Do you want to know more about social care?
Are you a disabled person looking for work or a non-disabled person looking to work with disabled people?
Or would you just like more control over any care you receive?
This FREE training course is designed to teach you about direct payments, support brokerage and disability rights. Through presentations, role plays and exercises we will give you a perfect grounding in the key subjects involved in support plans and being a support broker.
The course includes full training on how to perform the roles of a support broker. This includes important professional skills such as negotiation, communication, organisation, research and financial management. A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded* and references provided after the course.
At the end of the four session training course you will attend a three month placement (which will be one day a week or more), where you will get the chance to further develop your brokerage skills and gain experience. The placement will involve assisting a support planning or support brokerage program at CHOICE IN HACKNEY or another organisation of your choice*.
If you want to know more about how care can be delivered, how direct payments can work and the role of a broker, then this course is for you.
The four six hour training sessions will be held all on the following dates:
Session 1: Monday 13th March 2017
Session 2: Wednesday 15th March 2017
Session 3: Monday 20th March 2017
Session 4: Monday 3rd April 2017
Training will take place at the Graeae Theatre in Hoxton:
Graeae Theatre Company
138 Kingsland Road

E2 8DY
Both the course and placement are FREE of charge, but a £50 deposit is required to assure us that you will attend all four sessions. It will be fully refunded on completion of the course.
This peer led project is run by disabled trainers for disabled people. The venue we have chosen is fully accessible, and we are happy to discuss further access needs.
*The Certificate of Achievement will be awarded upon completion of the placement.
*Placement organisations will need to be approved by the trainers.
