This one-day workshop is an essential introduction for anyone interested in a career in the humanitarian sector. You will hear first hand experiences from individuals who have been involved in humanitarianism, learn about the nature of humanitarian relief, and look at the skills you have to bring to the sector.
You will also have the chance to go through the application process for the humanitarian sector, learning about where to apply, and what kind of skills are in demand. HR professionals from the humanitarian sector will help you adapt your CV and existing skills to match humanitarian language. The course will also advise you on further routes of study to inform your career as an aid worker.

Course structure:
Registration is from 9.00am, with the course starting at 9.15am and concluding by 5.00pm. The day is broken up into four sessions, separated by a lunch break and coffee/ tea breaks in the morning and afternoon.
Participants will be actively encouraged to participate in classroom discussions and group work. The trainer will draw on both theoretical and practical knowledge in order to make the experience and learning applicable to the realities of the humanitarian sector.

Who should attend?
This course is designed for those with a general understanding of the humanitarian sector and an interest in a humanitarian career. Those with no previous experience or knowledge in the sector are also welcome to attend, but are expected to complete some pre-reading.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
The minimum age for this event is 16.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
The nearest service is Vauxhall Station (Victoria line), approximately 5 minutes' walk. Oval or Kennington Stations (Northern Line) are approximately 10 minutes’ walk. Buses 2 /3 / 36 / 44 / 59 /77 / 88 / 159/ 185 / 196/ 322 / 344 stop nearby.
What's the refund policy?
-For bookings cancelled two or more weeks before a course, administrative charges will apply. Applicants will be entitled to a refund of 85% of the course fees paid, or if places are available will be offered a transfer of 90% of the course fees paid onto the next instance of the course.
-For bookings cancelled one to ten working days* before a course begins, 25% of the course fee will be refunded (*during normal UK working days, Monday-Friday and working hours 9am-5pm).
-For bookings cancelled less than 24 hours (working days only) before a course, or after a course has started, no refund will provided.
-If the applicant chooses to transfer to another course and then cancels their booking a second time, neither a further transfer nor a refund will be offered.
-The refund must be claimed within two months from the cancelled course start date.
-Please note that unfortunately we are only able to cover our local bank charges and not the recipient’s bank charges when we make refunds.
-Refunds may take up to 30 days.
