Fastlaners Employability Programme

Overview

FASTLANERS LONDON: 2ND-12TH OCTOBER

Fastlaners is UpRising’s successful employability programme for 18 - 25 year olds looking to kick start their career. Young people take part in an immersive 8 day programme, building their employability skills through a series of interactive workshops, mock interviews with professionals, panel events and networking with professional staff. As well as this, participants develop their confidence, self-esteem, resilience and teamwork skills through a range of personal development sessions and activities. All of these sessions are designed to enable young people to identify career goals and develop the skills, networks, knowledge and confidence to secure fulfilling employment.

It doesn’t end there! After 8 day programme, participants are matched to a peer mentor and receive 3-6 months mentoring support as well as 1:1 support from UpRising to ensure they stay on track to get that dream job. Peer mentors are matched based on their professional interests and inspire young people to stay positive, motivated and support their mentees to gain employment in their chosen sector.

Our impact: Last year, 89% participants found an opportunity within 6 months of participating on Fastlaners and 100% of all young people increased in confidence.

This October we will be visiting major charity, public and private sector organisations including Comic Releif, The Civil Service, Bauer Media and Milkround.

Eligibility

Unemployed, under- employed or unhappy within your current job? Want a break? Fastlaners is for 18- 25 year olds who are passionate about developing themselves to get their dream job but don't currently feel they have all the skills to network with the right people, present themselves in interviews or write the perfect CV/ covering letter. Whatever it is that's holding you back, Fastlaners will support you to overcome those barriers.There are 20 spaces in London! 

To apply, you need to be:
- Aged between 18 - 25 years old.
- Live in either London and able to travel around the city.
- Unemployed, or working in a zero hours contract or working under 16 hours per week.
- Looking to kickstart your career and are ready for work.
- Available between 2nd - 12th October.

*There are no minimum educational requirements or work experience.
