Overview

The workshop will provide a basic introduction to bookkeeping and financial procedures. It will be very hands on with each participant working on a case study to prepare their own set of accounts throughout the day. If you want to learn how to prepare the accounts of your charity and be more proficient in recording income and expenditure, book onto this workshop.

We have been training charity staff and individuals in bookkeeping for over 10 years to equip them with the necessary skills to be able to do their job better. You will get a lot out of the day and have the opportunity to contact us if you have further questions about how to implement what you have learnt.

What you will learn

  • Be able to maintain a basic set of books on excel or an accounting system
  • Know the basic good financial procedures relevant to their organisation.
  • Be able to prepare a basic set of Income and expenditure accounts and cashflow.
  • Understand what an invoice is how to create one
  • How to record income and receipts
  • The difference between profit and cash.
  • Have the confidence to prepare the monthly accounts at their organisation

Working with customers and suppliers

Allocating grants to projects

Financial governance procedures that fit with these such as cheque signatories, separation of duties, invoicing procedures, cash income, paying cash expenditure the pitfalls.

Wages and salaries processing

Pensions processing

Essential management reports to produce

Dealing with accruals and prepayments

Bank reconciliations

Preparation of a basic set of Income and Expenditure accounts and cashflow.

Who should attend the workshop?

Anyone responsible for  the administration or preparation of the finances within a charity or not for profit or community group and needs to understand the basics of how to prepare the accounts on a monthly basis
