Voluntary Trained Observer Healthwatch Hounslow
What is Healthwatch?
Healthwatch Hounslow is an independent organisation set up to champion the views of health and social care service users. It strives to make sure that health and social care services are meeting local needs and to ensure that the public’s voice is heard regarding how local services are run.
About the Role
Healthwatch services have a statutory function to carry out Enter & View visits to health and care services to review services at the point of delivery. This involves visiting with a team of representatives to observe the service, view the premises, and talk to both staff, patients/residents, carers, and relatives. Visits involve using all the senses and going through questions and surveys. Enter & View visits often take place at care homes but can cover a range of services such as hospital wards, community clinics, and support groups.
You will receive full training on how to perform an Enter & View visit.
Tasks

Visiting and scrutinizing health and care facilities (remotely and in person) through 2–4-hour visits.

Talking with patients, residents, carers, relatives, and staff and gathering their feedback and views through in person interviews, surveys, and questionnaires and gathering these through emails and phone calls

Attending planning and debriefing meetings

Writing up notes and helping to draft the Enter & View report

Examining the feedback and findings and offering an analysis of these to inform recommendations

Presenting reports and findings at external meetings

Time Commitment

Enter & Views are formal, structured visits that happen approximately once every 2 months. During the lead-up to, and the actual visit itself, a half to full day is required each week for a short period (approx. 3-4 weeks).

Typically, we carry out a minimum of 6 visits each year.

Skills and experience of Enter & View build during each visit. We suggest E&V volunteers are committed to long-term involvement in Healthwatch Hounslow to benefit from what this role has to offer.
Travel Commitment

Visits can happen to services across the borough of Hounslow. You must be willing and able to travel across the borough–sometimes this could be up to 1.5 hours.

Other aspects of the role (e.g. writing up notes) can be done from the office or home.

We are looking for one or more administration volunteers to provide admin support to our advisers at Biddulph Town Hall. The office is staffed on Mondays and Wednesdays with a drop-in each morning from 10.30am to 1pm and pre-booked appointments in the afternoons.
Where: Citizens Advice Office, Biddulph Town Hall, High St, Biddulph, ST8 6AR.
When: Minimum of one morning or afternoon per week (3 hours) on a Monday and / or Wednesday.
What will you do?
- Complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and training for your role.
- Help with the day to day running of the Citizens Advice service.
- Assist at drop-ins by greeting clients, assisting clients to fill in a personal information sheet and entering the data onto a database.
- Scan, print, and photocopy documents using a printer.
- Update spreadsheets and databases.
- Any other admin duties as required.

Healthwatch Wandsworth - ‘Enter and View’ Community Researcher
Healthwatch Wandsworth is looking for volunteers who are interested in community research and being part of the Enter and View team.
The role of Healthwatch is to work with the local community and users of health and social care services to ensure that these services are responsive to local needs and delivered to a high standard. We plan visits to services and talk directly to clients and users about their experiences. This is fed back to the managers of the service and we follow up on any actions that may be taken in response to our findings.
One of the ways that Healthwatch can contribute is through its' legal powers to `Enter and View` premises such as hospitals, day care centres, or residential homes to observe the quality of care and to speak with patients, service users and carers.
We need volunteers who, through their work, volunteering, or personal experience, understand health and care services. We particularly welcome people who have personal experience of using services and reflect Wandsworth's diverse population.
Healthwatch Wandsworth's authorised representatives on the Enter & View team will be provided with clear guidelines about the premises they are going to visit, the purpose of the visit, and the reporting arrangements. Relevant training and support will also be offered.
As an ‘Enter and View’ Community Researcher you will
· Take part in an induction process.
· Attend training/briefing sessions.

· Talk to the service users and staff that you meet on the premises and document their views.
· Observe and record what you notice.

We are looking for a friendly face to help staff the Yeldall Manor reception desk for a few hours each week.
The role entails being the first point of contact for telephone callers, visitors and residents, welcoming and redirecting their queries/calls as appropriate. You will be comfortable using a computer in order to send emails, access the diary and assist with basic admin tasks, although there may also be times with less to do.
The role includes a lot of client contact, so you will have daily contact with those men whom you are helping. They inspire and motivate us just as much as we seek to encourage and support them. As part of this, we ask that all our staff and volunteers help support the residents by interacting with them and encouraging them in their recovery and spiritual growth, and so ask that you will have a committed Christian faith yourself.
Yeldall Manor is set in the Berkshire countryside, about three miles from Twyford station. Lunch is provided with fellow staff and resident.
