The UK’s leading interfaith organisation is looking for a passionate, motivated, and organised individual to join our Education & Learning Team. This role is funded by our generous donors, to help shape our team’s response to the markedly increased need for our work in schools since 7th October. The conflict in the Middle East, alongside many other controversial issues, has led to increased levels of hate incidents and widespread division in schools. Teachers are often shutting down conversations meaning many students aren’t equipped with the social and emotional skills they need to thrive in an increasingly complex and divided modern world.
If you share our vision, of a UK where diversity is celebrated – starting with children’s education in faith, belief, culture and identity – consider applying to join our Education and Learning team.
The F&BF’s Education & Learning team worked with over 6,000 students in 2023 through our Award-Winning skills-based workshops, School Linking and other creative projects. This role is an exciting opportunity to be a trailblazer in innovating and growing our education offer across the West Midlands, including: rebuilding our strong pre-Pandemic presence, and contributing to the team’s approach to monitoring, evaluation and learning so we can continue adapting and fine tuning our offer. Establishing and building on local networks, the Programmes Coordinator will engage key local stakeholders, including schools, with F&BFs highly regarded dialogue and skills-based programming.
This role involves…
- Researching trends in the UK’s education sector, and building processes to analyse trends in enquiries and need for our work, shaping the team’s response to trends especially in relation to the conflict in the Middle East.
- Working independently to build strong and dynamic relationships with schools, other education bodies and faith communities across the West Midlands.
- Building and inspiring our online network of educationalists, sharing stories from our work on the ground, and the impact of our partnership with schools and teachers.
- Designing and delivering programmes which give young people the skills and confidence they need to collaborate with anybody, regardless of their faith, belief, culture, or background.
- Further developing interfaith practice and opportunities in partnership with schools, sixth forms and colleges.
- Recruiting and managing volunteers.
- Connecting and collaborating with the wider F&BF Team.
- Creating innovative and efficient processes for measuring the impact of our vital work.
To do this, you will need to…
- Have excellent communication skills, and be confident interacting with anyone, no matter their background or level of influence.
- Be an effective relationship builder who can confidently build and maintain key partnerships.
- Bring experience of designing and implementing marketing and administrative systems
- Be passionate about working with and empowering young people.
- Have experience of planning and facilitating workshops with people from different backgrounds.
- Be willing to work flexibly with some evening and weekend work.

SINCE 9/11 are seeking a dynamic and driven leader to manage the charity through its next phase of development.
The Charity Director will be responsible for managing the charity on a day to day basis throughout its next phase of development: developing and implementing the strategy for the organisation, building its capability to deliver this strategy through fundraising activities and putting in place a small team; driving awareness of the SINCE 9/11 Education Programme among key audiences and overseeing the financial administration of the charity, in line with the goals set out by the charity trustees.
CHARITY DIRECTOR ROLE OVERVIEW
This is an important and exciting time for the charity. More than 20 years after the horrific events of 9/11, with our acclaimed SINCE 9/11 education programmes for schools (developed by the world no.1 UCL Institute of Education) and our strategy and vision for the future both now in place, we want to drive the charity even further forward.
Our work remains as important as ever, teaching young people across the UK – who weren’t even born in September 2001 – about the events, causes and consequences of 9/11 and subsequent terrorist atrocities.
In a world where extremism and terrorism pose a huge risk, both to life and to the pluralist ideals of democratic societies, SINCE 9/11 seeks to lead the way in educating young people and steering society towards a more peaceful and tolerant future. In order to do so, we are now seeking a talented, driven and engaging leader who can take our charity to the next level. We believe that we have a high-quality programme to take into schools and other settings working with young people; our challenge now is to ensure that our programme reaches as many schools as possible.
We therefore need a leader who is confident and creative in building relationships with schools, academy trusts, local authorities, subject associations and teaching unions; someone who is familiar with the national education environment. Supported by a high-profile and committed board, our new director will be tasked with putting all of their energy into building those relationships and ensuring that we have a step change in the number of young people accessing our programme.
We believe that doing so will bring us long term financial sustainability and thus the ability to grow and develop our programmes further. In the tough operating environment, with schools currently facing many challenges of their own, we know this will be no easy task. The Board will be ready and willing to support you in any way that we can, as we recognise that appointing a dynamic, committed director is crucial to a continuing successful future for SINCE 9/11.

Since its creation in 1987 Education for Health has been providing education and training to Healthcare Professionals. We provide a range of Higher Education courses from Certificate to a full master’s programme along with a growing range of Essentials, Refreshers and webinars across a range of long term conditions.
During the pandemic we created a new model of delivery – an interactive blended online learning model (IBOL), enabling people to access their learning at a time and a pace that suits them. This is supplemented by live interactive webinars and recorded lectures.
This is a pivotal time for the charity; the pandemic had an adverse impact on our income as weary healthcare professionals had no time or energy to devote to training. However, it provided us with an ideal opportunity to refresh our products using state of the art authoring tools and develop a new Learning Management System (LMS). The result was an ambitious automation programme, organisational restructure and functional realignment.
We also used the time to review our market and create new products. By bringing together sales, marketing, communications and customer focus into one directorate, we believe it will create a better coherence to enable us to achieve our ambitious plans. We have started the new financial year on a good footing with a plan in place to grow income from £1.5million to £1.8million this financial year, with similar growth each year to 2025. We are confident there is considerable potential to raise the profile of the charity to maximise impact and growth by extending our customer base geographically and widening our reach through strategic partnerships, campaigns, and working with more opinion leaders.
As a member of the Executive Team, the Director of Finance and Organisational Performance will use their experience, ideas, and knowledge of finance and organisational performance to lead Education for Health’s Finance, Systems, Information, Data and People functions to fulfil our business plan, supporting healthcare professionals to improve health outcomes.
