BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PURPOSE OF THE POST
The Finance and Resources Team is responsible for responsible for HI’s finances, general services and HR in the UK. It comprises the Chief Finance and Operating Officer, a Finance Officer and an Accounting Officer.
The main purpose of this post is:
- To ensure smooth and efficient running of the HI UK office, including office services, IT, internal communications and health & safety
- To act as a key point of contact within the organisation and externally
- To undertake human resources administration for staff and volunteers, including supporting recruitment and follow-up
- To provide administrative support to the Chief Executive, Leadership Team and Board of Trustees
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
- Maintain the office facilities and environment to agreed service levels
- Act as primary point of contact with the landlord and all suppliers for the office space, proactively dealing with arising issues
- Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of office equipment and IT equipment for all staff and volunteers, and arrange their repair or replacement, in conjunction with the Finance Officer and the Accounting Officer, as need arises
- Act as principal contact person for HI UK’s IT infrastructure and support provider, helping colleagues to access IT support when required and developing and implementing the organisation’s IT strategy
- Manage budget lines associated with running of the office and participate in procurement, primarily of office and IT supplies, liaising with external suppliers.
- Act as designated Health & Safety Officer for the office, including ensuring Health & Safety policies are up to date and being adhered to
- Continually review systems in place within the office, make improvements where required, and communicate these to relevant people
Human Resources
- Provide administrative support and advice for the recruitment of staff, consultants and volunteers, including advertising, interviews, issue of contracts and inductions, liaising with the federation manager and recruitment teams when relevant
- Assist with other HR tasks, including managing staff and volunteer files, managing the HR information system, administrative support for payroll and contributing to updates of the staff handbook
- Support teams on volunteer recruitment, contracts, induction, support and training
- Maintain an up-to-date welcome kit for new starters and provide and coordinate induction training sessions
· Make sure that HR policies and internal processes are updated and well known by all the staff
- Provide support and advice to managers on HR matters, in collaboration with the Chief Finance and Operating Officer and the Chief Executive, including leave management, payroll, pension, changes in contracts or situation, flexible working and flexible hours, diversity and inclusion, potential conflict and interpretation of the Staff Handbook
Administrative support
- Provide administrative support to the Chief Executive, including diary management, preparing and servicing meetings and filing
- Organise and support meetings of the Board of Trustees, including room booking, diary management, preparation of papers, minute-taking and organising catering
- Maintain filing systems
- Deal with enquiries, calls and emails from the public, partners and other HI entities
- Support specific projects as needed
Other tasks
- Contribute to projects led by the Finance and Resources team and the HI UK whole team.

The Peer Support Coordinator will play a critical role in the delivery of Day One's Peer Support Service. The primary objectives are to ensure a high-quality service is delivered to our beneficiaries; to develop our regional peer support model; and to facilitate a positive volunteering experience for our lived experience volunteer team. You will be empathic with strong active listening skills, able to demonstrate sensitivity and discretion in your communication with trauma-affected individuals. Possessing excellent organisational skills, you will thrive in the fast-paced and reactive environment of peer support service delivery.
You will be committed to maintaining high standards and have a keen eye for detail able to keep accurate records of interventions and collect evaluation/impact data with regularity. Additionally, you will have a proactive approach to building and supporting a diverse volunteer team. You will be a ‘people-person’, enjoy speaking with others, and have the knowledge and confidence to offer ongoing guidance and motivation to our volunteer team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our new service supporting Unpaid Carers across Lewisham to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs.
The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing statutory and holistic assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. You will carry out home visits and community meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals.
You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Unpaid Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Unpaid Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.
Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. Bexley Food Alliance Project Coordinator
The Bexley Food Alliance is a new network which was funded by the GLA to work towards taking pressure off the emergency food aid services and providing increased financial support to Bexley residents. This network has now expanded and aims to build a collaborative network of agencies that can increase fairer access to healthy, nutritious and culturally appropriate food, as well as any additional support residents might need. We are looking for a Project Coordinator to take over the day-to-day running of this network (see below for a brief description). This is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to take on a part-time, one-year project, perhaps as a stepping stone into something more significant, or perhaps you’re returning to work or changing careers. The Campaign Coordinator will deliver a campaign strategy immediately before and after the General Election. You will lead local community teams who want to end the need for food banks, to get local Prospective Parliamentary Candidates to commit to prioritising the problem of people going without essentials if they are elected, and to acknowledge that that must involve a strengthened social security system.
This Cambridge City Foodbank (CCFb) role is funded by Trussell Trust as part of their General Election strategy, and you will be part of a network of Campaign Coordinators around the UK doing this work.
Responsibilities of Campaign Coordinator:
To build trusted relationships within CCFb and other food banks before, during and after the UK General Election. You will work with food banks across the Cambridgeshire & Peterboorough Combined Authority to build a team and coordinate campaign activity.
To create and support campaigns teams of community volunteers. You will have 1-2-1s with food bank staff, volunteers, partner organisations and stakeholders in each community to build support bases and get people to take part in campaign actions.
To lead community outreach including door-knocking sessions. You will door knock with your community campaign team to drum up support for the campaign, provide members of the public literature on food bank use in their local community, and invite people to their local hustings.
To support local campaigns teams to engage with Prospective Parliamentary Candidates, including organising local hustings. You will ensure that your community campaign teams: attend national Trussell Trust webinars, receive national guidance on how to approach Prospective Parliamentary Candidates, understand the Trussell Trust legal General Election guidance, understand the logistics of organising a hustings, ensure that the hustings is as accessible as possible and ensure that the voices of people with lived experience are heard through the hustings.
To deliver the local campaigning strategy working with CCFb and other food bank staff, volunteers, visitors and social supermarket members. You will set objectives for the campaign, monitor progress and evaluate impact.
To work with the Organising and Local Mobilisation strategy of CCFb and engage with the training and support on offer, including work with other Campaign Coordinators in the Trussell Trust network

We are now recruiting for a new role in the Resources Team within the Crisis at Christmas Team to support with coordinating the material donations needed to set up and run Crisis at Christmas centres and services. Every year, Crisis at Christmas opens its doors to people who need our support, offering warmth, accommodation, healthcare, food, and specialist advice. This Christmas we worked with over 6,600 people facing homelessness through our day centres and hotels in London, and Crisis Skylight centres across Britain.
Title: Project Coordinator – Resources
Salary: £35,969 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week. Core working hours are 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday, but due to the nature of the project some weekend and evening work may be required.

As a Project Coordinator – Resources your role will involve building relationships with current and new corporate donors to ensure we can resource all the required material donations we need to run the Crisis at Christmas centres in London. Gift in kind donations we require range from food and beverages to clothing, hairdressing equipment and minibuses. This is a varied role that involves researching donors, communicating with large corporate companies, managing volunteers, and running community donations.

The project is a Community Hub hosted in a community space in Stonebridge (not in Sufra’s existing premises). Grandmentors
Grandmentors is an innovative volunteering project where older volunteers (aged 50+) use their lifetime of skills and experience to support and mentor vulnerable young people leaving the care system. These young people often need a guiding hand and role model to support them to find work, continue their education or begin training – ultimately giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives.
