Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Workshop

Overview

The workshop builds on previous introductions to ABCD and on the concept of
co-production. It revises the basics, provides an update on effective tools being shared in
the ABCD community, explains and expands on the ‘gapper’ role, and offers tips on
‘bridging the gap’ between individuals, groups, organisations and institutions.

This ABCD workshop includes: tips on mobilising and motivating; a detailed example of community mapping at ward level; the latest news on barriers and solutions to an ABCD approach to community building; the role of the ‘gapper’ in connecting community.

West Lancs CVS has just completed the first phase of a community mapping project (2017-18) in partnership with local institutions, charity organisations and community groups, in a ward that also has high levels of deprivation. We will be including successes stories, challenges and key learning points from this work in our workshop, and look forward to supporting your plans/ current projects with an up-to-date ABCD perspective.
