Job description

Digital Communications Officer

Contract: Full Time, 37 hours per week

Duration of post: Fixed Term, initially 8 months but with possibility of extension

Salary: Grade 6 £27,511 - £32,817

Location: Based in Milton Keynes, currently working from home until October 2021

The Organisation

The Open University Students Association serves the interests of around 170,000 part-time and distance-learning students spread across the UK, continental Europe and beyond. Our role is to represent and support the interests of this vast and extremely diverse community of students. The OU Students Association is an independent registered charity, governed by elected student leaders. Our small team of dedicated, professional staff provide the vital support needed to deliver excellent services across the breadth of our student population.

The Job

In this exciting role, the postholder will work to develop and deliver digital communication objectives that enhance the Association’s reputation by raising awareness of our achievements, activities and services available to Open University students. This is one of two digital communications officer posts. This role has particular responsibility for the Association’s magazine WordPress platform and scheduling on our social media platforms, as well as supporting and developing the day-to-day communication activity undertaken by the team. 

The Person

We’re looking for a flexible and multi-skilled digital communications professional to join our small and dedicated team. 

This person will also help to inspire and enable staff and elected student leaders to make best use of digital communications channels and to create attractive appropriate and engaging content. They will help to increase the reach and engagement of content, events and opportunities to a diverse student population.

You should have experience in working in a busy communications team and enjoy exploring a range of communications channels. A passion for social media and web authoring are also a big plus.
