Are you an expert Project or Programme Manager? Do you have excellent stakeholder management skills? Do you want to work with one of the UK’s leading housing and homelessness charities?

About you

You will be an experienced Programme or Project Manager, with a flexible approach. You will also have:

• Experience of delivering large, complex technical rollouts involving multiple technologies and locations

• An understanding of different project management methodologies, with experience of delivering projects using Agile and Waterfall

• A working knowledge of programme management principles

• Demonstrable experience of managing risk and budgets, ideally within Projects and/or Programmes

• Excellent stakeholder management skills at all levels, including Board level and a customer-facing outlook

• Familiarity with technology used in retail, Electronic Point of Sale Systems, would be advantageous but is not essential

You will also need the ability to work flexibly in response to changing priorities, with the requirement to work on-call if required.

About the role and team

Responsible for managing the delivery of a full technology refresh for our entire retail shop estate, you will be overseeing a major cross-divisional piece of work. The aim of this work is to deliver improved stability and security for Shelter Retail and support the maximisation of revenue streams both in-store and online. The programme will bring the shops’ technology in line with our home and office-based locations, enhancing their inclusion in Shelter’s Fight for Home. Ultimately, you will be responsible for delivering and coordinating several projects to deliver tangible change in the technology provision for our shops.

This work will be supported by the wider Technology and Data team, responsible for developing and maintaining Shelter’s IT infrastructure and applications portfolio. Utilising high quality stakeholder management and an excellent customer service approach, the team supports the achievement of Shelter’s strategic priorities by enabling the adoption of new technologies and supporting data driven decision making and intelligent insight. Led by the Head of Business Enablement, the Programme Manager will play a crucial role in the success of the Technology and Data team over the next 12 months.

About Shelter

A home is a fundamental human need. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle daily with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, motivated individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time.

At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent. We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.

Apply to be part of our team and be the change you want to see in society.

We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. We are committed to offering fully flexible working to help all employees maintain work-life balance. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter does not accept unsolicited CVs from external recruitment agencies nor accept the fees associated with them.
