable seek approval for all donor proposal budgets before they are submitted to donors
• Facilitate the year end audit, over-setting the end to end of the annual audit process.

2) Strengthening the control environment and record keeping (30%)

• Review and assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend changes and improvements as required , and review any improvements in internal controls recommended by auditors or donors.
• Based on these reviews, devise a delivery plan to ensure that improvements are met, and support the delivery of that plan.
• Strong financial procedures are in place to accompany all payments and improvements are made to the payments system including in particular justifying the use of cash and advances.
• Ensure appropriate bank & cash management procedures are in place and operating effectively, including bank reconciliations for all accounts, cash counts and cash transfers to field sites.
• Ensure robust procurement processes are in place and being followed, working with the procurement team to make any changes needed and ensure that all staff are clear on the required procurement process.
• Developing Financial management tools, including policies and procedures as required.
• Ensure that monthly requisitions (the process for requesting monthly transfers from HQ) are robust, evidence based and submitted on time each month.
• upcoming up with an annual budget, approved in accordance with SC budget timetable, working with the Senior West Africa Finance Manager to develop consistent templates to use in each template.
• Regularly advise and provide support on other issues as the need arises.

3) Participate in finance related meetings and initiatives for all SCoL programmes, providing budget and financial guidance, including provision of training to colleagues (10%)

Objective:

• To ensure the smooth-running of the programme with respect to its financial obligations

Benchmarks:

• Compliance with the organisational procedures; quality of budget monitoring; quality of the budgets drawn up; quality of financial reports for donors; anticipation of financial problems

Activities:

• Provide BVAs every month by the 10th of M+1 of all contracts.
• Plan and lead the BVA analysis meetings every month before the 15th.
• Ensure coherency between the programme budget and the donors' budgets.
• Conduct the monthly, bi-annual and annual accounts closing operations · Raise programme teams' awareness of contractual budget and financial obligations.
• Analyse donor guidelines and inform the teams about these procedures and their application.
• Train programme teams in internal budget and financial management procedures so as to ensure a realistic budget, accurate expenditure codification and robust budgetary steering.
• Draw up and monitor cost allocation tables for office and staff costs.
• Check the budgetary monitoring of the funding schedule · Substantiate the financial accounts with regard to local legislation. Monitor and organise internal and external audits, assume the role of the auditor's primary contact in liaison with head office.

4) Managing the finance team (10%)

• Train the finance team.
• Manage and lead the finance team, fix objectives and review progress.
• Set up communication and coordination mechanisms for the team.
• Manage contractual monitoring (leave, end of trial periods, etc.) of finance team members; if necessary, co-validate disciplinary procedures with Operations Manager.
• Oversee finance team's career development: define training needs and provide guidance on professional development.

5) A liaison and link with Street Child UK Finance team to enable management of operations in Liberia (10%)

• Develop the annual budget for Liberia, which includes costs budget, programmes costs, cash flow forecasting.
• Enter Street Child of Liberia costs on the HQ finance system (Aqilla) and ensure that all monthly transfers to Street Child of Liberia are fully accounted for and reconciled.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the HR Manager in providing efficient human resources support to a global workforce. This is a generalist role, part of a small team, responsible for the smooth running and administration of the HR function and activities. At present, WAGGGS has circa 60 employees based in the UK within both the London Head Office and home workers. There are also circa 60 employees based globally and managed remotely.

ABOUT YOU:

As a successful candidate, you will have a strong background in undertaking and overseeing a full range of HR activities including some of the following:

You will have a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships including working with employees remotely across a variety of time-zones.

The ideal candidate will have a ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, be highly organised, team-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, with knowledge of French or other languages desirable but not essential.
