Why we want you
Sick, injured and homeless pets have relied on Blue Cross for help since 1897. Each year, thousands of dogs, cats, small pets and horses turn to the charity’s animal hospitals, clinics and rehoming services for treatment and support.
Our Volunteer Education Speakers provide an informative and influential service by talking to children in Primary schools and youth groups about responsible pet ownership and dog safety which enables us to improve the lives of thousands of pets. This role is for speakers who will visit and deliver talks to Primary schools and youth groups in their local area. We would love you to join us and help us help more pets in need
What you will be doing
- Having an informal chat with the team prior to selection
- Training online via e-learning to become an Education speaker
- Contacting Primary schools using details we have given you to arrange all the details for your talks
- Visiting Primary school and youth groups in your local area
- Delivering interactive presentations and fun talks to groups of children at Primary schools during the day, and youth groups such as Brownies and Cubs during the evening.
- Delivering a minimum of one talk per half school term
- Using Assemble, our online volunteering system to accept talk requests, tell us how they went and keep in touch with us
The skills you need
- To be a confident public speaker; happy to deliver PowerPoint presentations and talk to sometimes large numbers of children and young people in schools and youth groups
- To be self-motivated and happy to organise talks from details we have given you
- To be computer literate as you will need to complete your training online, deliver our pre-designed presentations and use our online volunteering system to keep in touch
- To enjoy teaching and working with young people and have a keen interest in pet care and dog safety
- To have access to your own car or reliable public transport
- To have daytime availability during term-time

Disclaimer
Online training can take several weeks so you will need to commit to training before you can fully get stuck into your role. We also ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of one talk per half term. You will need to have term-time daytime and ideally some evening availability. You'll need to be 17 or older for this role. You must have access to your own car or reliable public transport. Talks are delivered in person within a 20 mile radius of your home. Expenses are available. As this role involves liaising with children and young people, you will need to be prepared to undertake a DBS check. Exam Star Learner is an educational charity. We are on a mission to address the lack of access to personalised learning support for underprivileged youth. We aim to deliver personalised and affordable tutorials in Maths, English, Science, and French to underachieving and disadvantaged children and young people. Education is unfair
A growing number of parents and guardians are paying for children as young as four to receive additional tuition. Research show that unlike their well-off peers, many children from lower income families are unable to afford the cost of private tuition which averages £25 per hour in London. This exacerbates education inequalities and contributes to widening the attainment gap.

About the opportunity
We are on the lookout for ten motivated Volunteer Recruitment Officers to join our team. This is an unpaid and voluntary role. In this shared role, each officer will work closely together to develop and implement a comprehensive plan to recruit volunteer tutors. The goal is to recruit and retain a pool of at least 200 retired teachers who can dedicate 4 hours to one-on-one and small group tutoring in English, Maths, Science, and/or French for children and young people aged 5-18. These tutorials will be conducted both in person (in Southwark schools) and online. The professionals will be responsible for recruiting, training, supporting, and retaining volunteer tutors to help reduce the education gap and raise the aspirations of underprivileged children and young people.
Detailed Tasks:
1. Volunteer Tutor Recruitment Strategy Document (Candidates 1 & 2):
Candidate 1: Strategy Development
· Collaborate with the charity Director to write a robust volunteer tutor recruitment strategy document.
· Discuss and refine the strategy document with Candidate 2.
Candidate 2: Recruitment Process
· Execute the recruitment strategy developed by Candidate 1.
· Manage all stages of the recruitment process for volunteer tutors, including advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
2. Training and Development (Candidates 3 & 4):
Candidate 3: Training Design
· Design a training programme for volunteer tutors.
· Collaborate with Candidate 4 to align the training programme with the recruitment strategy and volunteer management system.
Candidate 4: Training Delivery & Development
· Deliver the training programme designed by Candidate 3.
· Develop a system to track volunteer progress and collect feedback on the training programme.
3. Volunteer Management (Candidates 5 & 6):
Candidate 5: Volunteer Support
· Establish effective processes for volunteer management.
· Offer guidance and support to volunteer tutors, addressing any questions or issues that arise.
Candidate 6: Coordination & Updating Systems
· Track and record tutorial attendance and ensure that both students and volunteer tutors attend the sessions.
· Liaise with parents/guardians, school teachers and volunteer tutors as and when required to facilitate tutorials (i.e. provide support around rescheduling missed tutorials, tutorial scheduling issues, payment queries, refunds, lateness, re-sharing video conferencing links, sending reminders about tutorial sessions etc)
· Regularly review and update the volunteer management database to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
4. Retention Strategies, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Marketing (Candidates 7 & 8):

· Liaise with the team and rovide administrative support as and when necessary, including advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of volunteer tutors, coordinating tutorials and tracking tutorial attendance, record-keeping, scheduling, and documentation etc

Volunteer Tutor Recruitment Timeline
The recruitment process for volunteer tutors will commence immediately upon the start of the shared role. The goal is to recruit a pool of at least 200 retired teachers within a timeframe of 6 months. However, the timeline may be subject to adjustments based on the availability and suitability of volunteer tutors.
Work Schedule
This is an unpaid and voluntary role. Each candidate should not work more than 20 hours per week, but there is flexibility to accommodate the needs and schedules of team members.
Qualifications
· Relevant experience in volunteer recruitment or a similar role.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
· Experience in training and development is beneficial. Familiarity with the charity sector, particularly in education, is advantageous.

About Onja
Onja is a social enterprise training underprivileged youth into world-class software developers.
We find the brightest students in Madagascar who can’t afford to continue their education, and train them in English language and software development. After just two-and-a-half years they are ready to work as remote front-end software developers in international tech teams.

About the Role
Your mission as our CFO is to lead and be in charge of Onja’s finances. You will assume responsibility for managing Onja’s financial functions, including building out and overseeing the financial team. This will include:
- Improving our accounting systems & processes
- Financial planning and analysis, including budgeting and forecasting
- Monthly management reporting and quarterly financial reporting
- Annual reporting (New Zealand and Madagascar)
- Tax compliance (New Zealand and Madagascar)
- Responsible for and coordinating activities of external auditors, responsible for preparation of financial statements to be audited.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an early career Communications Intern/Officer to be based with an NGO in the heart of Madagascar.
Living in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin in the southeast of Madagascar, this role will support the team managing SEED’s media and communication work. The Survivors Trust is a national membership organisation for specialist voluntary sector rape and sexual abuse support services in the UK and Ireland. The impact of sexual violence of any form, whether experienced as an adult or as a child, can be devastating and can last a lifetime. Survivors may experience a wide range of physical and mental health problems as a result of being sexually violated, affecting every aspect of their health, lives, relationships, education and work. We aim to raise awareness of the support survivors need and the work of our Member Agencies in providing this crucial help.
TST is in the unique position of having member agencies that are working with all victims and survivors of sexual violence and sexual abuse. TST is an independent inspection body for our UKAS accredited service standards for specialist sexual violence organisations.

- Write project reports, to a high standard of English, that clearly demonstrate the successes and challenges of the WASH and Education infrastructure projects, learning from the project and providing clear budgetary information

Mynshull’s Educational Foundation is committed to improving the life-chances of young people from Manchester and Salford, so they can grow up to fulfil their potential. Through the provision of small grants, we aim to reduce the barriers that young people face to education, skills and training.
We provide funding for young people aged 25 or under to help them obtain equipment, uniforms or experiences that support them in starting or continuing their education or training. Some examples include grants towards the cost of school trips and residentials, text books, stationery, apprenticeship equipment such as tools, and musical instruments.
We are currently recruiting for trustees to join our board. The right candidate will understand the challenges faced by young people in Manchester and Salford; this may be through their own lived experiences or through professional experience, for example in education or health and social care. The successful candidate will be passionate about improving outcomes for young people. Previous experience of being a trustee is not essential to this role.

As a trustee you would be expected to attend a minimum of 4 board meetings (2 hours each) per year, as well as commit approximately 1 to 2 hours per month to reviewing applications for funding (this can be done remotely, online).

Road Farm Countryways CIC is looking for another Director /Trustee to join the existing leadership team. We normally have 4-5 voluntary Directors and have an additional group of volunteers more involved with our regular farm helpers on a daily basis.
This vital role includes:
- Improving the quality and sustainability of Countryway’s Care Farming service to people with disabilities.
- Developing and promoting new initiatives, especially considering online options and social media.
- Promoting Care Farming and education opportunities here, incorporating life skills, especially for those transitioning to adulthood.
- Networking with other organisations and sectors in society (e.g. local authorities, health and social care agencies, educational institutions, businesses, other voluntary organisations)

Objectives
Road Farm Countryways CIC is committed to enabling farm and countryside interaction to improve well-being, self-worth and promote learning, especially for those rarely able to access it. We work with people with many different life challenges and educational interests including those with learning difficulties, complex needs, physical and mental health problems, providing active Care Farming involvement with animals and learning life skills to help maintain our countryside. Many of our farm helpers cannot cope in large social settings or corporate establishments, but here feel part of a real working environment and become more confident, capable of interaction, self-control and independence, amongst many other positive things. They know that here, they matter. They develop greater independence and improved work and social skills as well as better physical health which impacts their whole wellbeing and indirectly influences their home and family setting for the better.
We also provide educational and special interest group visits, enabling people of all ages to actively learn more about farming and biodiversity interactions, helping develop a love of the outdoors and sustainability. There are opportunities to cook farm field to fork and get involved with crafts too, with an excellent wood-work shop to include all levels of skill. Everyone can do something well and need to know they can, so we try to help this happen!
Activities
By interaction and care with animals (donkeys, goats, hens, turkeys, sheep, cattle etc) and maintaining the countryside (eg coppicing; woodland maintenance, work on bee-hives & bird boxes) in a beautiful, non-threatening place, our service users get involved, learn skills and feel a sense of purpose and inclusion. These can be one-off visits or structured programmes over many months or years with supported learning and reflection built in. All visits are strictly pre-arranged and vary according to individual needs.
