Job description

About CleanupUK

We’re a small charity that brings communities together to create cleaner, connected and safer urban and rural neighbourhoods by tackling the litter problems where they live. Litter-picking brings people closer together, enables neighbours to meet one another other and helps create a greater sense of pride and community in local areas.

Historically, we have delivered litter-picking focussed community engagement projects in London and Birmingham. Our current focus is developing partnerships with community organisations across England to expand our reach and increase impact.

Our Team

We’re a friendly, home-based team who collaborate remotely and work independently to help support communities around the country to look after where they live. We’re a small team with large ambitions for the future and an aspiration to support real change in disadvantaged communities across the UK.

We are looking for someone to come and fit into our flexible way of working, who will bring their own initiative, experience and dynamism to the team.

Our work

We're working to build and grow a powerful movement of people helping to achieve a world where communities feel inspired and empowered to look after their own environment.

We achieve this by:

Supporting locally–led litter-picking: we provide an online community for groups to celebrate their achievements and connect with each other. We provide online advice and tools to help to get grassroots community litter-picking up and running and to help volunteers to sustain their activities

We are currently delivering our ‘Community Partnerships’ project, where we are focussing on setting up Cleanup hubs across England and working with local organisations to engage their local communities to improve their local environment.

Our approach is to collaborate with the litter-picking community and other community-based organisations; co-creating opportunities to work together and grow the movement of people working to create a litter-free local environment.
