Job description

With a total income (2019) of circa £12m from Community and Events Fundraising activity, the charity needs an excellent strategist and people manager to lead the team with inspiration and momentum, to deliver these impressive figures once again in 2020.

You will report to the Assistant Director of Fundraising and lead and line manage a team of 45. You will also need to work closely with other staff in the team and department. You will be contributing to the overall success of the Fundraising department.

Job specification:

  • Develop and lead the strategy for Community & Events fundraising, establishing clear action plans and leading the team to deliver the strategy to meet income targets
  • Manage the Community & Events budget, to bring in over £12.5m with a spend of £3m, managing reporting and reforecasting as required
  • Provide excellent line management to 6 direct reports and have overall responsibility for 45 staff within the Community & Events unit
  • You will work with staff across teams and with senior management to ensure the charity are able to take advantage of opportunities presented
  • Ensure a supporter-centric approach to fundraising, using insight to drive activities
  • Create a culture of innovation, both in terms of creating new products and initiatives and of continual improvement of working practices and processes

Person specification

  • Significant experience of community and events fundraising
  • Manager level experience of developing junior staff members
  • Experience of financial and budget management including planning, developing, forecasting, setting, monitoring, reviewing and reporting on budgets
  • Significant project management experience
  • Experience of digital marketing principles
