Job description

As a member of the marketing and communications team, you will be a proactive and creative marketing and communications professional who will provide marketing support for our income generating activities, working together with the Marketing and Communications Manager to help build brand engagement to increase local support and engagement for Katharine House.

The role is busy and varied and is responsible for helping to create and deliver compelling marketing and communications projects and activities. You will be experienced in using digital platforms and social media channels in a professional context. You will also comfortable using Adobe packages eg. Indesign and Photoshop and be confident in drafting copy for newsletters and marketing materials. You will have good interpersonal skills and enjoy working as part of a team.  If this sounds like you,please apply today.

Key responsibilities

1.Marketing and Promotion

  • Working with the Marketing and Communications Manager to support the delivery of annual marketing plans to promote hospice fundraising events and activities, and retail marketing;
  • Work with external suppliers to help co-ordinate our online advertising, external design, print and production to support income generation promotion and activities;
  • Promote fundraising events and activities through local social media distribution;
  • Distribute weekly and monthly copy to local media and village newsletters;
  • Draft press releases and other media articles, reports and statements.

2.Design and Copywriting

  • Design and create promotional and marketing content to support hospice income generation;
  • Design digital marketing content for social media, online print and the website;
  • Draft content for the e-news, hospice newsletters, website and social media;
  • Create marketing materials, social media content, newsletters, leaflets, banners and adverts;
  • Create posters and signage for fundraising events and activities;

3.Digital and social media

  • Day to day co-ordination of social media channels, creating content and responding to messages and comments to increase engagement;
  • Create and design digital content for social media and online advertising;
  • Schedule social media content, working together with the Marketing and Communications Manager to create a social media content plan to support marketing campaigns;
  • Filming and edit interviews with patients, staff and volunteers and provide video resources for events etc;
  • Creating promotional videos for fundraising events and activities.

4.Brand, images and storytelling

  • Gather and create compelling stories from patients, families, staff, volunteers and supporters for use in our marketing and communications;
  • Maintain the story and photo libraries ensuring consents are recorded and stored securely.

5.Monitoring and evaluation

  • Monitor press coverage and issue a round-up of articles to key contacts;
  • Update and evaluate marketing, website and social media analytics reports.

6.Research and insight

  • Stay informed of upcoming trends and developments;
  • Carry out administrative duties to ensure the successful operation of the Marketing and Communications team;
  • Source opportunities for local involvement and free advertisement;
  • Collate and input data for the monthly digital report.

7.Team working

  • Support the team as an effective team member, contributing to development through collaboration and proactively participating in progress reviews, team meetings and team building activities.
  • Promote and contribute to a co-operative working ethos with other KHH teams to maximise effective working throughout the charity and across the hospice.

8.Other Responsibilities

  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. As an employee, you are expected to follow the Hospice’s Safeguarding Policies and report any concerns in accordance with those policies;
  • Grow knowledge and ensure best practice with regard to relevant charity legislation;
  • Undertake other tasks reasonably requested by your line manager, as appropriate.
