UK Sail Training (ASTO) is the national charity that supports and promotes the impact of UK Sail Training Charities, enabling them to work effectively with and deliver personal development to young people and people with additional needs. We support over 30 member organisations who operate more than 50 Sail Training vessels.
We're looking for an Administrator who is an excellent organiser to join our small home-based team. You'll play a central role in the smooth running of the charity, working alongside the General Manager, providing comprehensive administrative support for the distribution of grants, a programme of events, annual membership processes, member services and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintaining and monitoring mainly digital and some physical administrative records and files ensuring they are up to date and easily accessible.
Administering access to and tracking of online processes (e.g. online training and DBS checks) and liaising with providers. Training on DBS processes can be provided.
Coordinating logistics for events including venue bookings, liaising with suppliers and managing invitations and responses.
Providing accurate information to the Bookkeeper to enable timely financial processing.
Posting job adverts for member organisations and making updates to our website.
Responding to phone and email queries and providing timely, accurate information and signposting elsewhere as necessary.
Booking team travel and accommodation for events.
Ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Providing administrative support for annual and one-off projects.
These are the normal duties required from the position. However, as we’re a small charity, all staff need to be flexible and will be required from time to time to perform other duties required for the efficient running of the charity.
About you:
Knowledge / Experience:
Relevant experience in administration, business management or a related field and able to adapt that to a small organisation.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, anticipate and prioritise deadlines and manage time effectively.
Proficiency in using Microsoft packages for creating and editing documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
Some knowledge of Sail Training, the RYA Scheme or vessel coding would be an advantage but is not essential.
Skills:
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of your work.
A confident communicator with effective interpersonal skills, you’ll have the ability to interact with members and stakeholders at all levels.
Numerate and able to write concise, clear emails and documents.
Approach to work:
Able to travel for events with potential overnights away for 10 to 20 days per year.
Able to work independently, show initiative and take responsibility for tasks.
Adaptable and flexible.
Important information
Homeworking:
You will need to have the space at home for an office area and reliable broadband. We will provide the office equipment and IT.
You will need to undergo a basic DBS check if you’re selected. You need to be based in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.

The Community Fundraiser plays a vital role in fostering and expanding our network of individual givers and community fundraisers. The position is responsible for:
- Developing and managing relationships with our supporters.
- Signing SafeLives up to a programme of fundraising events.
- Maintaining and growing our supporter base.
- Responding to fundraising opportunities from individuals and corporates.
We will occasionally require you to support with organising events for our high-net-worth individuals. The role is managed by our Trusts and Grants Manager. It was a new role in 2022 and the successful candidate will build on the foundations that have been set over the last year and a half.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity and proactivity to the role – thinking outside the box and finding new ways to grow our supporter base and market our opportunities. You will be the perfect balance of engaging and motivational and a rigorous planning coordinator with exceptional attention to detail. You will help us reach new supporters, through events and fundraising, and communicate our key messages in a way that encourages people to support our work.

Role Overview:
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the effective implementation of Board policies, contributing to the development and seamless operation of AMUSF. Working remotely, you will have the autonomy to lead initiatives independently.
Key Responsibilities:
· Promotion and Outreach: Foster the visibility of AMUSF among upholsterers, soft furnishers, and the broader public. Implement strategic marketing initiatives to establish AMUSF membership as a hallmark of professional competence.
· Digital Presence: Oversee the maintenance of the website and member database, ensuring they are consistently updated. Manage the distribution of monthly newsletters, maintaining relevance and quality.
· Development Initiatives: Proactively identify and implement strategies for the continuous development of AMUSF, considering improved services, effective communication, and advocacy opportunities. Establish a strong connection with members through visits and collaborative efforts.
· Membership Acquisition and Quality Assurance: Develop and implement efficient systems for handling inquiries from prospective members. Drive membership acquisition with the aim to double membership in the next 2 years. Oversee the assessment of new and existing members, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
· Complaints Management: Take charge of the complaints system, ensuring timely responses, informal resolutions, and formal assessments when necessary. Navigate diplomatically through communication with both complainants and members.
· Training provision: Collaborate closely with the Director of Training to support and maintain the training centre qualification system as well as the training assessment process ensuring alignment with our high standards.
· Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations, including task delegation and handling of routine activities. This role is supported by an administrative position.
· Committee Participation and Board Management: Actively participate in relevant committee meetings, evaluating the ongoing value of AMUSF's representation. Serve as the secretary to the Board, ensuring efficient organization and follow-up actions.
· Event Coordination: Arrange and oversee the Annual General Meeting and Ordinary General Meeting, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
