Backed by our passionate scientists and supporters, we’re challenging the way people think about dementia, bringing together the people and organisations who can speed up progress, and investing in research to make life-changing breakthroughs possible.

We are the fastest growing medical research charity and have ambitious plans to continue growing in order to fund more vital dementia research. As Database Assistant you will play a crucial role in helping us reach our fundraising targets through the maintenance of the charity’s main database, Raisers Edge. You will have experience or a theoretical understanding of working with data and a CRM system and we are looking for someone who is keen to learn, has an excellent eye for detail, enjoys balancing multiple priorities, and most importantly, loves working with colleagues to deliver exceptional supporter experience and continuous improvements. You will have the ability to shape vital processes within a rapidly growing organisation that is putting data at the centre of its operations.

This role would suit a recent graduate or someone wishing to start a career in not-for-profit data management.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

  • Ensure the data from third party agencies and internal systems is accurately imported into the database according to the agreed schedules
  • Ensure the data imports are reconciled with agency reports to ensure accurate data in the database
  • Regularly review data quality queries and carry out corrections, such as merges and recodes, where necessary
  • Establish relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and help them resolve data issues and requests.
  • Support the Database Officer in ensuring third party agencies adhere to the file layout specifications
  • Periodically review procedural documents, updating and amending as necessary
  • Support the Database Officer in running a regular programme of work designed to enhance and validate the integrity and accuracy of data held within the database
  • Assist the Database Manager and Database Officer in improving business processes for the successful and efficient management of supporter data
  • Help oversee the Data Team ticketing system to ensure support requests are assigned to the correct person in the team
  • Provided first line support for requests received into the team’s ticketing system
  • Work with and assist your colleagues in the Database Team in the performance of their duties.
  • Other data management tasks from time to time as identified by the Database Manager

What we are looking for:

  • A-Levels (or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and/or large datasets
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation and its implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP’s/ Index Match)
  • Experience of working directly with or around a CRM System.
  • Proven ability to work to a high standard and with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience of internal stakeholder management.
  • A creative, positive and proactive approach to problem solving.
